6/10 times that I want to pay my toll(s) online on the 7th day, the site is under construction. Now I'm going to have to fight tooth and nail because violations are going to accrue because I'm unable to make a payment. So stupid. Noone cares about the improvements to the site. Stop updating it! The more you all update the site, the more difficult and less user friendly it becomes and you prevent people from making grace period payments.
Out of the states Illinois has the worst tollway system I have a transponder in my car and still argue on the phone because apparently even if you do everything they ask they will still fine you!! I have money In my ipass account that wasn't even credited to the tolls ?! Instead they want me to pay violations fees instead of using the money in my ipass account.
Friendly Staff! That's it.
If ZERO stars was a rating, I would give it. Saving grace is only that call center employees are friendly. Can't imagine the anger they have to deal with.
Illinois State Tollway? How is this even legal? What a scam. If you're like me, not local, and miss a toll, there is virtually no way to actually pay it and avoid fees, even if you make an honest effort. You can use the "7 day to pay" option, but here's the problem. YOU MISSED THE TOLL. So it's not likely you're gonna know how much to pay or which toll it was. I wasn't so I called them immediately upon return home, trying to do the right thing and rectify the situation. Guess what, your fine doesn't register for 2 weeks in the system so they can't even tell you how much to pay. But you have only 7 days to pay and void fines? The online system asks entry/exit points which also proved to be poorly accurate at determining the actual fee. Good luck figuring all this out. This is legal theft. Just bend over and pay the money! There's nothing you can do. Multiple tolls on same road? Poorly marked toll stations with short notice to get over and do the right thing? Change only toll booths? The entire system is 100% designed to scam drivers......and it's all legal. If you live it everyday, the toll pass eliminates all this. But visitors or people traveling through are specifically targeted and victimized by this system. How bout tolling people at entry/exit points rather than mid-interstate stops? How bout alternate ways to pay like cash/card? How bout better marked stations with a couple miles warning to get over 5 lanes in Chicago traffic? How bout a more up-to-date system that shows fines so your staff can be helpful. What about a "21 day to pay" so there is time for fine amounts to be determined? You're currently asking people to pay a fine in the first 7 days, before the fine has even been established?
Revenues prevail over logic here. Like I said, just pay it. The longer you wait, the more it will cost.
Poor customer service experience from start to finish. Very difficult to get consistent or correct information from employees in the contact center and the Downers Grove iPass facility. The employee in the latter was strangely rude and abrasive. I could have returned on another date to finally get the issue resolved, but the overall experience was so poor that I decided to toss my (brand new) iPass and buy a new one.
Just flew in from Arizona. Had a great interaction with a Bradley P on the 294 or I94, I can't recall. He had a christmas suit and a Santa hat, really charming and really friendly. I hope he has a great Christmas and a wonderful future!
Just avoid this state in the future. They just want to grab money from you for their financial deficit
Illinois tollway continues to rip people off. I had a working an registered transponder in my New vehicle and simply because I did not register my new license plate with the tollway (however clearly registered with Illinois to my name)- they intentionally treat it as a violation - to intentionally RIP people off. Rather than politely letting people know- they also intentionally let the fines accumulate. The 14 day pay online grace period is BS since a driver with an active transponder see's the toll- gate lights activate, believing the transponder registered- and it did. Total intentional RIP off. another reason to get the heck out of Illinois. Shame on you.
We had traveled a lot and found out at a Indiana Toll that our Transponder was invalid. I was a nervous wreak, thinking of all the tolls we had gone through. I thought going in it was going to be a issue resolving the problem. The young lady took care of everything in 3 minutes. Plus, corrected information and took our 2 accounts and merged to 1. She was so helpful. I had a great experience here. Parking was plenty and no waiting time.
I tried several ways to pay unpaid tolls to no avail. Was told by customer serv.I would get invoice which i did with a $3.00 fee attached to each unpaid tolls.SO UNFAIR! WAY TO RIP PEOPLE OFF ILLINOIS TOLLWAY!!!
So the website says open on Saturday. They are not open. We went there for 2 more I pass transponders which was a waste of time. There were many other people going there as well.
So we had to take off work to visit them. Lines were out the door. And several of the workers had serious attitude. And that is unacceptable . A little old lady walked up to the window before she was called and the worker was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful to her. She put her hand up and shooewd her away and told her what do you think you are doing I dint call you you need to getcha self back in line until someone calls you.
Fast service. No need for thick glass between us and the service people.
This tollway service in State of Illinois is just Awful, is a shame and he just scam people...
I did call in last days because more plaza cash payment doesn't work at all, and I get different numbers to call again and report the issues.
Costumer service is very bad, they talking really bad and they don't help with anything..
How long time you do billions with tools and violention why you are not able to provide a decent costumer service and make costumers happy? Why we need to call 5 or 6 times to make your work? Shame on you because acting like that and scam drivers...
It is a nightmare to deal with these people. Here I am, a responsible citizen wanting to make sure that my tolls are paid reliably and on time and the only thing I get from the so called customer service system is rude and stupid people more interested in listening to the sound of their own voice then in actually providing service. I mean, if "customer service" cannot or will not provide service to customers, then what is the point?
Well organized and clean. Went in to change out transmitter, the line move very quickly for the amount of people there. The staff was great.
Terrible customer service.
Set up account with start date and stop date with a rental car.
Keep charging my credit card for tolls after stop date (30 days and counting).
They say there's nothing they can do.
No wonder Illinois is in the shape it's in!
Ignorant staff. Tried calling and she was very rude. It was a simple question to see if they were allowing people to come in
Dimly lit with staff that actively resented my presence. Clean enough.
My transponder died and I also needed to check up on the time I used the highway with it offline. Got to office when it first opened (7 am) and was out in 10~15 minutes with new unit. Also was able to verify the tolls were paid etc. Staff was terrific and able to answer all questions and get me the new transponder right away.
The customer service area is the first door on the right as soon as you enter through the revolving doors from outside. Could not be easier!
Went there for ipass. Expect long lines and apathetic employees. Essentially the dmv from zootopia movie.
Good service , little slow but accurate, watch out for line jumpers with that quick question line
Paid online and got another notice from tollway. Talk to customer service and told her what card I paid it from. I looked at my receipt and the last 4 number of card was different than my card. I'm pretty sure I type in my number correctly. This tollway finds way to rip you off.
I was visiting for business as an out-of-state driver. In many other states if you don't have a toll pass, they bill you later for slightly higher tolls than a pass holder. I received a bill TWO MONTHS later for $340 for less than $20 worth of tolls that I collected over the course of a couple of days. Extremely ridiculous and predatory if you aren't in-the-know, especially when they threaten to essentially take away your ability to drive if you don't pay them. Next time I know to just take a coin jar with me everywhere when I enter this state.
Worst customer service I have dealt with ever. They were aggressive in tone and not helpful at all .If you can't handle being nice to people then don't work at a job that forces you to deal with people on a daily basis.
Went to put money on my I-Pass. Always a line! Seems as thou the employees take there time, there work at an extremely slow pace.
Very displeased at their system. I recently rented a vehicle to go to Chicago, and while on the trip I drove through a couple areas that wouldn't take money only I-Passes. So, like a law-abiding citizen, I went online and paid the tolls.
Now, I am receiving citations from the car rental place stating that they received notices of unpaid tolls. Luckily, I kept my receipts otherwise the rental place would be charging me twice the toll due, PLUS, their inconvenience fees!
My biggest disappointment is that IL Toll has not put two-and-two together. They are charging the car rental something that has already been paid. Sad system.
