Horrible company! Monopoly in Parker! No compassion, was told by Julie that they are out to "make money". Smaller company that has a track record of disgusting customer service and probably have ruined many lives in the mountains and suburbs. Can't wait to go back to any company but them. See EVERY other review to understand more.

I had a pay situation that was an error on my part. Kayla from customer service was great about trying to help me out. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the only options for paying double were crediting next months bill or having it take two weeks to get a refund (from a company that is 7 miles away...) STILL, great job to their customer service and Kayla, specifically!

Communicated I would be behind on payment, thinking I was dealing with a professional company... service was cut, than told I had to pay 2 billing cycles, no kind of payment arrangement nor care that my service had been cut. Thank God I had the money, but if it had been someone who couldn't have paid they literally had no remorse nor a care in the world, I strongly advise young families and single mothers to STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

These people are freakin MORONS!!! They don't even deserve a one star rating! We are prisoners to this scumbag company. They act like they doing you a favor by supplying electricity. No matter the problem you're having they will tell you you're wrong or lying. They don't listen to anything you tell them. They apparently don't make mistakes. Yet ALL these customer's are having the same problems. Ignorant pieces of . If you have zero respect, hate people, love to argue, no common sense, and want to get paid for it. I suggest applying at IREA. That seems to be their only qualifications.

What power company ever. In addition to power outages all the time, I had automatic payments set up and they double charged many times. When I called them they said it would take a month for a refund. I wish I had different options for a power company!

IREA keeps withdrawing money out of my account for an apartment complex I have not been in since Sept. 17, 2019. I ve called numerous of times and they tell me it s cancelled but then they tell me I need to contact the complex in order to get a refund. I can t seem to get any help with the apartment complex nor IREA.

Haven't been receiving my mail (not IREA's fault but they have been notified that I am having issues with it) I can never get a hold of anyone to change my address now. So as a result of never getting my bill I completley forgot to pay my bill (my bad) what do they do? They shut off my power on a Friday while I am at work and close their offices before I get off so I go the ENTIRE weekend without electricity because they aren't open on the weekends... I hate IREA this place is a joke I'm from AZ where we have SRP 24/7 service on a 1800 customer service number. I'm not saying they have to do that but at least a Saturday would be great so I'm not out for two days.

What year is this? OH...2016 and you can't pay IREA online, unless you want to fork over $2.50 for Western Union!!!! Who writes checks now-a-days?? And are their addresses on their website? No. Are their telephone numbers on the website? No. I guess the best way to go is automated bill pay. Sad.

Always threatens with disconnection and applies $9.25 notification fee. Offers no auto withdrawal from checking and charges high fees for online payment. Basically just trying to make it hard to make a payment, so they can hit you with fees. Wish I can just switch to all solar to avoid dealing with these crooks.

Unfortunately, despite all the negative customer experiences, this sorry excuse for a utility company will continue to extort the citizens of Teller County and the surrounding areas until another company moves in to compete. I am thankfully not a customer of Intermountain Rural Electric, however my first and only experience with them was a major shock. (No pun intended). I spoke with them to find out how much it would cost me to connect to an existing power line that already runs across the property I am interested in building on. Keep in mind, most electric companies will gladly set up new electric and in some cases will connect a new residence for FREE. To my very unpleasant surprise, Intermountain Rural Electric informed me that at the very least a new electric install cost an astronomical $6,000. That number again is $6,000 minimum to hook up to a power line that is already directly over the property. I guarantee there is no way to justify that cost. If I were in a rural area with no close access I would understand, but with power already present this is absolutely absurd. I feel for the customers who have to rely on this organization for their electric needs and I sincerely hope that changes will come. Intermountain Rural Electric should be ashamed of their corrupt business practices.

I agree that IREA is horrible! The man in the back room figured a way to screw you out of more money if you get solar panels now! I think there should be a way to switch to Excel for electric, since we have them for our gas services. There must be a way to file a suit against IREA to do this!

She was so helpful, thoughtful, and professional when I was in panic mode, as I had not finished the last step of transfer. She took over, got in the driver's seat and put me on the right path. Kim, thank you for knowing your stuff! I now, see the light!

Can I give no stars? Horrible. Always shortages, if the were from Hawaii. If it snows in Colorado it's guaranteed outage that takes them forever to fix. I can't believe they still in the business. I am at the moment 9 hours w/o electricity. They keep changing their times when the power will be restored. Their online bill paying system is horrible as well: one must use Western Union!

Garbage. I've never left a review before, but this is insane. There is no other way to describe them. I've lived in 3 other states and never had the problems that I've had with them. Unfortunately: I need electricity to keep my fridge on.

There's a $250 deposit to start, sure that's fine. I have bad credit. To be expected. You can sign up for autopay to waive the deposit. Of course I'm gonna do that.
So a few months later, I get paid, have my bill, decide to pay it early. Well, that doesn't cancel the autopay evidently. So when it came time to pay the bill it still charged my account amd overdrafted it. Not once, but 3 times.
So I don't know until I get the email that my account is overdrawn. That's weird. I check it and call them.
NOW I'm on the phone with the nicest girl ever. She tells me that paying the bill doesn't stop the auto pay but I've got a $159 credit on my account so "You'll be good for your next couple bills." Cool.
So I cancel my autopay because I don't want this to happen again. She tells me that I have to be charged the deposit in that case because I didn't have autopay set up for 12 months. Okay, that's fine, I remember actually being informed that before. "It will be split up and added to your next 3 bills." That's awesome! Or at least it would've been.
So the next bill cycle comes around and let it all take it's course thinking that my bill is fine because of the credit. I guess I shouldn't have taken her word for it, because at SOME POINT they took the credit off my account. So la Dee da now there's a bill that ends up past due. In the next billing cycle, when I found out, they were threatening disconnection. So again I called in to pay and my account is flagged for non payment. Imagine that. You charged my account 3 times with your auto pay!
So I talk to another person and they tell me that there was never a credit on my account and now I have to pay my bill with certified funds and cashier's checks because of the 3 auto charges that came back insufficient. KEEP IN MIND I HAD ALREADY PAID THE BILL BEFORE THOSE AUTO CHARGES SO THERE WAS NO BALANCE. And was told I had credit on the account.
So I ask if there's anything anyone can do to remove that flag. It's not my fault and your employees obviously don't know what's going on.
They tell me there's nothing they can do, i just have to make the payments for 12 more months to make the flag go away.
Now they're charging me the entire deposit plus my bill and I can't even pay it online. The deposit was never split up, and the employees are clueless to their systems.

Get it together IREA. I guess it's easy to suck when you're the only choice.

They are trying to figure out how to profit from you producing solar and providing it 50 feet next door so they can make .04 cents a KWH. Because well you should be making the world warmer! Never had a problem. Yes we have power outages but I live in a mountain community. Very few outages in 26 years. Had 7 feet of snow and never lost power! I really like IREA .Not perfect but neither are Any of the other companies.

I just received a call this evening to inform us that there is a planned power outage for this coming Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM - PLANNED power outage implies that IREA KNEW about it ahead of time but what - just decided to give their customers a one day notice that they will be without power for the majority of the day? REALLY - what business can get away with something like this? If I had another option for power I would be cancelling our service IMMEDIATELY. What sort of customer service is this that you get NO NOTICE whatsoever and oh, by the way - they are sorry for any inconvenience. You do not even deserve ANY stars - but I had to give you at least one to be able to post this message.

Someone hit a transformer near our house. It put more than 1300 customers out of power. IREA was out there fixing it almost immediately. Most customers had power within an hour and a half. All had power within three hours.

Whom ever "the owner" is, everything on your reviews that are mostly negative, it doesn't sound like you're doing much to win your current customers over. You have a lot customers that use the word "shady" a lot. Did it occur to you that something IS wrong? I want Xcel Energy back as I used them before and were a lot better at every aspect of YOUR business we are forced to use.

Every time i forgot to make on time payment, their system blocked me from making regular electronic payments, and gave me options to pay only through an agency of some sort where i would pay service charges. i refused to do so and sent them payments via USPS. IREA did not like it. They finally would not allow me to make online payments. I don't mind sending them a check, every month!

The woman I gave it to in the Conifer office didn't do her job and has now cost me $60 in NSF fees!!!! The woman I spoke to at the main office apologized but that's it!! This is the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I have no clue how Castlerock can allow a company to function and act this way within their city. Because it is the only company that provides electricity in the town of Castle rock I feel that they think they can act this way because they don t care what the community thinks of them because were stuck with them anyways. Castle rock municipality shelf out XCel energy to come in and provide service for us this would change their attitude and how they believe they can treat people. My wife and I spoke to a total of four different people today setting up our service for the first time every single one of them was rude and disrespectful talked with an attitude. When you ask for a manager they tell him that they have no manager available. Somebody needs to do something about this they are the worst business and deserve to be kicked out of the town and no longer allowed to serve the citizens of Castle rock.

Power has gone out once that I recall. I do live in Parker however so the infrastructure is decent. Since rates have been unchanged I'll deal with the hassle of the payment system, if I had Xcel, I'm sure I'd be paying more.

This is a great electric company. Whenever we have an outage, normally due to weather, they are responsive and get us turned on quickly. I also appreciate their technology keeping us up to date whenever there are issues.

Terrible company, very un-helpful, they are eager to threaten you with cut off, payment schemes are poor at best. They make doing business with them very difficult since they know you have no option to go some where else.
