As the name suggests, this hotel has its origin during the Raj era and everything oozes of royalty, be it the rooms, the open spaces, the welcome, the food, the paintings and the overall ambience. Situated in the heart of the city, this has stood as a witness of times bygone and the life in those days.

It's one the old and an expensive hotel of Delhi situated on Janpath road. Walking distance from Janpath metro station. Been here couple of times perhaps food played a bit of soil sport for me, service was good. For food go to Taj or Maurya

As it's name suggests the hotel is an imperial legacy, reputed to be the first five star hotel in Delhi, started to serve the elite of the British Empire of the time.
It continues to be an exclusive and impressive hotel, with its location at the most expensive business district in India and one such in the world.
Not a place for the crowds, it attracts the premiere section of the elite.
Top media functions are held here during which the who's who of the government and the business and the media throng the place.
The interior is exquisite and superb, rather dazzling and enchanting in its beauty, glamour, glitter and extravaganza.

Also reputed for its premium quality of food, especially for its seafood restaurant.

Good.

Besides the outstanding architecture and layout, the coffee shop (1911) at the Imperial is a place you can visit again and again. Instead of the buffet, I had a Kerala fish curry with rice, Meen Mappas. The masala was understated and did not interfere with the taste of the fish. In fact, because if coconut milk base, it heightened the taste. I only wish the rice was red and not polished basmati
