A beautiful nature preserve right in your own backyard. This place offers a nice hike no matter the season. You can walk through the forest or take the wooden walkway though the wetland preserve. Very educational.

Huntley meadows is a great place for a walk. The lack of bikes (they're prohibited) means you can relax a bit and enjoy nature and the mix of forest, wetlands, and water mean you can experience a diverse environment. We often see turtles, heron, and frogs while we walk the dog.

Beautiful, have seen snakes, turtles, and an abundance of birds and waterfowl. Has a boardwalk through the woods to the water, and a lookout at the end of the boardwalk in the water. Great day trip.

We've enjoyed a lot walking on this trail, seeing groundhogs, little cute snakes, big turtles, fish, lots of baby frogs and birds. Something very different in this area. We will definitely go back.

A park great for walking and wild life observation. Not the best for running and definitely not for biking. Biking isn't allowed on the trail. The trail on the visitor center side is about 2 miles long.
The first half ( right side) is mostly wooden broad walk through the wetlands, where running was prohibited. Part of broad walk can be littered with duck dropping if plenty of them around and can make walking challenging. :P The second half of the trail is just a mile long. If you want more mileage for running, you would need to back and forth on it.

The park is well kept, a great place to go if you want to observe nature and take wildlife or landscape photos. The paths and trails are maintained and in great condition along with the boardwalks that go through the wetlands. The guides are also very friendly and helpful. If you enjoy the outdoors and nature I would highly recommend this park. When we went there were beaver dams and lodges but we didn t see any beavers. We also saw ducks, Canadian geese, frogs and raccoons.

We love this park! Great boardwalk through marshland who knew a gem like this was in Alexandria? The kids got snake snap bracelets from the gift shop and they were such a hit the first time we got them, we made another trip to buy more. Beautiful park. Wear sunscreen and bug spray. Lots of poison ivy during the summer so stick to the path.

Huntley Meadows Park is what I like to to call "ugly nature". The boardwalks are fun to walk through but you won't be blown away by the murky water atmosphere. However, when you're living in a metro and need yourself a quick nature fix, I wouldn't hesitate to head on over.

Wonderful park with a nature center, boardwalk, and interpretive trails. Worth the trip out from other areas of the DMV. Take at least two hours to walk around and enjoy the whole thing if it's your first time. There are many interesting birds, snapping turtles, beavers, muskrats, and other creatures to slow you down. There is nothing else quite like it in the area!

Great little park with a miles of trail and a boardwalk that puts you right in the middle of the wetlands. You can spot minnows, tadpoles, frogs, and even kingfishers, if you are patient and on the lookout for them. Nice visitors center, which is unfortunately closed due to COVID containment. The only downside to this places nice facilities and popularity is the limited parking lot space. If you come on the weekends be prepared to park along the entry road because the lot can fill up by mid morning.

Absolutely beautiful. Lots of wildlife and great place to walk through a marsh. The wooded trails are very nice. Expect lots of nature photographers on the weekend. Also a great place for bird watching.

Beautiful park. There is a nice path through the woods that goes into the marsh. Several places to stop and rest (if needed) along the path. There's also a nature center and pavilions (though closed at time of our visit due to covid 19). We saw lots of animals - turtles, frogs, birds, butterflies, and even small lizards.

Great paths to walk. Both paved and unpaved. There are two entrances to the park with a nature/educational center on the southern side. Plenty of parking with a volunteer donation of $2 suggested per visit. A great bird watching location.

Beautiful park. Lots of wildlife. Nice boardwalk suitable for wheelchair (could be a bit tough after rain since you have to go over a crushed rock trail to get to it). Trails are suitable for a stroller.

I've only visited this place a couple times but I absolutely loved it. Beautiful walking trails, no trash littering the ground, and great tall trees that help you feel like you're away from the busy city. The fact that this gem is between so many neighborhoods is makes it even more special... Like a hiking trail in your own back yard. Parking lot is small, but I've never seen it even halfway full.

I have been going to Huntley Meadows Park for 4 years. I love coming here during spring because I can see pretty spring ephemeral flowers, and see the geese have their babies here. The walkway is beautiful, and you definitely feel like you are a part of the wetland because the walkway takes you to the middle of it. It is a magical sight. I bring my binoculars to look at great blue herons, great egrets, and green herons, and to see if I get lucky in spotting other birds/animals.

I saw a poster on their community board about a woodcock walk. It was the last woodcock walk that they were hosting this year, and in the 2 previous walks the group didn t see them. On the last walk we were able to see 2-3 woodcock males displaying romance. We also saw 2 owls. The naturalist that led this walk was awesome! I can t wait for future classes that Huntley Meadows Park offers.

I love visiting during the summer too. Mosquito spray is a must during the summer here.

There are 3 entrances to the park. I only have been using 2. Both the Lockheed Blvd. and the South Kings Highway have parking lot structures. The Lockheed Blvd. entrance has the visitor center with restrooms.

This park is beautiful! I will continue visiting the park!

This a great park to do some bird watching as well as see the different array of wildlife while you are walking on the boardwalk. The trails are about a couple of miles long, not a big as some of the other parks but definitely a great place to get some exercise in. Just make sure to bring the water bottle and the bug spray during the summer times because it does get hot. Great part to visit in the Fairfax area.
