If you want a home with loving care from all, Independence Village in Brighton is for you. My mother has been there for 2 years and everyone who has contact with my mother is wonderful. From the time you walk in and they call you by name, to the many activities and of course the wonderful meals, they all deserve a 5 star rating!
Very inept staff. Not professional and very under-trained. If you have a loved one with Dementia or any other related Disorder, never even consider this place for them to reside.
Both my parents lived here. And the overall experience was far less than desired

I have worked at Independence Village Brighton Valley, for almost 2 years now, and I love it! Everyone who works here, cares for the residents as if they were a loved one, of their own. They exceed in being professional, and still have the empathy that is genuine and unmatched. The culinary department is incredible and the food fantastic! The housekeeping staff does great work, and are so personable and kind. The maintenance team works tirelessly to keep such a large community running, and still have the caring in all they do. I am very honored to be a part of this awesome compassionate team, and love how everyone here makes meaningful connections in everyone's lives, every day.

My parents have been residents at Independence Village in Brighton for two years. Several factors necessitated the move from their home of over forty years. They were reluctant at first. In reality mom was not getting the care that she needed and together they could not care for the home properly. Throughout the years, our family shared many good times at that house. The memories remain with us.
For my brothers and I, knowing that our parents are well taken care of is so important. Now when we all get together, we are truly enjoying each other s company; unconcerned with mowing the lawn, the leaking dish washer and opening and closing the pool.
We are confident that the entire staff has every resident s health and well-being in mind with everything they do. My entire family is so happy with the decision they made to move to Independence Village.

I have been a resident for the last 2 years and am so glad to that Independence Village is so close to my family. I also enjoy how pleasant the employees are, all of the amenities, all of the social events, but mostly the food - every lunch I get 1/2 of a sandwich and ice cream for dessert!

It is a beautiful and clean community in a great location.The entire staff genuinely cares for every resident and goes above beyond to ensure their happiness, comfort and safety. Families of the residents know that when they move their parents here that they will be well cared for. It is actually one big family here. There are many activities for them to enjoy, trips to different places, excellent food, an excellent care staff, awesome receptionists and management.

This is a terrific place to live. From the homey living room and dining room and quiet and reflective atrium to the beautiful private apartments it's just the right fit for older residents. But what sets it apart from other places of its type is the staff. I have visited numerous time during the day and evening. Almost never fail to find a staff member sitting with a resident or group of residents in the living room by the fire. These staff members are kitchen employees, resident assistants, housekeeping staff, reception and management. I believe this makes a difference in the lives of the people who choose to make Independence Village their home.

I am the chef at this awesome place. Can't say enough good things about the staff, The residents, and the facility. Always something going on. Beautiful dining room and atrium. Caring and friendly staff. The foods pretty good too. I would describe this place as a live in country club for seniors.
Independence Village of Brighton Valley is a great community to work and live. I have worked in our company for 20 years and starting out as a server in the kitchen. This is truly a wonderful community to be a part of. It is such a blessing to be able to assist residents and their family members in creating a loving and caring environment to live. The community is clean and there are so many activities for residents to get involved.
These people are not reputable. A family member lived there for one year and at the end of the term, they refused to return the security deposit as required by Michigan law. We filed a lawsuit and won. One of their employees, acting upon their own initiative, filled out a form and sent it to the probate court to change the guardianship of the family member, creating a legal mess for the family and a lot of unnecessary expense for a senior citizen on a fixed income.
Being a health care provider, I visit many facilities for patients. I personally recommend Independence Village of Brighton not only because the facility has many great amenities but has a wonderful staff you can trust to take care of your loved one.

You will rarely see someone without a smile on their face. The property itself is absolutely beautiful! The atrium at IVBV is worth visiting. It has the feels of being outside with the shuffle board, coy fish pond, bird cages, puzzle tables, balconies, etc. except you don't have to worry about Michigans ever changing weather because it is all covered, so that you can enjoy it anytime of the year! With friendly and caring staff, as well as a clean and safe environment, IVBV is an absolutely amazing place to both work and live.

When our mom required independent living on a quick needed basis in 2013, this fit the bill. But after a year, prices became way past the norm of the tri county area. My fault mom should have moved sooner. 2016 - Move down the street to Brookdale, same apartment, amenities, more within the realm of expenses. In actuality? At Brookdale, a lot more activity, interaction, residents around etc. The staff at IV were wonderful, Cindy, Kim, Lacey.
