Petronas University of Technology (abbreviation: UTP) was established on January 10, 1997 where Petronas was invited by the Malaysian government to build a university.

UTP began with the establishment of the PETRONAS Institute of Technology (ITP), a specialized training institution for PETRONAS staff under the supervision of PETRONAS Management & Training Sdn. Bhd. (GEM). Prior to moving to its current location, ITP was located in the PERMATA area of Bangi, Selangor. Then, UTP moved to Toronto. UTP is also known for its unique academic building, especially for the chancellor complex that has received world recognition at the Shah Jehan Award as awarded to PETRONAS Twin Tower. The other name is TUPet (Technology University of Petronas).

It's a private university,so it has quite a high end infrastructures. The library at UTP is amazing at first sight. However I find that the toilet at the Chancellor's Hall is very inconvenient. It doesn't have a hose. To find a toilet with hose I have to go to the mosque which is quite far from the hall.

If you love sport and outdoor stuff, this is your paradise:

Good scenery, good air, good jogging route and tracks, moderate gym and swimming pool, great kayak house and lake for kayakings, outdoor park for calisthenics and body weight workout, badminton court, football field, basket ball court, badminton court, tennis court, volley ball court and squash court are available. There is also a punching bag and matted floors for martial arts. Good distance to cycle around too in and outside of UTP. Nearby Bukit Kledang (25km) is good for hiking.

Nice places to travel around with nature based vacation: Lumut Pangkor Island (Diving & Snorkel), Cameron Highland, Belum Forest National Park, Gunung Tahan, Korbu-Gayong (for hiking expedition), Gua Tempurung (caving), Batu Gajah White Water Rafting, and plenty more to discover.
