Update:

Update:

It's a necessary evil. Glad other stores have moved to the area to provide a humane shopping experience. Unfortunately, Ingles still hasn't changed their ways. Under-trained employees, running out of sale items, literally rotted produce on a regular basis. But it's close and has things. As I like to say, "Shingles. Why polish a turd?"

Original post:

This location is more like a "shingles". You can guess the "sh" word that makes up this accurately descriptive nickname. Unfortunately, due to the proximity of this location to my hom, the store is a necessary evil.

Their produce is always on its last leg (best to use within a day of purchase), they never stock enough of the sale items, and their employees seem to have little to no training. Most cashiers cannot accurately identify common produce (they ask you what it is or just key it in incorrectly). I'm sure everyone is a great person, but the location seems to be poorly managed overall.

They do have a decent beer selection for the size of the store.

I've been told that this is one of the chain's most profitable locations. I believe it and I think it's one of the reasons why so little has been done to improve the store over time. If it's broke, but it's still working, why fix it! Ahhh, shingles.

I am Hispanic, and I came into the store looking for mashed potatoes. Even though I am university graduated and have been married to an American man for 40 years, she did not seem to understand my English. She brought me over to a girl that is Hispanic for her to help me. I continued to speak in English to the Hispanic girl.... and she helped me. I wonder, how I could be married to an American; that does not speak a word of Spanish, and be understood, and this girl could not .

This is an older Ingles but still a great neighborhood store. Their inventory is geared to more basic lists and needs but still covers the gamit of expectation. Maybe a bit lack luster compared to other competitive stores but their prices are ideal. I will shop here again.

Two employees of the Haywood rd store were rude to me. The one at the Express line got sarcastic when I asked for rest of my change. I better not be disrespected again here at this store. And either fire Alyssa or move that witch to another ingles. I've had it with that woman and her attitude.

In the space of less than a minute I witnessed an employee in the deli dept who was prepping veggies for the salad bar commit one health code violation after another, including, but not limited to, wiping her nose down the entire length of her bare arm and scratching her arm pit with her gloved hand, and then return to handling veggies about to be placed on the salad bar. The most incredible thing about this experience is that the supervisor was standing five feet away from the offending employee. This happened at the Ingles on Tunnel Rd near the tunnel.

Today I had another experience that deserves a rating of zero. Having sworn to never again eat any food prepared by Ingles I was eating a yogurt in the snack area at the Ingles on Tunnel Rd in Oteen. As part of their franchise agreement with Starbucks they are required to provide free WiFi. Ingles makes it difficult to connect, requiring multiple steps including scrolling down, down, down, more down, to finally be able to tap on "accept" and then be redirected to yet another page. This morning, despite multiple tries I was unable to connect. I took screen shots for documentation and went to the manager (she said her name was Fannie or Frannie). She very obviously didn't care at all. She said there wasn't anything she could do except call a technician, but she didn't even do that. Instead, she came out from behind her wall and said something to two other employees. They all looked at me and laughed.

I will never step foot in another Ingles. Period

I can get pretty much everything I need for all my meals here. The fresh food area has improved. The bakery has improved. They have a flower shop. They have a buffet. They have 4 different places by the bakery to get already cooked meals. They have a little ice cream shop. They have a Starbucks. Excellent

Some newer updated ingles (not this location) have a nice facade and are generally cleaner but Ingles is always overpriced and there is never a good deal there. Even sale items are not really on sale. Everything priced per pound is at least a dollar more than competitors and it isn't like you are paying that extra amount for better service. If you are on a budget and going to shop large corporate stores Walmart is even cheaper and surprisingly so is Trader Joes. Only reason they get three stars from me is because there is one every five blocks and Its convenient. Avoid when possible.
