Beautiful little church with very special bell tow...

Beautiful little church with very special bell tower.

Hover church was built during Knud Estriden's large church building in the 1070s and may have been dedicated to St. Nicolaus. In any case, the church's granite baptismal font shows an episode from this weekend's work. About Hover and Hornstrup churches are also told a story that links the two white churches on each side of Grejsdalen.

The church's tower was reduced to a little above the height of the ship in recent years, so that in 1876 it was brought down to the height of the ship, so that it came under the roof, whereby the church immediately appears as an old charred church without a tower.

Regarding the church bell, in an old manor description from 1767, it is reported that it must have hung at the west end of the church. Presumably it was moved from there to a wooden bell house in 1850-51.

The baptismal font is a beautiful piece of granite work with reliefs of, among others, the faithful Christ, the crucifixion and the baptism of Jesus. Originally, the baptismal font has been painted, which can be seen especially on its foot.

The baptismal font with the believing Christ
The baptismal font is distinguished by a rare motif, namely Skt. Nicholas, who is throwing a bag of money into the poor family whose 3 girls were about to be sold for prostitution. Among the other motifs is Christ Pantokrator, a crucifixion motif, Skt. Michael as dragon killer, as well as (probably) Jesus' baptism. Detail of the oak cross
