I negotiated a lease for an expensive home in Weston and Lina Nasser of Howard Chase's office was the broker representing the landlord. I even made a special trip from Canada to see the property itself. Lina, through my broker sent me a lease that had major inconsistencies and errors in it. I asked her to fix the errors and to change the start date by two weeks as, since the negotiations had taken rather long, my movers would be on holiday on the lease start date. She responded by stating that she would list the property (it has never been formally listed) unless I agreed to the original start date. This she did actually claiming it was the owners decision. I called Lina and from the tone of her voice am certain that it was her who convinced the owners to list the property over again and ignore and abandon our negotiations. The rent on this property being asked is $10,000 monthly. Not a cheap one. Yet the service provided by this broker with her arrogant attitude and ignorance of how to properly draft a lease was incredible. She is someone who should not be in the real estate business as her ability to negotiate and deal with clients is beyond bad. One only has to read her last email to my broker to sense her hostile attitude. God only knows how she manages to do any deals. I reported Lina's bad behaviour to the owner of her agency. While he was sympathetic, the best he could do was advise me to have my broker contact her. A classic case of kicking the can down the road. You make your own decision about who to deal with in your next real estate transaction.
