About If/when/how
If/when/how: A National Nonprofit Network for Reproductive Justice
If/when/how is a national nonprofit network of law students and lawyers who are dedicated to promoting reproductive justice. The organization was founded in 2003 by a group of law students who recognized the need for legal advocacy in the area of reproductive rights. Since then, If/when/how has grown into a powerful network of over 5,000 members across the United States.
At If/when/how, we believe that reproductive justice is about more than just access to abortion. It's about ensuring that all people have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies and their lives, free from discrimination and coercion. We work towards this goal by providing legal support, education, and advocacy on issues related to reproductive health and rights.
Our members include law students, lawyers, activists, healthcare providers, and community organizers who share our commitment to reproductive justice. Together, we work on a variety of initiatives aimed at advancing this cause.
One of our key programs is our Reproductive Justice Fellowship Program. This program provides funding for law students to work with organizations that are working towards reproductive justice goals. Through this program, we aim to build a pipeline of future leaders in this field.
We also provide training and resources for lawyers who want to get involved in advocating for reproductive rights. Our Legal Advocacy Support Project offers pro bono legal assistance on cases related to abortion access and other issues affecting women's health.
In addition to these programs, If/when/how also engages in policy advocacy at both the state and federal levels. We work with lawmakers and other stakeholders to promote policies that protect access to contraception and abortion services while also addressing broader issues like economic inequality.
Overall, If/when/how is committed not only to protecting existing reproductive rights but also expanding them so that all people can make informed decisions about their own bodies without fear or stigma. We believe that everyone deserves access not only safe but affordable healthcare services regardless of race or gender identity.
