Reluctantly booked on hotwire for cheap(ish) around $90 including taxes but as the title says, the pool is across the street and parking was an additional $18.
They have 2 or 3 buildings and they put us in the grottiest building.
Hotwire deleted my review which said exactly what this says because hotwire are clowns.
Venerable old dowager kept spotlessly clean by a caring staff. The restaurants are stellar. Wish I'd spent more for a room away from the elevator...Hit the Boathouse and your cares will melt away. Salud!
Beautiful hotel, the water is eco friendly reclaimed from the canal though and is yellow.
Great location, lots of nearby walkable restaurants. near the beach with free trolley.
A very pleasant classic oldy mouldy hotel indeed on the water and Las Olas Boulevard where you have close access to everything going on in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Beautiful inside decor and bar with outside tables for meals where you can watch the world go by.
I've been staying here (6 times a year for over 4 years) and I've never had a problem. Location is perfect and the rooms are clean and overall, above average.
AWFUL THE ROOM SMELLS MOLDY, BEDS ARE EXTREAMLY UNCOMFORTABLE YOU'LL FEEL THE SPRINGS THE MOMENT YOU LAY ON IT, TINY TINEY ELEVATORS WOST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing hotel. Staff was very friendly when we arrived. Room was a good size and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again!
Horrible Hotel smells very bad ....older hotel and it smells like it ...Good location but that's it ..staff is good but the hotel is not
First, the good:
Overall nice, clean rooms with a mini fridge and coffeemaker included.
Great location - the hotel is on Las Olas, a street full of restaurants and shops that you can walk.
Courteous, helpful staff.
The bad:
WiFi service is very slow and spotty. The staff was extremely helpful and removed a charge from my bill for "high speed" WiFi when it turned out it wasn't usable on multiple devices, but this is an area where the hotel is lagging behind its competition.
The parking is quite expensive. You can either valet for 27/day pre-tip or pay about 40/day for public parking.
Note: we did stay in the older wing of the building, so WiFi wight be better in newer units.
Overall, we had a good experience, but the WiFi issue needs to be addressed.
Building smells awful. Fridge didn't work in my room. Ice machines didn't work either. They were under construction so alot of noise going on throughout the day. Very hostile staff at front desk.
This was an awesome location and hotel. Great rooms and views. The staff made my husbands birthday memorable and brought up strawberries I had delivered to the room. Everything was perfect. Loved the bed, bathroom was huge and breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious. We will definitely be back again!!! Thank you Riverside!!
Cosy and convenient, in the middle of down town , on las olas
The Riverside Hotel is my favorite hotel in Fort Lauderdale. My room overlooked the intracoastal and it was such a beautiful sight especially with the full moon out. We had dinner at Indigo where the service and the food was AMAZING !!!
Tons of shopping close by and numerous restaurants on Las Olas. Will most certainly return when I come back to Fort Lauderdale.
Truly enjoying my stay here in Fort Lauderdale at the Riverside Hotel
Service was good and the room was nice, bed very comfy
Great location. Has the standard services you'd expect from a hotel (valet parking, attached restaurants, room service) but they fall down on the details. Two different stays, one of the elevators was broken.
Stayed here for wedding party. Excellent hotel for our entire party. Staff was great. Great stay!
Good food and excellent service. The staff was extremely nice and professional
There is always trash left in my waste bin from the previous guest, however the rest of the room is always very clean. Bartender downstairs in the restaurant is professional and talented. Great location!
I had a professional meeting/reception at this hotel in one of the ball rooms. Facilities were very nice, staff professional and attentive, catered food was good for the context but not spectacular.
Quite possibly the worst hotel bed I ve ever slept in. Can t speak from personal experience but I would assume the firmness of this bed is equivalent to a prison cot. It feels like laying on a slab of wood.
I m all for a firmer bed but I ve never felt one that is this firm. It s like laying on a doctors examination table with the white paper they put down.
Personally couldn t sleep for more than an hour a night but gave it two stars for those who may be in to the firmest bed they ve ever slept in.
Also, the lack of stars comes from the moldy, run down hallways which do not help for the plank you will sleep on.
Went to signature event with the Jewish Federation. The staff were very friendly.
Lobby will put you right in the mood for Christmas. Cute bar near the patio too!
Staff very friendly and the location very convenient.
Great hotel i enjoyed my stay . Staff was awesome i will visit soon again
Nice hotel. Stayed in the older section but didn't get the service we are accustomed to. A bite disappointing.
Room: 4*
Bathroom: 3*
Service: 4*
Location 5*
Bar: 3*, too expensive
Would I visit again: maybe
I realize we paid a hefty overnight charge due to the hotels location, but we have paid much less for larger and better rooms.
Charming and good hotel in the best location. Have stayed here three times and it is always nice. Extremely affordable accommodation, if you can afford to live some distance from the beach. The hotel itself has a nice pool area, which makes up for this.
Great for those who do not have a car as very many restaurant options are within close walking distance. Recommended!
Everything needed to be dust off in the room. It looks haven't been wiped for one month, even coffee maker. Wifi service was poor and the fridge didn't make cold!!!
I booked a corner room in the Executive Tower and it was amazing (it's worth every penny to upgrade to this room because of the view). From one corner of the balcony, you can see the city with a view of airplanes leaving the runway (no noise can be heard) and the other corner is a view of the New River in which you can see very large (and expensive, lol) boats navigating their way through. The views were spectacular.
The hotel is located on Las Olas Boulevard, which is a very trendy social area that includes eateries, bars, and boutique-style shops. There is also a Cheesecake Factory about 500 feet from the front of the hotel.
Every staff member that I had any interaction with treated me like royalty.
The hotel was extremely clean, decorated and furnished beautifully. The bed linens were luxurious and the mattress was very comfortable. The towels were also nice. The provided shampoo and conditioner made my hair feel like silk!
I was slightly disappointed with two things, their decision to close the pool for the and some other hotel amenities because of a predicted storm, and their unadvertised (unless I didn't see it) self-parking fee.
I'm a native Floridian and I know these storms can be unpredictable but when the storm fizzled out and didn't produce any dangerous winds or rain, I wish they would have opened the pool.
The self-parking fee is $27 per day and we had two cars so it was a little expensive and unexpected fee for us.
Even with the two disappointments, I still rate this stay as a 5.
Beautiful hotel! We stayed in a queen room in the towers, and found it to very nice and spacious. We did not feel crammed in at all. All of the rooms have been renovated. We loved the garden patio downstairs, great place to get some coffee or wine and sit out with a good book! Loved the onsite restaurants too, we found the happy hours and breakfasts to be very affordable.
We stayed during covid, and felt very safe. Room was very clean, certainly clean enough for this discerning traveler. And last but certainly not least, the staff was great! Everyone we spoke to was very accommodating and friendly. We've already booked a room to hopefully return in a few months, and we look forward to our return.
Expensive with terrible rooms, service, and amenities.
Superior hotel. Rooms fabulous. People great. All you want. And and perfect location.
Great value for the money. Rooms were nice, location is convenient, and meeting areas were very nice.
Great hotel. Beautiful room. Terrence at the front desk was very very nice. Made me feel at home. Gave me a fabulous room. He's great! I will be back!
Great party halls, tasty food, and nice views of the city!
Beautiful hotel!! Staff was beyond helpful!! Make sure you pay for parking or you will get ticketed.
Next to the Tarpon River, about 2 miles from the coast. Close to Miami (about 15-20 minutes). Service was not extraordinary, they were just going through the motions. The bellhops were very kind and thoughtful! Public parking and private parking next door.
Right on River. Pleasant service. Valet parking only. Room with two queen beds. Both beds very comfortable. Room very clean. Secured floors. Need room key to operate elevator. Within walking distance to multiple restaurants. Restaurants in area of eclectic cuisine. Asian, Italian, French, American. A couple of pubs if you prefer.
Staff is very accomendating and friendly. Room was clean and very cool upon arrival. No complaints
A bit pricey for what you get, but the service was friendly and thefood was good.
Beautiful hotel with great service, close proximity to lots of shops and restaurants.
If you are a tourist or a local discovering new things, then consider using this hotel as your base camp for sure. The older side of the hotel is charming with regular rooms that will work if you're on a budget and the balcony suites on the new side are excellent. Get your party on for sure either way, but I recommend the suite if you have friends and want to be your own bartender for starters. Then discover the plethora of restaurants, bars, and shopping, and entertainment right outside the front door. The river walk is out back too. If you like to barhop, eat, and have a good time while on foot this is about as good as a location as you'll find. I would post pictures, but on second thought I better not.
This review is actually for the restaurant inside the hotel. I had breakfast there with my wonderful clients. I ordered the simple eggs and bacon with toast and hashbrowns. I ordered the eggs over easy. The reason for the 5 stars is that everything was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and the service was great. The bacon was crispy, the eggs were perfectly over easy and the hash browns were herbed. If you do a simple like that breakfast right, I have no doubt the rest is on point. The coffee was solid too and my clients were equally happy!
Lovely place in historic downtown. Good restaurants, bars and shopping within easy walking. Views overlooking the canal from the tower but the historic wing has lots of charm.
Deliciously elegant! Location on Las Olas is perfect for leisurely strolling, shopping and dining. And The Riverside offers that old world ambiance that is so missing from "the chains". Welcoming and professional staff adds dynamic energy in this immaculate historic building that has been meticulously updated. Best of old and new. Dinner at Wild Sea was a feast for the eyes and the palate. Will definitely be back!
Attended a wedding here and everything was top notch. From the food to the service everything was 5 stars.
The Riverside hotel is a beautiful placw ro visit. Its a great stop to see a wonderful piece of Florida history. It is located at the heart of Las Olas. There are many restaurant around the area to chose from and it is easily accessible to events un Fort Lauderdale.
If you want the old school Florida vibe and experience you must check out The Riverside Hotel. From the jazz Sunday brunch of the Indigo restaurant to the lounging tropical garden out back it's a place of another time. Charming.
Very nice hotel in a good location and
the staff was very accommodating and helpful
Had a few drinks at the bar. They were well-made and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Great Sunday afternoon.
Staff was very friendly. Quirky layout but it'd an old hotel so it's charming. Located on a walkable, inviting street.
A very nice hotel with history and character. It sits on Las Olas which has a retro stylish feel. The rooms were nice with nothing particularly unique about them. Reminded me of a slightly dated Marriott.
A very nice venue for your organization's event. The food was very good and the event rooms were very comfortable.
Second time here and just like last time it was a comfortable stay, although the hotel can use some TLC but still pretty clean , neat and well maintained. I would definitely come back for the views and vibrant atmosphere.
Old hotel, very dated rooms in desperate need of a remodel. Musky smell in room and hallway. Power outlets in the desk did not work, not many accessible outlets otherwise. Gym is a joke. Did I mention that the place is old? On the positive side, nice location with plenty of restaurants and bars close by.
Its a nice place to relax and hangout. Also there's plenty of art to sightsee if you're tired of being cooped up all day.
We came here for breakfast and ordered the eggs benedict. It was amazing!
Exceptional service!! During these times of uncertainty and pandemic, the importance of customer service takes a whole new meaning. The staff at this property is always helpful, hands on, and willing to go above and beyond to provide whatever information or assistance you may need. Patrick at the front desk seems to be the quintessential Front Desk agent; his willingness to assist should be the standard in Hospitality. Definitely recommend as the location, service and maintenance of the property to make guests feel safe is excellent.
There was a huge issue with bugs in the room. After asking management to help, they said oh they are harmless we will spray your room. We come back into the room after they "sprayed", bugs everywhere. After asking management to make it right, they said "sir, you are in Florida of course there are going to be bugs in your room". I don't know about the rest of you but my job requires traveling, and I've NEVER had this issue. Absolutely horrific experience.
The attached photo is bugs crawling all over our arms.
My gripe is with the air-conditioning system and the lack of outlets in the rooms. Not all rooms have the nightstand radio with all the USB ports. The staff is super friendly though and the rooms are always clean.
We were only there to hangout with guests at the bar downstairs. The hotel looks amazing. It has a 1930's feel, and the staff members are really welcoming.
The rooms are ok. The staff is great. Prices are real good for being downtown ft. Lauderdal. The really great thing about the place is the location right in las olas strip within walking distance of some really good restaurants and cute shops
