Dec 2015 After being sick with an off/on cough for about 7 months, which my primary care nurse practitioner couldn't seem to figure out, I went to the ER at Wellmont - Hawkins County Memorial Hospital in Rogersville - they kept me for 2 days, labelled me as having COPD (which I don't) & sent me home with orders for oxygen & nebulizer (oxygen was delivered to hospital) with RX for antibiotics & steroids (same TX as primary care).
Once home, I seemed to get better, then it returned again!
Jan 2016 My daughters asked me to go to Indian Path, the ER took me in & evaluated me, gave me a breathing tx, blood work, IV antibiotics & admitted me - However while waiting (in ER) what seemed like forever, I had to listen to profanity, constant chitchat at the desk outside my 'doorway', I wasn't given any way to call for assistance, I hadn't eaten anything & was hungry/thirsty, it took quite awhile before they brought me anything! Finally I was taken to a room on the 4th floor. For the next 4 days they worked on trying to figure out what was wrong, but when they sent me home, they made sure that I had the nebulizer & again, RX for antibiotic & steroid (again) as well as some other meds which when I got to the Pharmacy they sent me to (Mountain State Pharmacy) I didn't have enough money to cover what my insurance wouldn't pay. The Pharmacist made some phone calls & came back to have me sign the receipt, handed me the bag & said it was taken care of! :)
Once home, I seemed to get better, then it returned again!
Feb 2016 This time I woke up with extreme respiratory difficulty - nothing was working! On top of that, I went into a panic attack & had to have an ambulance come get me! I had them take me to Indian Path again, this time on 5th floor, they kept me for 8 days (Dr. was ready to send me home on day 6 - hospital said NO) On day 7 they decided to try an inhaler I hadn't used before, it made an immediate difference!! I would recommend Indian Path Medical Center to anyone looking to get well & be treated completely. I haven't had to be admitted since.
