One of the oldest engineering institutes of this country. Recently, it has been upgraded to an Institute of National Important making it at par with the NITs of the country. However, syllabus and lab facilities are a bit outdated and has to be improved in order to further enhance the status of the institute.

Legacy maintained year after year and nurture students which led to skilled India.

IIEST Kolkata, formerly known as BESU shibpur is a frontier institute in the state of West Bengal. Now, it is an institute of national importance.

Second oldest engineering college in India and indeed one of the best college. Current NIRF rating is 19 among engineering colleges and 36 in overall category. Originally established in 1856, it is now recognised as an institute of national importance under MHRD by government of India.

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (IIEST Shibpur) is a premier public technical and research university located at Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. Its recognised as an Institute of National Importance under MHRD by the Government of India. Established in 1856, IIEST Shibpur is the 2nd oldest engineering institution of the country, after IIT Roorkee.

It is the best college. Students are best. Very good in studies. Faculty is great. Campus is best. In nut shell its marvelous.

Studied (1975-80) in the college (Bengal Engineering College, then); an old reputed but emerging from the bad days of the 6os. The college had old but functioning infrastructures and good teaching staff. Visited the place two more times when it was deemed university and IIEST. Premises need good maintenance and face uplift. Downing hall, where we stayed in ist year was in pathetic conditions. A potential place that needs some investment and good management.

It's a nice experience I had. I visited the place during my summer internship. The mentors work hard to teach you and get the best of you. You also get holidays on Saturday and Sunday. The hostels are good and lab facilities are awesome! Indeed it is one of the premiere institute in India! It currently ranks 19th for Engineering all over India.

Breeding ground of some of the country's best engineers and scientists. Only issue is with the PR management.Lots of uneccessary negative publicity have hit the image. But things have dramatically turned around in recent years. It used to be the best engineering college in the country since its inception in 1857 till the flourishing of IIT's. Its well on his way to regain the lost glory.

great college,great atmosphere,teachers and labs ,classromm.Hostels are a bit average but thats the only drawback.Better than all nits except trichy,warangal,surathkal and allahabad.Better than atleast 14 new iits.Second best engineering college in west bengal after IIT KGP

Very old Institute but has very modern facilities for students. Located beside Hoogly River. It is as great as Jadavpur University! It has a big and beautiful ground which we call 'Lords'!

One of the best and oldest college in india providing dual degree course along with an EXIT OPTION to opt only for Btech.

Here we can talk to the nature. Come and see. But at the end of the day, you are to give your best . The nature will automatically cooperate. Cool environment for carrying out your studies.

Wonderful institution for pursuing bachelor's of engineering in any stream.Iiest boasts of having a very good faculty in computer science.Campus is lush green with two fields and ponds.But the condition of hostels are not that good.Most of the buildings were constructed during the British era.So heritage structures are a common sight here.

Second oldest engineering college in India after IIT Roorkee established in 1856. Has a very rich heritage. It is one of the top ranked engineering institutions in West Bengal. It got its well deserving INI tag in 2014 and has been doing very good there onwards. It has all kinds of facilities from libraries, swimming pool, gymnasium to all well equipped labs and everything a student needs.

IIEST SIBPUR is one the prestigious technical institution of India.its a CFTI(central funded technical institute).its ranks under Top 100(all india) and under 5(wbjee).quality education with excellent faculties and labs are the jubilee point of iiest. It has decent placement record also.

Admission procedure: B.TECH-only through JEE MAINS.

Minimum criteria:For b.tech one should have 75% overall grades in 12 with PCM.

PROS:
(1)Great infrastructure and campus.
(2)2nd old engineering collage of West bengal.
(3)Great brand value.(as comparable to NITS)
(4)Good course structure.
(5)Great professors and faculties
(6)Decent Labs.
(7)so many branches (core & non core)
(8)Good hostel facilities.
(9)Lots of seminars,Hackathons,tech fest are happens.
(10)Good library
(11)Other facilities like GYM,Play ground are also available.
(12)Students from all over the India(mixed culture)
(13)Good management
(14)Lots of MOU and TIE-UPs with companies.
(15)Reasonable Fee structure
(16)At last but not least great placements .specially for non core branches like CS,IT,ETC

CONS:
(1)one of the major problem of the collage is ragging.yup you heard it right.this collage isn't ragging free at all
(2)surrounding environment of hostel in night isn't good.lots of drinkers,smokers are roaming around.

Without this problems this collage is a sure destination for any engineering aspirants.with excellent legacy and prestige this is one of the finest engineering collage of India.companies like GOOGLE,MICROSOFT,L&T,MU SIGMA,ADOBE,AMAZON,FLIPCART,SNAPDEAL,OYO,UBER,TCS,COGNIZANT,ETC are the recruiters.
