Excellent location 5 minute walk to colosseum hotel staff very helpful and friendly, breakfast very basic, bedding and towels changed daily, decor a bit old and worn we were in room 102 overlooking the street, I would come again

I stayed until today in that hotel ... all highly recommended, the fundamental location, but .. I would like to make a constructive contribution .. the toilet is very basic ... and cleanliness is scarce!
Quality price very Bno!
I recommend having breakfast at the hotel ... it has a lot of variety, for all tastes!
I would go back..of course!

I do not recommend it at all: a very seedy hotel. Very small, old, dark and dirty rooms. The closet, the bathroom ... All very small. The elevator only goes up to the first floor. You have to leave the hotel and re-enter to access the second one by a staircase that is outside the hotel itself.
The service also leaves to be desired. They gave us an old, heavily painted map that was even missing a piece.
The only good or even very good thing is the location.

Located in an excellent and strategic location. Perfect for doing everything on foot in the vicinity of the Colosseum and Roman Forum or using the metro system. It has several restaurants in the immediate vicinity and is not far from other famous places like the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.
The hotel is old but well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast place is quite small and is sometimes crowded. I considered a good cost x benefit to stay a week in it.

Hotel Solis was the best hotel in roma. The room was large and nicely decorated. When we first arrived, the hotel staff asked if we wanted them to tell us about Rome. They gave us a map and circled all the areas of interest, telling us the best way to get to each place and short walk to Colosseum .Overall it was amazing experience with wonderful, friendly staff. If you go to Rome, this is where you should stay.

Room was really small like a closet! Shower was plugged after about 30 seconds of the water being on. I went down to the desk, and they said wait 30 minutes it will go down we check in the morning!

Really please hotel in a great location near the Colosseum and the centre of town. The rooms are large and air conditioned and the service is wonderful. Breakfast is a bit basic for British tastes

The room was cute, that is, but room service was bad: tablecloths, put on the floor because clearly dirty, was not changed but rather folded and put back in place, the bathroom was not stocked with toilet paper and get to the second floor had to take two elevators including one that is constantly blocked. The breakfast was bad, the eggs were overcooked and the cappuccino watered down.

The pictures on the hotel website, (must be either photoshopped or taken 10 years ago) of the 'sound proof' bedrooms do not reflect the supposing Superior Room booked.
Our room 106 was very small and tatty, the bathroom was disgusting, needed a damn good clean and repairing. Enough dust in the bedroom to reflect how much the room needed a clean. As for the 'sound proofed room' as advertised hahahahahahaha not funny we could even hear people talking in the lobby, the room next door and people on the stairs. The room was dimly lit probably to disguise the badly chipped furniture and the damp patches on the walls. The curtains also had to remain closed or the adjacent rooms could see straight into your bedroom.
The hotel really needs an update. Just replacing the threadbare stairs carpet or repairing the holes in the seat in the lobby would be a start.
Location is perfect for visiting the main places but what a poor hotel. Outside is a sign 3 Star it must of been stolen from another hotel. The Solis is a poor 2 Star at best.

On arrival at the hotel it was said on site that we due to internal hotel problems (probably overbooking !!) in another hotel stay. We then had to stay in a 1-star hotel on the other side of the city and still paid the same amount! The hotel Solis did not refund the amount, which we had paid too much! That is not how it works.

We stayed 3 days in Hotel Solis. Too bad we had cold water(shower) for 2/3 days. Its cold in December, and this makes it hard to warm up at the end of a long wet and cold day.

Positive feedback:
Location was amazing.

The air conditioning works perfectly, it is the only thing that stands out, after cleaning is not the best, the breakfast is very poor and of poor quality, the bread looks old. The rooms are well sized, the beds are comfortable, the TV is silver screen but they offer it as it has 200 channels of which must be 16. If possible location, is very well located, you have where to eat at a good price a few meters away, and easy access to the Coliseum and the Trevi Fountain. The staff is friendly, they do not speak Spanish, but they know how to make themselves understood. The area is very safe. The mini bar only has water, but at the same price as buying it outside.

Great location!! We had stayed there for 3 days. We were in walking distance of The Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and many more historic sites. Great restaurants and friendly staffs. The employees at Hotel Solis was so nice. I would stay there again because of the staff and the location.

I put a star and they should give you the option of not giving any.
The hotel left a lot to be desired, we took a SUPERIOR triple room, I emphasize superior, because that was what we paid for.
The first day we practically flooded the bathroom, we complained and the boy told us that it was our problem to wash our hands very quickly hahahahahaha, the next morning we said it at reception and another person came up and recognized us that the toilet was actually leaking and the sink and the solution that did not give was to put a bucket under towels, come on amazing.
The WC was horrible, doing nothing there was impossible, they said it was for the disabled, if a disabled person had to sit there they report them.
The buffet was poor and of poor quality.
On the morning of arriving I got up and there were bedbugs in bed, thanks to them I have an allergic reaction since I arrived and I am on medication. And to top it off there was a loose spring in the bed and we almost fear a disgust with one of the children. DISGUST
I will never return to this hotel. It is a shame and I do not recommend it for ANYTHING. With what I paid that happened this is reportable

The hotel is very well located, excellent reception service, breakfast is varied and very good. The room I played a small for my taste but I could see another and they are spacious.
They must improve the cleanliness of the carpet of the elevator and the entrance. For the rest excellent attention.

Too good the hotel solis. Located in the heart of Rome. In 3 days I was able to visit all the historical sites. And that on foot without paying a single public transport. Too good location this hotel. Do not hesitate if you have the opportunity to stay there.

Stayed for 4 nights. Hotel was nice but disappointed in our room 202. Good view over high street though. No tea or coffee facilities which would have been nice but you could get it downstairs. Very dated and needs a bit of a makeover, however, it was clean and was serviced daily. Great location 3-5 minutes from the colosseum, just around the corner with roman forum, palatine Hill etc. right on the doorstep! - what an amazing surprise! Staff and front of house were the best I ve experienced for a while. Friendly and helpful and always smiling. I will probably stay here again but would request a much nicer room. Overall, if you want value for money, fantastic location and a nice hotel it s perfect! We went to Rome for the sightseeing, walking until our legs dropped off, serious overload of culture and a fab Italian meal we just wanted to sleep! Would recommend! Thank you Hotel Solis!

Stayed in Room 201. Perfect location, great dining all around and transportation networks were close. Hotel needs updating - badly. The carpet was very old and stained, beds are very hard and the walls dirty (they really needed painting). By European standards the bathroom was large. The room was kept clean each day, so thank you to the staff. The ladies at the breakfast bar are great. Always a smile. The front desk guys were very good and we really appreciated them however the older gentleman was quite grumpy and wasn't thrilled when we needed assistance. For example I had to struggle to get towels because he wouldn't believe there weren't any in the room. I finally ignored him and waited for one of the others to come if I needed something.

The next time I'm in Rome I would probably choose another Hotel only because I am a stickler for clean carpets or tiled / hardwood floors, softer beds and clean walls. If you don't care about those things, and you're looking for low cost and a perfect location, then Hotel Solis is the place to stay.

The saying, you get what you pay for is very true in this case.

Perfect .... exquisite attention and an endearing reception even though the hotel is 3 stars , it is very cozy and fun, the best thing is the location, close to everything, you can visit several places without the need for a taxi

What a charming hotel! The hotel hosts are very welcoming and were polite throughout our stay. The rooms were very clean, presentable and the right size for what we needed. We did run into a little hitch at the start of the holiday as Easyjet (Our Holiday Provider) never informed the hotel that we requested 2 twin beds. But the receptionist at the time said they will be able to move us in the morning, which turned out to be a better alternative. The breakfast is lovely and has a range of savouries foods on offer, along with a wide range of hot and cold drinks, it runs from 7.30am to 9.30am which gives you plenty of time to get downstairs. They also have a lift for disabled users which is an added bonus. They also allow you to leave you're luggage in a secure locker after you check out on you're last day, as it saves you bringing you're luggage everywhere with you.
Also, the hotel is literally around the corner from the Colosseum and The Roman Forum, I was so surprised how close we were to it! Finally, there are mini markets and fine dining (nicely priced) restaurants just outside the door.

Overall, an enjoyable stay at the Hotel Solis would 100% recommend.

I was a guest of this hotel which is in a strategic position convenient for transport and visits ... near the Colosseum.
I should, however, restored ... a little 'run-down ... not recommend for allergy sufferers because the walls in some rooms are covered with upholstery fabric and the others have worn carpet

I'll give this 2 stars because of the incredible location and the decent bathroom. The room we are in is probably about 8 x 8. This is the smallest cell of a room I have ever seen in my life. There is barely enough space to walk around the bed. The walls are also extremely dirty. The bed is also a tiny full size bed. It has a ridge down the center and the sides slope down. It's difficult to roll over without falling out of bed. I would not recommend staying here.

Edit:after this post they offered us a new room that was way bigger and *nothing* like the closet we had stayed in originally. I think it was literally a closet. This was very generous of them and we had a great stay after that.

Clean, fairly quiet. Excellent location.

Clean, fairly quiet. Excellent location.
The lights/electricity kept cutting out though which was annoying.
Bars, restaurants and mini market on the same street.

Good location, services and decoration ten years ago. Difficult to sleep with the noise of an air conditioning that is the only heating and that is very old and noisy. The bathroom with a tiny and very old shower tray. The breakfast justito and the staff attentive but little else. I would not repeat.

Stopped here For the wife's 40th. Yes some of the Furnishings worn. But the Location and the staff fantastic. Very clean and tidy with water replaced in the Fridge daily. Colousum 3-4 min walk.loved my stay

It was all very good. It was clean, the breakfast was adequate although the place was a bit short. Staff was always very friendly. Italian skills, however, would be an advantage. The hotel is very central. Very good restaurants are located in the immediate vicinity. Free Wi-Fi was available. We had a room on the inside. The view was not great but you did not hear anything from the street. I would book it again!

Staff was nice, location is great but too many negatives to overlook. I definitely got bed bug bites from this hotel. The beds were really uncomfortable too. The shower is impossible to use without flooding the floor. The walls are paper thin. The AC didn't work in our room and we asked 3 times to have it looked at. Never happened. When we checked out we weren't able to use a card to pay the "hotel fee" even though our room was prepaid. This meant we had no cash to pay for our taxi ride to the airport. Super inconvenient thing to learn when you're rushing to catch your flight.

Excellent location for walking around the center of Rome, friendly and welcoming staff; however our room was somewhat small with a small bathroom and tiny shower, "slightly" dated furniture, a plus is the comfortable balcony. Structure located in ZTL accessible after 18.00, parking along the road but the staff was kind to help us find a place. Decent breakfast with little choice.

Terrific staff, fantastic location. Had a truly memorable visit to Rome and would definately stay here again on the next visit. Some lovely restaurants along the road, so after a day of walking and sore feet, you don't have to trek any further for a lovely evening meal. Enjoy.

The staff were extremely helpful with getting transfers to and from the hotel during our stay. They answered email promptly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. The location was really good for getting around the city. The breakfast was much better than expected.
and the hotel is very near to the colosseum just 5 min from the hotel..

It was not a bad experience, but we booked a superior double room and ended up being extremely small, the mattress super deformed and headboards practically nonexistent, on the other hand the carpet and walls left to be desired regarding cleaning. The staff excellent and very friendly. Breakfast very basic, nothing exquisite to highlight. The unbeatable area and quite safe.

Romantic hotel close to all ancient sights.
Good breakfast - the staff is very nice !!
Recommended - for visiting Rome.
However, if you are looking for peace and quiet - then you are in the wrong place in downtown Rome anyway! The windows are well soundproofed.

Nice enough but had to stay at another hotel on the first night which spoiled our holiday as we had to play catch up for the rest of our holiday, breakfast is simple. Could do with some others things to go with the scramble eggs, like tomatoes/ beans, you can t expect a full English breakfast in Rome, however something else to go with the eggs would have been brilliant!! good selection of cakes and pastries and as much tea/coffee/ juice as you like the location is perfect and the hotel its self is very clean, 1 of the hotel staff was extremely nice the others were ok, rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels were put out, reception always has someone behind the counter and you can just come and go as you please throughout the day and night which was good. The beds however I have to say are absolutely terrible so uncomfortable and the tv didn t work and neither did the air conditioning which we really needed as it was very hot, we couldn t leave the windows open because of course your in the centre of the city and it s noisy. As you expect in a city, if we had working air conditioning it would of been so much more comfortable, so with the terrible bed and broken air conditioning we couldn t sleep, which was made worse by having a terrible tv with no English channels only news, with you think might be petty however they had just about every other language tv channel just not English!!! And we wouldn t of been bothered if we could of sleep comfortably and cool!!!!! These stupid small things that are so easy to fix, would make this hotel 4**** but id rate it as 2/3 *** because of these problems.

Great little hotel, extremely helpful staff, arranging a private taxi from the airport at the very last minute!
Brilliantly positioned in the city....if you walk to the end of the street you can see the fantastic Colloseum and are also within walking distance through back streets to other historic attractions.
Room size accommodated a family of four easily, it was clean and all facilities worked fine and a good view of the street.
Breakfast was a good choice of cereals, pastries, bread and eggs.
In all, a perfect location for a couple of days in Rome. I would return.

Fantastic stay here. It was incredibly well priced for the quality of the room, service and location of the hotel. You are literally right around the corner from the Colloseum and forum (under 5min walk) and next to one of the main restaurant and bar streets (but no noise from this). The staff where very helpful and we were able to store our bags before checkin and after checkout. We stayed for 3 nights. Comfortable bedroom with fan and nice bathroom. Little balcony as well which was a good bonus and helpful for drying clothes. Breakfast was the usual sweet cakes for Italy with a mix of breads, crispbreads, cereals and jams. Will be staying here again whenever we find ourselves back in Rome!

A most welcoming and relaxing family run hotel that is situated right in the heart of the city. The staff were by far, the most friendly I have met in many a year. Sight seeing from no more than 2 minutes walk away & so many places to eat, catering for all tastes. "GRAZIE AMICI"

Me and my daughter stayed here last week what a great hotel very friendly staff and a great manager. The rooms were spotless and as promised we got a room with an internal balcony which was really good. The hotel itself is in the perfect location right near the collaseum, there is restaurants everywhere and little shops right by you... Many thanks great stay

We visited Rome arriving by train and with two children aged 8 and 5.
Hotel Solis nice, clean, refined and really helpful and kind employees. but the thing
the location of this hotel is great, about 10 'from Termini Station and the same number from the Colosseum. allowed me to visit the most beautiful places in
Rome, in the Rioni Monti, a beautiful area full of restaurants and clubs which, although not closed to traffic, allows for beautiful evening walks in the characteristic neighborhood.

The staff was very kind and extremely helpful. The rooms are not very large but clean and with attention to detail. The breakfast is very good and valid to face the days of visiting the city. Overall, a very good price / quality combination. We will definitely be back on our next Roman holidays.

Hotel Solis, I would recommend to anyone! It was in the locate in the center of the Heart of Rome, a few block from the Colosseum and The Forums. The staff is absolutely amazing! Their breakfast has a variety of options and the woman who worked it(I can't remember her name ), but she was there Mon thru Sat. She was the kindest woman. She made the best cafe's in Rome! The hotel is quiet, clean, and cozy. Everyone warned me about the beds being harder in Europe. My fiance and I never slept better! The only complaint I would have is that they had an old Wi-Fi system that wasn't always working. Regardless of that, I still give them 5 stars cuz they are amazing in every other way you could imagine! We're going back at the end of this year and hoping to book there again.

My personal experience there was wonderful. Andrea and his staff were very hospitable, and helpful. I can't remember her name but the lady who handles the breakfast during the week was just wonderful. She made me so many delicious cappuccinos, gratis! Perfect location and good prices of you want to be in the middle of everything Roman. I'll stay there again if I can ever get back to Italy.
