This school changed my life completely. I could not thank my mother and grandmother enough for sending me to this school when I was younger. This is an honest review, which i am making now that I am 31 years old and can reflect on the entire experience. I went to the school for only one year but did attend the summer camp for 3 years. I wish i had opted to graduate here but my mother gave me the choice to choose, and I chose public school, which was a terrible choice. The staff at this school taught me discipline, leadership, and how to be a man, which my mother nor my father failed to teach me. I can truly say I cherish my time here, and the friendships I made. And the lessons that were instilled have paid off well into my later years. Like the other guy said, I was in excellent shape as a bonus. I would encourage anyone curious to send their child to the summer camp for 3 weeks (you can choose 6 weeks as well) to see if they respond well, which is located on a beautiful natural lake. Best years on my life.

I was there for 5 and a half years and they made me withdraw because of stupid words I said to a teacher. But to be perfectly honest the school is alright other than my last year. The school changed my life and made me make friends that I will hold on to for my entire life. I learned many things and also enjoyed all the staff and what they did for me and keeping my head held high even when it wasn't and I became depressed. I love Howe and will always miss it

This place has taught me what great academics look like. The teachers go the extra mile to help you with homework you don't understand. The athletics program is truly improving with the New Athletics director.

I used to come here in the Summers back when I was a kid I would come here to work in the corn fields.. while other kids had an awesome and exciting summer at Disney World or six flags.. Hey but some of us get to see the life of the bills never stop coming at a early age.. By the way everything I ate here was made with chicken a would get tired of everything having chicken.. One day they had burritos and I got so excited yes finally just beens and beef it was the first time I was introduce to a chimichanga of chicken and cheese aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I loved feeding the fish at the small fish pond.. And beat every one in basketball .. Awesome summers..

Academics along with a structured environment was the reason I chose Howe. Last year we brought our GPA up from a 1.7 to a 3.1 and was very excited to return this year. This year my first communication with administration was August 28th voicing my concerns with 2 failing grades. One in World History and another in Biology. I reached out to both teachers and asked for help. When I saw no results, I reached out to the Dean and was assured they would address my concerns. But after the 1st grading period we still ended up with a D & F despite my early intervention. After parent teacher conferences, I still was not assured that academic issues were being addressed. I then decided to work with my cadet every night through Skype. This made a significant difference, but what am I paying the school for if I have to do this? The struggles continued and despite my meetings with teacher and staff, changes were not being made and my cadet was not accountable. His behaviors continued to decline as well and I could not believe my son was behaving this way. This was no longer the environment that would shape and grow young leaders and provide a positive environment. My son was relieved when we told him he was being withdrawn.

I came to Howe back in the late 70's. I was a troubled youth. Lost both of my parents by age 15. Howe taught me many things especially about life. Honor and respect stand out the most. In my senior year at Howe I got in trouble and had a Board of Review for dismal. Although there was no direct evidence of my misdeed, when asked I admitted to it. Howe taught me how to stand up be a man and take responsibly for my actions. It was perhaps the hardest lesson I learned. But it was the right decision. Looking back, I of course wanted to graduate from Howe. Although I don't have the official Howe diploma I live my life as though I do.

As a parent I cannot say enough about what goes on at this school. It does have a military structure but that's what has given my son the self control and confidence (which he did not have at his prior school) to thrive. It has been a beautiful thing to see this transformation. The loving but firm guidance by teachers and staff have provided my son the platform needed to maintain solid grades, participate in sports and succeed socially with his peers. I can say without hesitation that after one year at Howe my wife and I have a different kid. I look forward to the next two years as he matures and moves up the ranks. He's now thinking of how he can help other kids (this is an entirely new concept for him to be sure). Howe works tirelessly day after day to help grow these kids. As a result, from the outside looking in, they absolutely produce miracles.

I was a troubled kid but by going to Howe I learned respect. My most memorable moment was Mr. Pagin!! Any school work I needed help with he was always there for me to help. He also gave me hard love but I will never forget him!! Going to Howe was the best thing my parents did for me!!

I attended Howe from 2001-2005. Delta Company. Although I didn't know it then, this school by far had one of the most influential impacts on me as a young adult. It saved me from going to an average high school and having no structure in my life at all. I have kept close my leadership training and all of the life lessons that the staff and cadet leaders have taught me, many of whom 15 years on I am in regular contact with.

Although I have heard the new admin is not as strong as the past administration, I would still recommend this experience to anyone. You will build life long relationships here and learn so much in the process. The positive impact having this school on a resume is priceless.
