No changing tables in the men s restrooms so good luck single dads or dads taking their kids to the zoo. Address google supplies for parking is wrong so once again good luck. Open late fridays and Saturday s but exhibits still close on regular schedule time so better hurry. Most exhibits are to small for the animals in them. Like the Giraffes, sea lions, gorillas, leopards... etc. just sad. Won t go back. I m used to the Columbus Ohio zoo which is outstanding if anyone reads this please visit the home of Jack Hannah and the Wilds. Columbus does a great job in treating their animals as if they are still in the wild. Houston, please release your animals to the wild.

Pros: nice landscape excluding exhibits.

Highly recommended as a great family weekend trip during early Spring or late Fall. Obviously this is due to Houston's climate, as Summer is almost unbearable. Especially if you have younger kids. Nationally, this zoo isn't very high on my list, but due to the lack of family friendly weekend activities in the Houston area it's definitely a top choice. I'm a very Happy season pass holder and will continue to be for many years.

Good and surprising to see a lot of animals I'd not heard of before, esp. the primates. Sorry they seem to have shut down most of their discounts. But a very worthwhile visit, and a lot more to see than we had time for that day.

Many exhibits and all the animals look lively and happy. Great activity for fun with the family or the little ones. There are options for feeding the giraffes, watching sea lions do tricks, and learning a lot about the different animals there. Pro tip, try to make it early. After noon it's just too hot for everybody, even the animals! Make sure to bring snacks and water!

To much money, for what you have , $23,95 for adults and babies !!!? Come on ,my nephew was trying to take the kids but when we got there, he has 3 kids and his wife, it was almost $110

This zoo is doing better than ever! New exhibits and some more animals than before. The elephant exhibit is incredible. The splash pad was a welcomed sight on a 95 degree day this Memorial Day weekend. Get and Icee and some chicharrones!

Parking is a mess and food is quite expensive considering the price of admission. If you have a Texas Lone Star card entry is $5 a person, up to two adults and three children which gives lower income families an opportunity to enjoy an amazing Zoo. Overall, we plan to visit again. Also of you attend college within the Houston city limits entry is FREE!!!! Prefect for a first date or downtime between breaks and finals!

Our kids loved it. Make sure they wear their swimsuits for fun in the splashpad area. No fee for the splashpad. We enjoyed all the bird species. Plenty of shade to keep out of the Sun for a bit. Be sure to pack an umbrella or poncho when it rains. Our crew enjoyed the rain because it was cooler and most of the crowd scattered. Only down side was the price of admission for our big family.

Alot of great exhibits but the center was shut down due to construction. Food was expensive and even can drinks were $3.50 but that's to be expected. All in all, it was a great place to visit and the kids had alot of fun.

It was fun we went on a free day. My daughter loved it and so did my niece and sister who I took with me. This was everyone s first time but mine. The only thing I didn t like was how the photos were so pricy and I could understand how the small ones were the same price as the medium ones. Those prices for photos are crazy.

A great experience. It s nice that there s a nice place to be around nature and see animals in such a large city. It s not a huge zoo but it s still really nice. Many different exhibits and each one is designed so well.

The Houston Zoo has something for everyone. It's a beautifully landscaped park with lots of shade, happy healthy animals and quality attractions. There is even a playground for toddlers and small water park for kids, perfect for Houston's hot summer days. It has one of the nicest carousels I've seen. The Membership program has some of the best perks in town, including express entry (lines for non-members are long on busy days) and invitations to cool events. This is one of the best places in Houston to take your friends and family to spend the day enjoying nature.

Great price, great atmosphere. We have been members of the Houston Zoo for several years. Their are not many places I can genuinely say we have gotten our monies worth from like I can for this zoo. So many animals that are well taken care of, state of the art exhibits, and a friendly environment!

The Houston zoo is a treasure. It has a wide variety of animals and is a good place to learn and be entertained. There is plenty for people of all ages to enjoy. I recommend coming prepared to walk and plenty of water during the warmer months. On a side note, there is a pretty good cafe located outside of the zoo near the lake with good food and reasonable prices.

This is a great zoo with lots of options, ramps, and attractions that aren't too far apart for little people. The only downsides are the incredible expense and how hot it is most of the year. I've been too other zoos that have misting stations and a splash pad - my kids would basically live here if that was added!

Amazing!!!

Go early if you can; the heat can be brutal, and a lot of the animals sleep through it. We were lucky enough to see the lions being let out and start to play. The new bear exhibit is nice, and my kid loves the playground and children's zoo. Be prepared to walk. Bring your own water bottles, because there's a lot of places to fill up.

This is an excellent zoo. We loved the juxtaposition of beautiful wildlife and the city skyline in the same view. Easy parking, great location, you could spend all day here and not realize it.

The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the parking situation. Took forever to find where parking is. There needs to be more communication of where to park. Thank you random stranger for helping us know where to go. I enjoyed that almost all of the animals were up and about. We got to see some animals we have never seen like the Tapir, Fossa and mongoose. It was nice to actually see all the cats. It was cool to see snakes active. I am excited to come back to see how the South America exhibits are next year.

The Houston Zoo is consistently a good place to visit. It is a different experience during the Covid 19 pandemic but it is actually easier to park and the controlled entry times help with the crowd. The crowd flow techniques are effective but for us reverse the visit flow since the elephants are last in the start to the right and work around the zoo exterior.

I went all the way from cleveland just for the zoo to be closed.
It was going to be the first time I took my daughter's to the zoo and it was all ruined.
I called the place more than 10 times and a machine told me there was no one to pick up my call to call later, how disappointed.

This is a great zoo and the memberships are really affordable. But! Some animals seem very anxious and are constantly pacing in a way that seems like they aren't very happy. A couple of the wild cats have even worn a path into the ground with their pacing and it's sad to see them so agitated. Other than that the place is good, well designed, lots of stuff to see.

I really enjoy this zoo. They have a beautiful variety of animals, and the habitats are bigger than some I've seen at other zoos. It seems that they take great care of their animals here. There are plenty of inside exhibits to keep cool in the Houston heat, and they allow you to bring in your own food and drinks. If you have the extra money to spend, feed the giraffes! I think it's $7ish.

Very good zoo, they are updating at the moment and it will be even better! Everything is clean and orderly and the employees are friendly and helpful. We asked an employee where the restroom was and she walked us to is location just to make sure we wouldn't miss it! You can take your own stroller/wagon or rent one. The price of admission is very reasonable.

Lots of shade and up close animal exhibits. Coolers and outside foods allowed. Big bug exhibit and carousel cost extra. Kids loved the splash pad. Was an all day affair, took us 7 hours to go through the whole thing.

I was positively amazed at all the animals. So glad they had a map to guide one around the zoo. It would be easy to get lost and go in circles. They also had labels and strategically placed map boards that let you know where you were making it easy to decide which way you wanted to go. I enjoyed my visit so much the time just flew by. Loved the aquarium too.

Have been here before and the zoo is good. But this time I spent 45 minutes in the parking lot to find a spot and finally gave up and returned home.they'd closed a section of the lot and so everyone was just wondering around to find a spot to park.

I love Love Love the zoo. They are actually improving it. Can t wait to see the new updates. This is the first year we became members for year. It s $70/membership for a year. Can t beat that!

Its was ok very expensive pretty crowded people don't really understand social distancing your required to wear a face mask looked like a lot of renovation going on inside the zoo parking is horrible and you have to get tickects online ahead with a time you need to be there they are only allowing so many people at a time but enjoyed the day

I haven't been to a zoo since I was a small child and the Houston Zoo is a delight! They really cover it all from insects, reptiles, birds, animals of prey, lions, giraffes, gorillas and even under the sea! They even offer wheel chair and electric scooters for rent. It took about 2.5 hours to see it all. I highly recommend!

Visited during Zoo lights, amazing experience. You don't see many animals as this is all about the Zoo's Christmas light displays. There is a guided path to guide you throughout the Zoo as well as hot chocolate, snacks or beer along the path. Great family time
