Great place to visit beautiful gardens nice walk fresh air
Going back there not enough time to assess well. Very good so far.
weird weird
I will not understand.
The building and its surroundings are wonderful, I went when there was an exhibition by Jardam, the curatorship was very good.
Lovely galleries in a stunning building with nice gardens.
Great museum with gorgeous art pieces inside. The tour guide was lovely and very informative witty too. The grounds are absalutly gorgeous. Would recommend on a nice day to make the trip into it.
The museum is well structured, it flows through the paintings easily without having to do too many turns. Unfortunately, the quantity is not vast (even for the number of artists). The wing dedicated to optical effects is particularly appreciated. Slightly less than the one dedicated to photography, which turns out to be slightly tacky
The building and grounds are well worth a visit but felt the exhibit with all the tables was taking the Mick.
Not bad museum for contemporary and modern art, very beautiful building
Fabulous building and grounds. Unfortunately, limited space for artworks and very underused.
I recommend this place. There are many international exhibitions!
One of the best Musems in Dublin, if not Ireland, and it free. You European visitors are so lucky. The prices they charge for the Rykesmusem or any mainland Europe museum is a farce.
Beautiful old building which in itself is worth visiting, display areas are fantastic and it's all free, although you can leave a donation which is well worth doing...
The garden surrounding the museum is enough to keep you occupied.
The museum is located in an old hospital and in its surroundings there are beautiful gardens. It is worth taking a few hours to visit it!
I'm not a fan of modern art, but building itself and garden are amazing and worth seeing!
very good experience,l;ots of beautiful modern art, staff very nice professional god bless n enjoyc
Interesting exhibits of modern art in a beautiful old building with lots of parkland around it. It used to be the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, a retirement home for soldiers. I enjoyed the exhibit about that time period a lot. Has a shop and a cafe. Friendly staff.
A fantastic trip to see the Freud Project with a group of senior students. Our guide was really knowledgeable and interesting. She sketched out a fascinating portrait of Freud and his work.
Great coffee shop, very enjoyable lunch, with very helpfu staff in a beautiful location
I loved the architecture of the museum and gardens and the Art Work was also good the restaurant is a good place to eat . It's all good.
.
The museum was great, but in the gift shop they sold a very machist and misogynist book
Delightful place open on New Year's day too. Unfortunately the Main hall was closed due to ongoing renovation works
I think a Museum of modern art needs to give more details on the art in the exhibitions. Just writing "paint on canvas" next to a canvas with some paint on it is just a bit funny.
Beautiful building and well-maintained gardens. Some of the permanent art exhibits outside are quite odd, but it is a nice place to visit if you are near Kilmainham Gaol or Heuston Station.
The part accessible for free does not present important works, beautiful green area around
Very modern art. The exhibition of Swansy was superb.
The historic building where it is installed is already worth the visit. It has a beautiful garden next door and the exhibition by Lucien Freud
This review is for the cafe inside, lower level. One of the tastiest, easiest meals my trio found in Dublin. Affordable and varied selection for our different preferences. Grounds are lovely, though we didn't have time to visit the museum that day.
This museums sits close to the centre of Dublin and is perfectly situated close to the national museum of archeology, making it easy to fit in both in a day. Although this museum has enough inside for approximately 3 hours of good walking around. The gallery is split into many sections all labelled and easily manoeuvred. If you get lost, very easy to ask someone for directions. Great place to visit for a trip around Dublin.
An interesting place to visit in the old hospital just a short walk from Kilmainham Gaol. Modern art is there to challenge the concepts of art. There were a few different artists being exhibited when I visited, but I'm afraid that it challenged me to much and largely left me cold. (In comparison I really enjoyed a visit to the Tate Modern a fortnight later).
World class art presented in a magnificent location.
Best museum shop visited in years:) spent an hour there. Exhibits well laid out as well
Arrived too late for buying Tkts to the excellent Freud Exhibition ... the charming ladies at the entrance let us in for a quick vist ... 5 star service ... highly recommended
The frame, a copy of the invalids of Paris, is nice but small exhibition facing the size of building. Little monumental work. Pity. Fortunately it's free admission.
Can't say too much because an entire wing was closed off due to refurbishment. Cafeteria in basement has a good choice of food/drinks on offer. Free Wifi is good for tourists.
More interested in building architecture and their environment
IMMA it was interesting
Lovely gardens
Its a beautiful place to experience the different forms of art such as painting, photography, visual representation, sculptures etc. Few of them make bold statements on the society and how we see it. It's a nice place to spend some peaceful and thoughtful time. I also enjoyed the museum!
I went only to the park, by itself it was a pleasure. Some peacefullness
Dublin's modern and contemporary art oasis. Site of an old hospital and now well maintained the courtyard with stunning archways always signals a delightful stroll around
I don't like so much modern art, but I think this place is very good. Special
I've been to this museum many times and it is my most favourite museum in Ireland of all time. I absolutely love it. I've heard it used to be a hospital for injured soldiers about hundreds of years ago. I'm sure it is one of the defunct hospitals in this country.
Quite a large museum with few exhibits - the work is modern so can be quite hard to 'understand' but it can be appreciated. The parking was also pretty cheap but this would have been so much better had there been more art to look at
Lovely museum! Beautiful gardens is a treasure hidden into the city...
Went to a concert here. Very organised, and A lot of security
Very nice gardens and buildings, well worth a visit.
Fantasitc installations and a beautiful space on the site of Kilmainham hospital. Most exhibits are free to access & the paid exhibits are always worth the price (reasonable at 5/8 euros). Paid exhibits are also free on Tuesdays to all and free to full time students and seniors! Close to Heuston so it's conveniently located and a must visit for locals & tourists alike!
Formal gardens are lovely . Nice little oasis of calm in the city
Beautiful gardens, really good place to take the kids for a walk
Normally well curated non permanent exhibitions in a beautiful setting. Mostly free admission except for certain artists. Worth a wander through the gardens also. Pay parking available onsite.
Didn't actually visit the museum, just walked through the grounds which were lovely.
Amazing venue for the wedding I attended here. The grounds are beautiful and from ceremony to reception it was enjoyable and hassle free for all the guests.
