My friend & I stopped by this location last summer. From the moment we stepped foot inside we were made to feel uncomfortable. The hostess who seated us was very cold/rude. Then our waiter was very unhelpful & also made us feel unwelcome. We just ate soup and decided to leave due to our awful experience.

The fish & chips are really just OK. They do know how to serve a large crowd quite quickly however. The staff is friendly, which is nice.

Stopped in looking for good seafood didn't know it was a Seattle icon. The food may have been good but it arrived cold and all at one time. Our server did a lot of talking but failed to bring the proper drink and had to come back to ask what was ordered. Our server never bust the table so we were left with a table of used dishes. The final straw was when the server tried to make up his poor service by offering up a free dessert. Seriously, I wouldn't have walked in the place if I couldn't afford a dessert so when he dropped it on the side tray and proceeded to check with the table next to us I lost it. I have eaten all over the world and consider myself a foodie too bad the awful service outweighed what may have been outstanding food. Management tried to do the right thing and I commend then for that. However, the sour taste of the service will linger. Buyer beware stay away from the talker he ain't "family" as he likes to say.
Service was spectacular, waitress are very efficient and trying to make sure you feel welcome. The food was good, except the salmon was a little bit overcooked, other than that...it's a pleasurable place.

Great prices, great food, great view, free parking. Awesome brunch. Had our post wedding brunch here several years ago.

Great food, inside or out. We like to take food from the fish bar out onto the deck behind the restaurant ... and watch life on North Lake Union roll by as we eat.
Went for a double birthday celebration which went unnoticed though we made mention of it to the hostess.
No cider on hand but on the menu. Wrong drink was served and still on bill. That said, food is still good and water views are lovely.
Lots of workers, but many standing around talking to each other. Consequently, our service was slow. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. Maybe they were having a bad day.

Traveling from out of town and we went to this wonderful restaurant by recommendation of our local family members.
The setting was picturesque Seattle. Right along Lake Union with great views from everywhere in the dining room. There is a nice place to walk close to water and was great to explore as we were early for our reservation.
The food was amazing. Everything that we ordered came out promptly and was exactly as ordered. Very accommodating to our special request although we did call ahead and prearranged it. We did not explore the drink menu as it was a family dinner but it looked to be adequate and on par with the experience. There were wine pairing recommendations in the menu.
The service was great. We had a very large party and I was left wanting for nothing.
Pricing was what I expected for the experience. If budget is a consideration this might be a deterring factor but not enough for us.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for those looking to enjoy the bounties of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

The fish and chips were great, not greasy at all, and the coleslaw was pretty light. The clam chowder was pretty gelatinous but tasty. We ate out front at the seafood bar, and our food was ready very quickly.
They have really updated this place and now it is absolutely beautiful inside. It overlooks lake union which provides a nice ambiance
Maybe not the fanciest, but great ambiance and two words - Salmon Trio.
Food was good; clam chowder creamy, rich, delicious. Bruschetta topped with crab was tasty. The place was not busy at all and this was Tuesday night. Lots of parking; important in San Fran--oops I mean Seattle.
My dad and I really enjoyed our meal here. We had a fantastic seat looking right out onto the water, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious! I'd definitely recommend Ivar's Salmon House.

The decor and views are excellent. Over the years I think the food quality has dropped and a little overpriced for what you get.
Large waterfront outside dining area, with an awesome view, the inside is beautiful as well.This is a large restaurant with a complete menu ranging from seafood and steaks, wonderful appetizers. This was suggested to me by a coworker who came from Seattle. It was excellent food, friendly, attentive wait staff. Worth the trip.
Just get the take out and eat on the docks, its better than the dine-in experience
We went to bar at happy hour. Immediate seating, almost same meal at half the price. Good food, window seat to watch Christmas ships go by.

The patio is awesome and services are quick. You can also eat at the fancier salmon house which offers fancier food.
Not an easy place for an unfamiliar tourist to find, even with directions, but I'm glad we did. The food and decor were great and the staff was friendly, but the view of the sound and the city skyline were incredible.
The menu is all fish, all the time (which, I am assured, was amazing), but don't be afraid to take your vegetarian friends here: they have a separate vegetarian menu! Just ask! I was all set to order a salad without bacon and was surprised by a separate page of six or seven meatless menu options that were all appealing and filling.
The beer selection was small, but commendably local. The cocktails all sounded good.
Dessert looked amazing, but we were all too stuffed.
Great views for the price, and you are mainly paying for the location. The salmon was good but not mind blowing, for $26.00+ I suggest looking around.
Buzzfeed made a video on their salmon dish, well, we went in search of it and were disappointed to find that they changed the seasoning and dressing for the dish, so if you, like us, was looking to satisfy that craving, I suggest you specify exact dressing you would like to see on your salmon.

Great amount and selection of brunch items, especially Seafood. Great experience "sailgating" to the UW - UCLA football game.
Attended a brunch event for a UW gameday followed by round trip Sailgating. The food and drinks were delicious! And as a vegetarian I appreciated that they had multiple meat-less options for me. 10/10 would do the brunch again.

Not nearly as good as the other ivars. SERVICE was twrrible. Waitress said she was super busy, and they were almost empty. Likely a staffing issue. Food wasn't that great either. Chowder seemed watered down and the fish was totally different. No refill for drinks and took forever to get our check. Terrible.

I made a big heart and ordered crab legs, but I really enjoyed it. There are only 2 on it, but the food price is quite low. It is not so much like an American restaurant. Salmon, the waiter's recommended menu, was just like that, but the scenery is so nice that I have to give you 5 stars haha
Been here several times but the most recent was the worst. The wait was long, the soda was flat, the food wasn't great, and neither was the service. Ended up going again today and we had better results using the take out window vs. being served. Seating is not nearly as good however.
Great atmosphere and view of Lake Union. Separate seating for the bar area, but high quality service in either. Great PNW woodwork and most importantly, amazing food.
The Coho salmon I ordered was a bit overcooked and dry. However, the service was great. A good restaurant with a great view.

The building and view are half the experience, really beautiful! The food is pretty good, reasonable service, pretty spendy, but a good place to go for the ambiance.

Couldn't be happier with this place! Fantastic happy hour and of course it's Ivar's clam chowder--so fricking delicious. Our servers were great and hooked us up with extra fish and chips and bread the whole night for our large group. Stiff drinks and a good vibe overall. Happy hour can get packed so just plan for that.
Pretty fancy eats but I think the one on the pier in Seattle is better really expensive 4 regular fish and chips
Outrageous price for the same meal you can get at any sidewalk vendor. Actually, the sidewalk vendors have more pride in their product. While locals say you should go here, I would say you can skip this place and its related restaurants.
The salmon dinner on the barge on a summer day is the best!

Ben the bartender was great! Let me try the beers (he would have let me try all 12 if I wanted) and gave me a recommendation to get the mussels in curry sauce - never had curry or mussels and they were a great choice! The hefeweisen was great too! Huge place and good, personable service here at the bar

Tourist trap in my opinion. The food I had was less than mediocre. The view is great and service was good. But average quality view. If you do just just get drinks.

The food and setting of Ivars was amazing. I never been to the actual salmon house, but I'm kicking myself in the butt for not going sooner. The catch of the day was amazing. Beer was nice and fresh. To cap it all off, the view was utterly breathtaking!
Definitely going to make this a date night place!
