As always it was amazing. Makes me proud to be Australian and to have such a variety of artworks created by Australians. Always love the Top Arts exhibition too.
A must visit and see venue when travelling in Melbourne!
Thought provoking, inventive, multiple media's used. An excellent day out
Wonderful!!! I could see The Pionner and others McCubbin s arts
Great gallery, I have visited many times. This time to see the Colony Exhibition, fantastic display of Aboriginal artifacts and art. Many European artworks in the exhibition as well. Highly recommended.
Heaven for art lovers,
Amazing work by different artists.
Best part is its free and there is a small shallow pool also to cool down ur feet incase ur on fire
And you can also buy cool stuff lil expensive but totally artistic by nature !
Art Work is mind boggling and jaw dropping
Just amazing !
Must visit !
Always something to see and the train station is across the road
Helpful staff and interesting exhibits. Very clean and modern.
Fee indoor place of interest for a weekend afternoon jaunt
Loved the John Olsen exhibition. Beautifully curated with great explanations.
Went to see the Civilization photo exhibit. Although there were some excellent photos, the exhibition as a whole was not my favorite. The gallery is a nice space.
A great, Australian artist focussed gallery. Most of the exhibitions are usually free, and building itself is in a great central location.
if you love building architect and art then this place the place to go
Good variety of art , security keen to help and point out cloak room and point out arts of interest. Free guided tours. Clean. Smells like oil paintings.
Del Kathryn Barton exhibition is huge and breath-taking.
Very beautiful!! Australian artist exhibitions, excellent !!
I enjoyed it very much. There were lots of great works. There was something for kids in English commentary, and it was possible to read without resistance.
Came here for a school excursion. The tour guide we had was amazing, the funniest guy I know, and still informative. Even if you're not into art I can guarantee that you'll still love it. A must for locals and tourists alike.
Pretty cool art museum; seemed to be something for everyone and I really like the aboriginal exhibition.
A great space with interesting and wonderful Art works , installations , fashion , trends , ideas and inspiration. I m forever popping in to see the latest
One of the most impressive art galleries I have ever visited in the 18 countries I've been to in my life.
Always a great visit. Some great pieces, and some not so great.
This is definitely a must see gallery for those living and visiting Melbourne. The majority of the art gallery is free for the public to view and they do have a cloak room for those who have big coats and bags. The gallery is very clean, aesthetically pleasing and spacious which accommodates a comfortable visit for all even during peak hours of operation.
There is a great mixture of Australian, International, traditional and modern art for all appreciators to walk away with something for the intellect. There are about 3 levels of captivating art work so if you take your time viewing all the exhibits you could be here for a good couple of hours onwards. Plenty of seating is available to take a load off and special seating is provided for the bigger works for you to take in all there is to take in.
I had the pleasure of visiting the paid exhibit for Baldessin/Whiteley and did not regret the $18 entry. There is a great video playing in one of the rooms that gives you great insight into the artists plus there are copies of their book filled with art essays on their work. If you aren't thrilled with the idea of reading a big book, there are plenty of description plates accompanying the art through the exhibit. It's not a large collection of art but the quality and presentation is top notch. The gallery used appropriate lighting to bring out the mood in Baldessin's sculptures and Whitley's darker works. Overall it is an experience not to be missed while the exhibit is still running.
I recommend the Ian Potter gallery to all who love art. It is free so you have no excuse not to visit.
This is the nice place near the Flinders Street Melbourne. You can see lots of things inside it, and yes! In the canteen food was delicious I really enjoyed
Always an informatitve experience, especially if you make use of the free tours at 11, 12, 13:00 or 14:00.
A great place to spend an afternoon, it is a well curated collection
Stark architecture with glimpses of the city that contrast and/or complement the wide range of exhibits within. There is something here to suit everyone's tastes.
This is the Australian-content counterpart to the National Gallery of Victoria, so if you want to check out the Aussie art stuff, here's your destination Apart from the Traditionalist section you're probably familiar with, there's also an Indigenous art section that made me smile (a good counterpoint to the other collection ) and a selection of temporary exhibitions on the upper floor. Must do!
Most of them are free to visit, special exhibitions need to buy tickets.
I adore this art gallery. There is always a high quality display of both contemporary and older Australian art works that are well curated and thoughtful.
A good visual experience of art and sculpture. Place has a very serene vibe. Loved the overall ambience.
Australian Art Museum, permanent exhibition of art from the 19th century to the present day. A changing exhibition of Aboriginal artists who criticize the treatment received and received by the natives to this day. Exciting, painful and irritating. I had tears in my eyes.
Simply magical and a must see for all visitors to Melbourne. It has a range of high calibre international visiting exhibitions and changing exhibitions from a massive collection of world and australian art amassed over centuries.
It is a place full of Australian history, inevitable in its visit to Melbourne.
Well, what can you say! A cultural icon with THE best exhibitions
Always well curated. Free exhibitions are as good as the curated ones. Plus I've never met a museum gift shop I didn't like and this one is excellent.
Excellant gallery with many spaces and contemporary and modern art. Free access, free cloak room.
Interesting art gallery especially the part dedicated to design.
A great art centre.
Most exhibitions are free of charge.
The place is clean and tidy.
All the great Australian art you could hope to see, and all in one place.
Spanning nearly 40 years, from 1980 to 2018, Designing Women highlights the ongoing role of female designers as a dynamic and critical force in shaping contemporary design culture.
Architecturally I loved it
The facade looks great
Nice collection of aboriginal art. Free entry. Cafe with a view.
Very modern and with new exhibits to cater for all ages.
It is an art museum centered on art and contemporary art originating from Aboriginal.
