Upon arrival, an invoice was presented that was almost 250 more than when booking online, which was also confirmed by telephone by the receptionist. When I mentioned this during check out, I was dismissed that the receptionist in question was not present while they did not know when I called for confirmation. It was resolved rude. Really not a vd Valk solution. Never again !
Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The room (tower suite) was beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant was also excellent.

Sorry but the staff has to work really hard on team building. Complaints are not followed by an excuse or something that looks like it, at most it is indicated whose fault it is. After 12 days, no response has been received to complaints via e-mail either. Bad thing if you ask 175 euros per night and that is also excluding breakfast.

Hotel Van der Valk Exclusive castle Bloemendal, Vaals.
The hotel is within walking distance of the center on a quiet street and surrounded by a beautiful garden with many old trees and there are plenty of free parking spaces available. To go to the reception, one has to climb a landing staircase and for people with walking difficulties there is an underpass with a lift. Our room was on the basement level and had a small terrace with a 2-seater bench. The room was about 30 m2 and the bathroom about 10 m2. In the walk-in there is a combination of furniture with luggage space, coat rack, wardrobe with free safe, built-in fridge and coffee / tea maker. There is also a desk, a sitting area with 2 armchairs and table, 2 Swiss Sense: Box-spring beds and a large-sized flat screen TV. The bathroom has a washbasin with ample storage space, a walk-in shower, bath and the toilet is separate in the walk-in. The lighting is adequate and the free internet reasonably fast.
First about the cons: - the noise insulation could be better, you can clearly hear your neighbors on the upper level. Fortunately, they were relatively quiet. Another cons -- if you want to go to the park nearby you have to walk to the entrance which is on the opposite side, because all other gates are closed. Anyway, I'm still giving it 5 stars because of the pros: - ultimately, this place is perfect to stay when you have a pet, there is enough of room, direct exit to the terrace and the parking, so you can walk your pet without having to go through the corridors, and quick access to the parking. Our room was on the edge of the building, facing to the green area without cars and other noise. I also enjoyed the service and the room equipment. The meals for dinner aren't cheap but delicious! Our stay was absolutely comfortable.
The restaurant and hotel are great, the location is nice as well, it s just unfortunate that in the main restaurant you can very clearly smell some sort of cleaning agent from the kitchen. I ve let the staff know before but it still smells now. I ve let them know again and hopefully it ll be solved now.
Fantastic nice hotel with a great outside area. The rooms are great, very tastefully and the Ambiente suitably furnished. The beds were also comfortable and the whirlpool tub was awesome. The breakfast was convincing, the staff is friendly and enough parking spaces are also available. Definitely one of the best hotels I have slept in and a clear recommendation! :)

Nice, well-kept hotel in a historical ambience with a flair from bygone times. Cozy rooms with plenty of space to relax, the dog is also welcome. Committed nice staff at the reception, also in the wine bar and in the restaurant, the excellent service in the evening in the bar next to the lobby deserves special mention. The hotel management would do well to increase the staff on evenings in the run-up to Christmas with an almost fully booked restaurant, which otherwise would simply not be able to meet the expected high-level service due to understaffing.

Fantastic hotel and an absolute must. It was once a rich boarding school where the mother of J.F. Kennedy has been on. Now a beautiful hotel. The whole layout, the atmosphere and the staff are absolutely top. We had the theme room. This is a suite with a sitting area, bathroom with steam cabin and hot tub. Costs a little more than a regular room. But you get a great room for it.
Had a fantastic night, delicious dinner, perfect breakfast, a nice spacious room with a nice bed. Jermaine and his team did a great job despite the Corona rules !!

Nice castle room, the food is good too. Just a pity about the large spider web along the plinth. From the amount of dust flakes in the web, no vacuum cleaner has been around for a long time. We dare not look under the bed, who knows what lies there.

Very nice hotel with a very very good restaurant. I thought it was a pity that the bath did not work properly and spontaneously turned on a number of times. And at breakfast there was a rotten egg. But because the staff were friendly / helpful, I would still recommend it as something can go wrong every now and then.
Wonderful hotel. If you want to do a day trip to Aachen: the Arriva bus that stops 300 meters from the hotel will take you to the center of Aachen. No parking stress!

Bed was good, room was clean and breakfast well taken care of despite corona. Staff came across as very friendly.
The room did have some moisture problems, window frames and ceiling in the bathroom leaves off and has weather spots. I suspect this is due to the steam cabin in the rooms. Perhaps this can be solved with better ventilation.
It's just a wonderful experience. The rooms are roomy, clean and wonderfully decorated. The color palette is easy on the eye and well chosen. The food is delicious and enough variety. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back... I mean.. try to get me out in the first place ....
The location and the look of the hotel is absolutely amazing. The rooms are fine. Most of the time you have a rainshower and a big bath. Some rooms, apparently the one I stayed in, had quite a few things that weren't right, like the bathroom door couldn't close and if it would be able to close you wouldn't be able to get out, because the doorknob wasn't working from the inside. Also our minicar doubled as a microwave as it wasn't closing correctly and it didn't have any space to lose it's heat. The hotel staff fixed it as fast as they could though, so that's a definite plus. Also, when you sit at the hotel bar and order a more special beer, they mix it up with normal beer! Overall, the hotel is really good but it just has some negative points here and there which you need to look out for.

Room was ok but price quality ratio is very hard to find, 206 for a weekday is really too much of a good thing, floor covering in the room is a large stain carpet, in addition, the toilet paper is equal to sandpaper! Our painter would be jealous of it.
Converted you pay 36 for a very mediocre breakfast!
And 14.50 for a gin and tonic, which you have to pick up yourself, is completely crazy!

Mooi hotel, 1 nacht lekker geslapen. Voor het geld wat we hadden betaald hadden we een iets verzorgdere kamer verwacht. Dit hebben wij bij het uitchecken aangegeven en het vriendelijke personeel heeft dit genoteerd. Het bubbelbad was echter een leuke verrassing!
The rooms are clean and modern but cold. The restaurant did not impress, although the ingredients were excellent.
Very simply decorated rooms, essentials like TV remote missing, breakfast only starts at 7am, way too late for business travelers, not enough staff in restaurant and bar, but existing staff very friendly
