David is a gem. Aside from the incredible craftsmanship, he is the most agreeable and personable contractor. It is rare to find someone who is reliable, talented, and punctual. If you re the kind of customer that expects an awesome product and superior customer service, avoid this company because they are seriously lacking in the customer service department. I have never worked with an owner of the company that was more rude then David. Not only was he completely deficient in timelines of our project, but he threatened us with voiding our warranty. He also said that if we post a bad review on his company, he would do the same with a business we own (where he didn t even use our services), I mean how unprofessional and corrupt. Working with him was a struggle throughout the project. AVOID if you have to save yourself some headache.

My husband an I hired with Iron & Wire to create a custom metal and glass handrail to pair with our modern staircase in our new home. Dave fabricated a table base for us and we are very pleased with the results. It appeared to be a deceptively simple project, but Dave understood that we required a level of finish and attention to detail that added some challenge for him. His skills and aesthetic understanding produced an elegant and practical table that we will enjoy for years.

Worked with Iron and Wire on numerous metal projects and they all look great. Our stainless steel metal railings are beautiful and have held up through 10 years of lousy Chicago weather. The iron fireplace surround still looks great. Same for the kitchen table and front gate. Through each project, David Greene and his sidekick Steve have been a pleasure to work with. I am the kind of person who rarely leaves reviews and they are only five or one star reviews. This is five stars and I wish I could have a six stars option. Their wrought iron products come out of their own backsmith operation, which is a rarity these days. I paid a lot for my fence, and gate, however I got an absolutely superior product that would outshine all imitation bent tubing products. Plus David the owner was very supportive throughout and when some measurement was incorrect, he promptly fixed everything. Now my fence is looking totally amazing and I know that it will last FOREVER because it is of such a solid construction. The company is fittingly located in an antique Chicago building and has a very clean organized shop with a mixture of antique/vintage blacksmith tools and modern metal forming equipment, air hammers and so on. They use solid, not hollow US sourced raw material. (note, most raw stock sold here in the US is made locally)
We have used Iron and Wire now for two custom stair rail projects. Both projects were completely different/custom, and both turned out beautifully! David was able to see my vision and make it come to life with no hiccups. I highly recommend Iron and Wire.

David and the crew at Iron & Wire are truly craftsmen. They've designed, created, and installed stainless steel and wood handrails in my past two homes. After the first install, I knew that there was no point in looking elsewhere. On my first search, I gathered quotes from other firms (at least from those who managed to return my inquiries), and found David's to be priced comparably to others, but was willing to create exactly what I wanted. A quote from a local carpenter, who was only going to use stock parts of wood and steel (what looked like from HD), was only slightly less expensive than what Iron & Wire created in a gorgeous, sleek stainless steel unit. Oh, and David is an artisan who LOVES what he does--you'll realize that as soon you start talking to him. If you want something that will become a focal point in your home, this is your guy.
