I ddnt study here.
But i stayed there for two days in my friends room.
The campus was very nice and the atmosphere is so pleasent.
Hostel facilities are excellent especially rooms.
Food also very good.

nice college if you really want to have knowledge. good for higher studies with great faculties, and last great facilities hostel, sports, class rooms

Nice to Say about the College and the Infrastructures it has. Highly talented Faculty with great knowledge.

The best institute in kancheepuram. The training was good. Food, accommodation was up to the mark.

Let me tell you, one thing, and only one thing about the Institute:
This is as good as a NIT or Good Rated College.
The Cut off's are going to become low in the coming year's it's my Word...!

Hi, this is an honest review by an ex-secretary of IIITDM, now an Alumnus!!
Frankly speaking, I love this college. I learnt a lot of things both personally and academically here which completely molded me to become a better person altogether. When I joined this institute, I was a very timid girl and when I came out, I was confident that I can conquer the world!! Then, why only 3 stars? Please be patient and read on to find out more.
Many other reviews were focused on academics, hostel facilities, infrastructure etc but I m gonna take up few important points which many of us miss.

Motto: Academics are good, professors are very much encouraging. The motto of this institute is "Learning by doing" which, I think, should be given more importance by the management and faculty. Students have been and are still doing a lot of mind blowing stuff, there is a lot of unrecognized talent in this institute. The management should carefully implement methods to bring this talent forward, should provide them proper resources and encouragement. Management and parents, my sincere request, please don t think CGPA is everything!! There is a lot more that a student can learn in an engineering college.

Student council: This is one thing which always goes wrong in this institute. The student council is the backbone of any institute and in all these years there was not much which they could do. The SAC comprises of fourth year students who are completely occupied with their project works and placements and have no time to deal with student problems. This is the general idea but the main reason is the constant rejections and mistreatment from the management who very rarely encourage the student activities in this college. Constitution is not something which can be changed based on the whims and fancies of the management. Student secretaries have some powers and they should be treated with respect irrespective of their positions. I sincerely hope this is changing in the institute now otherwise whatever measures the management is taking to improve the college won t work for long.

Alumni: I hope they recognize and respect the students who have passed out from the college and are taking its name to different companies and countries. A strong Alumni community always helps, no doubt in that. This should be given focus at least now!!

Equality: Being a girl myself, I strongly felt many opportunities were denied to me when compared to my other classmates especially boys. I had to do everything the hard way, either fight for my rights or get frequent warnings from the management. This happens in many Indian colleges, but that s not an excuse. When a rule is imposed, please make sure it is not gender biased.

My sincere request to the management, please concentrate on the root cause of the problems, not on how you can restrict or control students. This college has been my home and my family for 4 years and I sincerely hope it becomes even better!!

IIITDM is mix of great academics (excellent students and faculty !) and WORST administration !

Admin staff should be recruited seperatly for smoother functioning rather than dumping admin responsibilities on the professors who try to impose their rules of living. You get to interact with arrogant security guards. Campus life has only DEGRADED in the past 4 years. Most of the faculty involved in the administration only try to stall the student related activities , fests. This is run by a Double tongued director who shows his expertise during student meetings/discussions. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A PROBLEM/NOR REPORT ONE AT IIITDM !

Majority of the office staff are good and co-operative. But the profs like Dr.Sadagopan and Dr.Sivaselvan come into play and make things worse. I never understand why one has to obtain permissions from these two seperately after people contact the concerned person incharge of the technical and cultural activities. Please refrain from all the admin activities related to the students.We saw how things degraded. You take up additional responsibilities , only end up blackmailing the students about credits , screwing their grades when they report any issues.
Try to resolve the issues , else assign them to concerned person and just forget about them.

I feel lucky to have graduated before things got worse in the campus.
I FEEL SAD TO HATE THIS INSTITUTE WHICH GAVE ME THE BEST MEMORIES OF MY LIFE TILL DATE ! , BUT ITS UTTERLY DISGUSTING THE WAY PEOPLE GET TREATED IN THE CAMPUS , EVEN THE ALUMNI !

My dear juniors ,
IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS IN THE OPPOSITE GENDER , JUST BE CAREFUL ! INFORM YOUR PARENTS IN ADVANCE TO IGNORE ANY LETTERS FROM IIITDM WHICH EXAGGERATE THAT YOU ARE MISBEHAVING IN THE CAMPUS OR SPENDING TIME WITH A PERSON OF THE OPPOSITE GENDER. YOU OFTEN GET STALKED BY THE SECURITY GUARDS , WHO ACTUALLY BEHAVE LIKE MONARCHS. SOME PEOPLE in IIITDM ARE REALLY JOBLESS AT TIMES !

THE DIRECTOR AND THE ADMINISTRATION SHOULD FOCUS ON better PLACEMENTS , ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AND INDUSTRY EXPOSURE RATHER THAN IMPOSING ASHRAM RULES AND BLOCKING MAIL ID'S WHEN AN ISSUE GETS REPORTED. YOU SOW THE SEEDS OF HATRED TOWARDS THE INSTITUTE IN THE STUDENTS , WHICH YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO.

**FOR THE PEOPLE ASPIRING TO JOIN this so called INSTITUTE OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE that ONLY has state of art academics, infrastructure and being run by freak personals with a worst administration , please keep all the above things in mind. Parents , please make sure you don't get freaked out seeing kiddo messages/letters from institute. You will definitely get to know about your kids if the issue is severe.

People currently in the campus , i pity you all. Hope you guys pass out with loads of memories and scale to a greater heights.

The only pros : You shall study along with some of the best brains. The academics , facilities , infrastructure is great. Profs are co-operative . supportive and interacting. These are some of the attributes that an Institute of National Importance should possess. I don't think these are extra's offered by the institute.

** The 4 star reviews and 5 star reviews that you see are from the current students. They do know the truth and they don't want to get screwed up by writing the truth in the reviews.

** Detailed reviews that you find here are from the alumni and they actually reveal the other side of the institute. All the aspirants and parents should keep all these in mind !!!!

Im doing M.Des Electronic System Design here. Excellent facilities, Knowledgeable Teachers, Eco-friendly campus, Advanced and Inspiring course structure. Overall an excellent learning opportunity for students who aspire to reach new heights.
