I dropped in for a workout at Inner Beast CrossFit. After showing off some new Kiloflex equipment. I was welcomed by coach Jeff and the entire afternoon class. Jeff put us through a great workout, was very helpful with technique. I had a blast!

WOW! My husband has been training here for about 4 months, and I just started a few weeks ago. Here's what we love about it:

1. The atmosphere is much "chiller" than most Crossfit gyms that we have been to, which makes working out less intimidating. The classes are a balanced blend of lifelong, hardcore Crossfitters and newbies. It usually has a very equal male-to-female ratio, with ages ranging from 20s to 60s.

2. It's extremely affordable! My hubby and I were a part of OrangeTheory for 6 months and while the workouts here were excellent at increasing our cardiovascular endurance and helping us lose weight, we were paying $200 for each of us to take only 8 classes a month. If we wanted access to more classes, it would have jumped the price up to $159/mo for each of us. YIKES! Inner Beast has special reduced prices for students, teachers, police, firefighters, and military members, so we are currently getting unlimited access to all of the Inner Beast Crossfit classes for $120/mo...for the both of us.

3. The coaches watch everyone like a hawk and WILL come up to you and adjust your form if it's not perfect! (As a chiropractor, this is exceedingly important to me...I've seen too many injuries due to poor form while weight lifting. Not worth it.) Hands down our favorite coach is Jeff - he is a world record powerlifter and if you watch him workout you will quickly learn that #beastmode is actually synonymous with #Jeffmode. With his unending amounts of positive energy and hysterical comments, he makes even the most evil workouts fun! :)

4. The coaches and the members are super welcoming to first-timers. I asked about 100 questions my first week. I knew most of what was happening, but if you've never done Crossfit before you will soon find that it has it's own language and everyone around you appears to be able to speak it (which is beyond intimidating). What on earth is a WOD? And how do I do a double-unders or a clean and jerk? The coaches and seasoned members will help you as many times as you need!

5. Built into each class, there is always a stretching and a warm-up phase designed specifically to loosen the exact muscles you will be focusing on in the Workout of the Day (WOD). My muscles always feel ready to go by the time the actual workout begins.

6. There is also a good amount of time built in after the stretching/warm-up and before the WOD so that you can learn all of the exercises you will be doing that day (plus or minus any modifications, if you need it) and figure out how much weight you will be using for each of them. And then the entire class starts at the same time, with a timer counting down to the start. Even though everyone does the same WOD, the "prep-time" before the WOD starts allows each workout to be safe and individually tailored to each member's fitness level.

If you are considering starting up a workout program, try out Inner Beast! (First workout is free.) It's affordable, safe, fun and will help you CRUSH your fitness goals this year! You have nothing to lose except weakness, weight and lack of confidence! :)

I've been in and out of the gym my entire life, but this was my first experience with CrossFit. I fell in love. Not only are the coaches encouraging and focused on making sure that everyone is comfortable, but doing CrossFit has driven me to push myself in ways that I never would have thought of in a traditional gym setting. I recommend this gym to anyone looking to get in shape, or just try something different.
