I recently reached out to the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services with a community related inquiry. Kiran Mehta got back to me in a prompt and timely manner and far exceeded my expectations! I'm very happy and satisfied with the Agency's level of service and I sincerely appreciate everything they are doing for our community!

Rife in abuse this agency has many problems from legal corruption such as overstepping their bound in custody cases to acquire back child support so that the state can get 10% compounded per month on back child support.

The medicaid section has a great deal of mismanagement particularly in the registration of providers often taking months, requests for medications being deliberate delayed through internal policies, To say that corruption exists in the agency is to understate the fact.

If you are aware of corruption the Edgar County Watchdogs, and State Representative Dwight Kay should be notified of any tips regarding corruption within that agency.

I am not sure how they expect people to get through to speak to someone when the automated phone service either redirects you to another number/website, OR hangs up on you after stating the message of "your call is very important to us, all our representatives are busy, please hang up and try again." Why bother putting a phone number for people to reach out to if the people calling get hung up on, and ultimately no help? Frustrating.

About Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services

Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services: Providing Comprehensive Healthcare and Family Services to Illinois Residents

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is a state agency that provides comprehensive healthcare coverage, as well as family services, to the residents of Illinois. The agency is responsible for administering Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other healthcare programs that serve low-income families, children, pregnant women, seniors, and people with disabilities.

In addition to providing healthcare coverage, HFS also offers a range of family services that help families in need. These services include child support enforcement, adoption assistance, foster care placement services, and more. The agency works closely with other state agencies to ensure that all Illinois residents have access to the resources they need to lead healthy lives.

Medicaid is one of the most important programs administered by HFS. This program provides health insurance coverage for low-income individuals who meet certain eligibility requirements. Medicaid covers a wide range of medical services including doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, dental care and more.

CHIP is another important program administered by HFS. This program provides health insurance coverage for children whose families earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance. CHIP covers many of the same medical services as Medicaid.

HFS also administers several other healthcare programs including All Kids which provides comprehensive healthcare coverage for all children in Illinois regardless of their immigration status or their parents' income level; Moms & Babies which provides prenatal care for pregnant women; Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) which helps seniors navigate Medicare; Community Care Program which helps seniors stay in their homes rather than moving into nursing homes; Home Services Program which helps people with disabilities live independently at home rather than in institutions; AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) which helps people living with HIV/AIDS get access to life-saving medications; Breast & Cervical Cancer Program which provides free cancer screenings for eligible women.

In addition to these healthcare programs HFS also offers a range of family services designed to help families in need. Child support enforcement is one such service offered by HFS where they work closely with parents who are not paying child support or are behind on payments so that they can fulfill their obligations towards their children financially.

Adoption assistance is another service offered by HFS where they provide financial assistance along with counseling and training resources so that adoptive parents can provide loving homes for children who are unable live safely at home due abuse or neglect from biological parents or guardians.

Foster care placement service provided by HFS ensures temporary safe housing arrangements made available when it becomes necessary due abuse or neglect from biological parents/guardians until permanent arrangements can be made either through reunification efforts or adoption process if reunification efforts fail.

Overall,HFS plays an essential role in ensuring access to quality healthcare as well as providing vital family support systems throughout the state.Their commitment towards improving lives through various initiatives has helped countless individuals lead healthier, happier lives.Hence,Illinois Department Of Healthcare And Family Services stands out among its peers when it comes down serving its citizens effectively while keeping them healthy, happy, and secure!
