Check in was easy the room was amazing. It had a wonderful view.
Very friendly staff although they should learn Spanish.
I am infinitely disappointed to be unable to give a favorable opinion, I booked a hotel in this establishment for one of our executives, the room was dilapidated, very poorly maintained, traces of molds everywhere ... I do not recommend Not this hotel, I'm really sorry.
Very nice hostel: friendly guys at the reception, clean linen and kitchen, toilet and shower in every room and even a small patio! It s only a pity that breakfast is for money, but it s not cheap at all. And I envy these guys who can live and travel like this now, and not in the second half of their lives!
Good hotel and staff even better. Thank you very much Antonio for your warm welcome and your help!
To be a sufficient hostel. It has no lift, and that can be a great handicap
The toilet of the bathrooms is not all good, one has to walk with their cleaning supplies
I stayed there for three nights, nice and quiet place based exactly at the back site of Montmartre. The view from the balcony is nice and romantic
Great location, easy to find (Jules Joffren Metro stop), and walking distance (30 minutes) from Gare de Nord. Or Metro Line 4-- and walk a few blocks.
We had small carry-on duffle bags, so we walked (uphill) through a very urban/ethnic part of Paris, which was fun if you're shopping for cheap shoes and knives.
From Jules Joffren/Le Montclar Montmarte, you are really at the top of the hill... and everywhere else you walk is "down" so it's a GREAT location for hoofing your own body around town (and riding the Metro back!).
The rooms were adequate, the common rooms were friendly, and we met GREAT travelers, who joined us for impromptu sight-seeing-- making our days in Paris WAY more fun. My suggestion-- say outloud in your bunk or in the common room, "Today I'm walking to the Lourve and then to watch the sunset from the steps at Sacre Coeur. Anyone wanna join me?"
This was not a super-budget hostel-- as the location is in a great neighborhood. Yet the actual accommodations aren't as plush as other hostels, given the price. Granted, we chose this hostel for its location, not its amenities. As such, the Le Montclair delivered exactly what I hoped: clean, safe lodging in a fun neighborhood, close to the attractions I wanted to see. That's a solid win.
Great for the price and location. The hostel and located between two metro station, each within a short walk's distance. The bedding was comfortable and soft, but both the noises from the streets and the plumbing sounds made by the toilet every 15 minutes mean guests should prepare earplugs just in case.
The girls were very kind to everything. But the place is far away and the floor you touch does not have an elevator, so if you go with a suitcase to the 5th floor it becomes dense.
Very rudimentary installations and limits. Charming and efficient staff.
My experience was negative. It is not a safe place.
The Hostel has no lift. This is a pretty important point, because it is five (or six?) floors up, and if you've got a lot of luggage or even just one heavy one... Getting up and down is going to be a pain. Getting up and down is *already* tedious enough, because the staircase is a narrow spiral staircase (meaning it's steep since you go more vertical than horizontal)
The rooms have thin walls, so you hear people coming and going, and they (the rooms) feel... tired, I guess is the word. Like they've had a lot of people come and go. This is not a bad thing, just a general vibe of the place. They're airy and well lit, clean and tidy.
The staff is professional, friendly, informative and very helpful, they made my stay that much better. The place also has free maps, wifi and breakfast so if you're on a budget that comes in handy. The wifi signal is pitiful though, you need to be in the lobby to be in range- No one on the top floors can use it (I ended up getting a sim card with a data plan just so I didn't have to keep coming downstairs)
Overall, I would stay there again. It's not very close to popular landmarks (besides the magnificent Sacre Coeur), but it is close to a Metro station, so getting around is easy
Very nice hostel, clean . We got here a little early and I was sick. They let me check in early so I could lay down. Front desk VERY NICE. We enjoyed our stay here would definitely return!!
It's good hostel with budget price.
Room were clean and desk service was good.
There is a small kitchen with limited sitting place.
If you can you can cook also. Some cooking vassel are there.
Place was fairly clean. There are extra bathrooms with showers in the hallway. They don't charge to store luggage. The small lockers in the front are also free. No elevator. Common area has kitchen and pleanty of chairs. Staff is friendly.
I found it excellent, perfect heating, excellent service and even better prices
Excellent place spacious and clean rooms, nice place and good service in Spanish. The rooms are being remodeled, last year we stayed and it shows the improvement, even almost all the rooms already have a lock with a card, the one that we had was the only one with a traditional key. It is recommended to take the breakfast included, it is very basic buffet style but it is good for what is worth in Paris a breakfast of this type. The only bad thing is the staircase that is narrow and old but in general and in relation quality / price for this area of Paris is a full-fledged 10. It has a metro station around the corner (Joules Joffrin) another about 4 blocks (Marcadet Poissoniers) also taxi stop and a lot of shops, bars and restaurants. It is also right behind the cathedral of Montmartre and the neighborhood of painters (you have to climb stairs to get there). In general: highly recommended, we will return for sure.
Everyone was super friendly and the area was clean. The only problem was there is no elevator so lots of stairs.
great price. clean room, bed n toilette. common area is quite small but ok. pretty design. they have got kitchen as well. got a room with a decent view from the balcony. near couple of nice restaurants and pizzerias. easy to find as well. accessible from 2 different metro stations.
Really comfortable and clean place! The location is wonderful.5 minutis walking form Sacre Coeur. The crew is nice and very helpful. And has a kitchen well equipped y cook!
The establishment is very beautiful comfort as magnificent ...
I didn t have time to eat breakfast, but they refused to refund me. Their dryer was broken, and they wouldn t even refund me EIGHT EUROS for not being able to do laundry. The service was painfully slow despite my obvious agitation AND my telling him (in French and typed) that I was late. No urgency, no empathy. Thanks a lot.
I understand that hostels are designed for the casual young traveler in mind, but this one stood out as a family destination as well. We found it to be a bit rough for a family.
A few nice things...
-Staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially the young man in the evening hours. He understood our family situation and was more than willing to assist anytime we needed anything.
-Historic setting. The building is clearly an old structure, which was nice to see some of the history built into the atmosphere.
-Location. The area is near several uses of transit, but we found ourselves calling an Uber 95% of the time, as that is the most economical for a family of 4 if you're there for a short time. This is not a touristy area, which we liked. Several cafes, bakeries, grocery, and gift shops within a short walk. Try the scone and raspberry jam at the cafe nextdoor...amazing!
-Safety. We felt very safe here. The hotel is next to a school and there are lockers in the lobby for any valuables.
As for a few things we didn't prefer...
-Accommodations. For a family, this wasn't the ideal place. The room was small and the layout wasn't ideal. Once we arrived, we found that the room we chose didn't come with towels, soap, or shampoo. This was disappointing to have to spend EU2.50 per towel...per day.
-Breakfast. Maybe we're used to an American breakfast, but this breakfast had bread...bread...and them some bread. Although tasty, we could have used some fruit, yogurt, or even some milk. $6 for bread per person (children are free) is a little much.
-Location. Although I enjoyed being a bit away from the city, getting there is at least a 15 minute taxi ride. Also, you're next to an elementary school, so it can get VERY noisy first thing in the morning.
-Steps. The circular staircase is nice...until you have 6 bags of luggage. Again, the 20 year old kid would do just fine, but we were happy to be on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator or lift.
I'm sure there are things I missed in this review. We enjoyed our stay, but will choose a hotel next time...for roughly the same amount of money.
