Hotel de Echoput Review

It happened to be here on Sunday afternoon 30 September. The name "De Echoput" is chosen very appropriately; our visit to the terrace echoes after the customer-friendliness and the delicious coffee. The staff, a female person with an Eastern European accent, has made us two seen customers. The lady was attentive, friendly and even brought our dog a bowl of water. This lady does not receive 5 stars from us, but 10 stars.

Had a wonderful stay in the Echoput. Personally, I don't think the hotel is worthy of 5 stars, rather 4. This is mainly due to small things, such as that it is a bit noisy, and a gym that is rather small and messy. Nothing to complain about at the restaurant, super good food and everything fully catered for. I think Michelin star worthy.

We met at a beautiful location, excellent service, good food and good sleep.

Unfortunately my opinion about this hotel restaurant must be excellent but after the last time I have been there it is significantly less if one does nothing then it will drop to a questionable level and that would be a shame

The hotel is horribly overpriced. We stayed here for one night and for the amount paid we would expect much more. The hotels rooms are boring with a simple layout and dark colors (and there is nowhere to hang your towel). The 'Spa' facilities consists of a small pool and a 1m2 sauna. We had a normal summer day and the airco could not keep up, at 23:00 it was very warm in the room while the outside temperature was more comfortable, as a result we did not sleep well as opening the window would result in hearing the noises from the nearby street. The location is nice with direct access to the Veluwe park.

Here one excels in both the kitchen and the care of the rooms. We are so friendly and professionally served and helped in few places. The prices that are opposed to this praise are normal to almost cheap! The 24 hours ago I paid double for the same 3-course menu in Belgium. I am very impressed.

A favorite restaurant of ours. Now had a really fantastic menu. New (old) chef. Promising. Maarten as host is always top. Have a nice night out

We hebben het culinaire arrangement gehad, een vijf gangen diner met overnachting en we hebben genoten.

De kamer is erg groot, de voorzieningen statig en netjes en alles ziet er mooi schoon uit.
Bij binnenkomst in de kamer ook nog een eetbaar presentje wat gemaakt is in de buurt. Leuk extraatje.

Daarna erg lekker gegeten in het restaurant. De bijpassende wijnen zijn heerlijk en de vijf verschillende gangen met de wildsmaken zijn heerlijk.

De volgende ochtend is ook het ontbijt met veel aandacht neergezet. Geen extravagante verrassingen maar mooie eerlijke producten die (volgens ons) bijna allemaal uit de buurt komen.
Dit (her)gebruik van lokale rijkdommen sprong er bij mij uit als een thema en gaf het culinaire deel van ons verblijf daarmee veel meer karakter.

Het personeel is zonder uitzondering heel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam waardoor ze een grote pluim mogen krijgen. Misschien dat niet ieder lid van de bediening even ervaren was maar dat werd meer dan goed gemaakt door de inzet en hoe met ons werd omgegaan.

We zijn daarna de bossen ingegaan richting het noorden om het kroondomein te bekijken. Erg mooie omgeving waar je ook wild kan zien lopen als je geluk hebt.
De receptie heeft meerdere wandelingen liggen die met normale schoenen goed te belopen zijn. Echt een aanrader als je hier verblijft.

Nice hotel and nice people. Eaten in the restaurant in the evening and got food poisoning there. Still reported at reception but no response. Not even after repeatedly emailing. Bad service for that matter.

As a couple we have reserved a Grand Echoput room, upon arrival in the room we experienced that the room smelled like chlorine because of the swimming pool that is located underneath. This implies that the ventilation in the hotel is incorrect. Due to our health we asked for a different room where we were moved to a normal Echoput room but had to pay the same amount. This has been partly compensated by a stocked minibar and a free drink, but I think we should have been able to cancel what was not allowed on the basis of a not equal room. Looking at the waiting time of the service in the restaurant (due to understaffing) they should have canceled us better than it would have been better for both parties.
Switching to a normal echoput room is a disappointment because many conveniences are no longer available: much less space, no coffee in the room, no separate seating area, TV did not work, the temperature of the room was also very warm and could not be cooled we were forced to open the sliding door to the balcony which caused a lot of noise from the passing traffic.
Also striking was the poor quality of the wifi and that there is only 1G at this location.
The long wait at dinner was somewhat offset by the sommelier trying to make the most of it. What we often notice about restaurants with a Michelin star is that they go overboard and that there is little atmosphere and ambience left. We do not find the arrangement in the restaurant intimate and awkward.
The breakfast was poorly supplemented due to understaffing and the waiting time was also extended as a result. The final breakfast was decent, little variety in bread and the quality of the coffee was mediocre.
The impression we ultimately have is that the customer focus of the Echoput has deteriorated sharply and that the importance of the Echoput itself is too much of a priority. As a customer we expect much more service from a 5 star hotel and this 2nd visit is definitely the last visit.

Unique and in a nice location,the staffs are 100% reliable

and terrific wine list. Tucked away on the Veluwe in the forest it out of your way but so very worth the trip. Stay overnight in the hotel to fully enjoy the excellent meals. Known for its deer, rabbit and goose dishes!

Very nice hotel. Everything is modern designed and furnished, great room with balcony. Very comfortable bed. The pool is small, but nice. Breakfast, bar and restaurant are fantastic. We had a good time and felt really comfortable.

Restaurant: flavors on par, plating done nicely but the wait between courses, even after complaints, was unacceptable.

I found the price for one cup of coffee and one tea very high (almost 9 euros)! Ordered two more apple pie after a walk; although we were the only ones in the restaurant, we only got it after more than twenty minutes, and the cake had just thawed (actually too cold). Operation neat and friendly.

Nice hotel in a nice place near the Kroondomeinen where you can walk. Breakfast was well cared for but service was messy. Nobody was clearly in charge so you sometimes had to wait a long time for your breakfast. Which, by the way, is very nice in a basket on the table.

I called to make a reservation for a 4 day stay. It took a long time for the phone to be answered. Eventually I got on the phone with someone from the restaurant, who answered because it was starting to take a long time. I explained that I wanted to make a hotel reservation. The man told me that reservations are made by the front desk people. He asked for my name and phone number and said I would be called back. No problem so far. However, I was not called back and that is sloppy.

I come here for the Academy of Gastronomy, a great educational institute. Skilled teachers.

We had booked a table for 8 people. The arrival was messy. Sitting in the bar there was no sherry, no nuts and after a lot of effort we got a shabby collection of nuts and olives. At the start of the dinner it turned out that a large part of the restaurant was rented by a rotary, with the result that the first two courses took three hours. The four-course dinner lasted until a quarter past eleven. We are still waiting for the apologies. Conclusion very unsatisfied.

Room not cleared on arrival. And at breakfast it was looked at all the time and I was asked myself, are you completely hidden here when I sat down somewhere in the corner. I really thought of you having placed chairs here that is not so crazy. And when I grabbed food there was an excessive cough all the time by the staff I never go here for that price and so bad atmosphere and staff pool is super small sauna pass you on your own in fitness consists of 2 bicycles really no 5 worth the stars

Nice room with beautiful bathroom, also a balcony. Fine, large double bed. Nice for two.

Eaten Christmas Day at the echoput and were very disappointed and angry our Christmas Eve was not as we had suggested!

Upon arrival no one was present to welcome the guests.
Have sought the ministry ourselves because we wanted something to drink, which we received after about 25 minutes.

For Christmas dinner, we had to report to the reception desk for about 15 minutes before we were brought to the table.

The table that was assigned was in a remote corner, separated by a wall from the restaurant.
One of the seats was so filthy and the rest of the seats looked very old and worn out.

The food we were served was particularly bad, all dishes were dry, limp and without taste.

The dessert was so bad that I immediately took it out of my mouth!

We have mated at the Christmas dinner wine, the chosen wines are not always chosen correctly and were not at the right temperature.

The owners were not present which surprised me.

I was promised that telephone contact would be sought, but until now I did not receive any messages.

Stayed perfectly super nice everywhere this is master class

This rating is for the restaurant. Does Michelin mean extra slow nowadays? I waited an hour and a half to get to the starter and the restaurant was not even full. Food was delicious but pacing was horrendous

Yes, it makes you very happy to have lunch there. Amazing and over delicious. You get all the time to enjoy it.

Leuk hotel, goede service. Goed en uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. De kamer is riant. Mooi terras in te lunchen of te dineren.

How is swimming at hotel Echoput (Apeldoorn)? Is that child friendly?

Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Nice luxury hotel room. Very tasty breakfast. Delicious get away from it all together.

Delicious eaten, surprising dishes of top quality. The weather was great so we spent the whole evening on the beautiful terrace. The service knows everything and is very friendly. Leon especially impressed us. All in all definitely recommended.

Super nice, spacious room with balcony. Room service excellent and nice swimming and still in the sauna. Relax.

Great. Wonderful hidden location, gorgeous exterior and interior, room and facilities were phenomenal.
Breakfast was a delight and there are Tesla charging stations available (the reason we picked the hotel from the map).
I would be delighted to stay here again if we're ever in the area again.

Room had not been cleaned when I entered. Special .... half hour wait because there was no other room.
Dinner was fine. Staff very helpful. Wait a long time at the entrance for breakfast. Expected more from the echo well. It must have been too busy.

Wij hadden geboekt een overnachting in een grand Echoput kamer gelegen aan de tuin met een gastronomisch zesgangen diner, een bijpassend wijnarangement en een uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet.
Aankomst zaterdag 03 september vertrek zondag 4 september 2016.
Parkeren kon naast het hotel.
Vriendelijk personeel bij de receptie.
Kamer 003
Grote ruime kamer met ruim bad en douche met twee douchekoppen. Mooi uitzicht op dichtgegroeide vijver.
De kamer was slecht schoongemaakt, vuile douche onderdelen, spinnenwebben in de hoeken, vuile ramen (vogelpoep), rotte appel op tafel met gebruikt schilmesje waar ook een lange haar op te zien was.
Vlekken op spiegel in kast, vieze toilet borstel, een een prullenbak te weinig in de kamer zelf (wel een op toilet en een in de badkamer)

Het restaurant is gesloten voor de lunch, echter je kunt wel reserveren voor een kleine lunch in een apart restaurant van de Echoput.

Wat drinken op het terras: vriendelijke jonge ober die het zichtbaar warm had. Hij veegde daarom ook regelmatig zijn bezwete voorhoofd af met zijn hand. Waarna die de glazen uitserveerde, helaas een bierglas met een barst en een met een pluisje van een of andere doek in het bier. Ook de bodem van het glaasje met prikkers was vervuild met iets. Een van de stoelen was kapot wat het zitcomfort niet ten goede kwam, vlak voor het afrekenen kregen we van de ober twee kussentjes voor op deze stoelen, was hij vergeten. Vanwege het willen doen van een tweede bestelling probeerde we al zwaaiend de ober zijn aandacht te trekken. Helaas lukte dit niet, er zaten ook wel erg weinig mensen op het terras dus misschien was die daarom niet zo scherp. Uiteindelijk de bediening binnen maar aangesproken van onze wens om een tweede bestelling te willen doen. Het terras was niet echt goed onderhouden, her en der kapotte en verdwaalde stoelen. Het afgevallen groen op de tafels was niet zo erg maar effe een vegertje er over en ze zijn weer schoon.
Het incident met de appel en het vuile mes inmiddels doorgegeven aan de receptie, die waren geschokt en vroegen naar ons kamer nummer. Bij terugkomst in de kamer was de rotte appel verwijderd en lagen er drie in plaats van twee appels. Het mes was, schoon geveegd, maar nog steeds niet brand schoon. maar goed, die haar was in ieder geval weg.

Het diner maakte alles goed, het zes gangen diner was van ongekende kwaliteit, nog nooit zo lekker en gevarieerd gegeten. De bediening was inmiddels aangevuld met twee heren en een dame die echt wel wisten hoe het moest. Helaas liep onze onervaren ober van de middag er ook rond die bij het serveren van enkele van onze gangen duidelijk naar zweet stonk. Hij deed zijn best maar was duidelijk niet zo ervaren als de andere obers. We hebben echt genoten van het eten en de bijpassende wijnen, die waren heerlijk. Het restaurant krijgt van ons dan ook echt een tien plus.

Het ontbijt, er was geen schone tafel vrij, we gaan een tafel voor u opdekken zei de bediening. Er kwam echter niemand om de tafel op te dekken. Een grotere groep had inmiddels de aandacht van de bediening gekregen. Toen zelf maar iemand aangesproken waarna we bestek kregen op een vuile tafel. Daarom zelf maar eerst het tafel laken schoongeveegd want er waren ook geen schone tafellakens aanwezig. Het meisje zei ja het is ook zo druk s'morgens maar wel gezellig toch?
De keuze bij het ontbijt was ruim voldoende en van een uitstekende kwaliteit. Ook de keuze in koffie en vruchtensappen was ruim voldoende en van een zeer goede smaak.

Kort samengevat krijgt de schoonmaak een dikke onvoldoende, de bediening in de middag een mager zesje en het diner een dikke tien. Het ontbijt is ruim voldoende maar de bediening kan beter.
Het hotel is echt niet vijf sterren waardig , een sauna die ze beter niet kunnen vermelden en de fitness ruimte is een lachertje. Het zwembad is klein en rommelig. Maar nogmaals de keuken perfect. Dus voor het eten zien ze ons zeker nog eens terug.

Neat reception, room was fine. As a surprise my husband had ordered rose petals in the room, but unfortunately they were not on arrival. Were laid down when we were already there and also charged while the surprise effect was complete.
The 2nd day we returned to the room after a day out and the room was not cleaned. You never expect that at a hotel but certainly not here.
We had a culinary weekend. The food consists of many mousses, you have to love that. We can add more bite from us. When paying the wine with the food came the 3rd setback. We deliberately did not opt for the wine package, but ordered a single glass of wine. These were found to cost 15.90 euros each. We would have liked it if we could have opted for a glass of wine based on a wine list with prices per glass. You still feel cheated this way.

Nice hotel a few minutes away from Apeldoorn. Nice facilities such as a swimming pool with (small) sauna and gym. Enough parking places including a number of charging points for electric cars (2x tesla, 1x type 2 charger). You can also rent bicycles there because you can cycle nicely in the neighborhood. Hotel rooms are spacious and well equipped with everything you can expect. Breakfast buffet is very extensive with something for everyone.

Dit hotel ligt prachtig. Er is een zeer ruime gratis parkeerplaats. Voor de bolide wel te verstaan. Heb je ook dure fietsen meegenomen, dan is er wel plek deze droog te stallen, maar hier is zeer op bezuinigd. Een hotel als dit eigenlijk onwaardig. Dat is een aandachtspunt voor 2020.
De kamer die wij hadden, was ruim. Heel prettig is een apart toilet. De badkamer is ruim met twee inloopdouches naast elkaar en ook de luxe van een groot bad. Uitstekend dus. Jammer dat de badkamer geen echte deur heeft, maar een constructie waar je doorheen kijkt. Dat heeft iets voyeuristisch.
Het zeer ruime bed is uitstekend. De kamer is schoon en de badkamer was dat ook. Van de kleurcombinatie: rood met zwart moet je houden. Wij beiden vonden het onprettig. Dat vonden wij vooral in het aparte toilet dat zwarte muren en een zwarte vloer heeft. Wat de interieurverzorger heeft bezield, ontging ons volkomen. Ons maakte het wat depressief.
Het uitzicht naar buiten is schitterend: door de grote ramen kijk je op de groene bomen en ook kun je je 93-t nog in de gaten houden. Wel vonden wij het erg warm en droog op de kamer. Gelukkig kon de schuifdeur flink open en doordat het buiten fris was, kwam de frisse lucht ook snel naar binnen.
Over het personeel niets dan lof: heel aardige medewerkers die ook letterlijk een stapje extra deden. Een van de meisjes liep met ons mee om de fietsenstalling te tonen.
Het ontbijt was goed: er was ruim voldoende en de kwaliteit was goed.

Een prima hotel, dat inderdaad iets duurder is, maar zeker 4* waard is. De vijfde ster laat ik weg. Waarom? Wij moesten even wachten voor wij de kamer in konden. Geen probleem natuurlijk en wij gingen een kopje koffie drinken in de desbetreffende ruimte daarvoor. Bij het uitchecken zag ik echter daarvoor de rekening. Jammer!

.. a wonderful weekend away, from the Randstad to the vast wooded area with a beautiful luxury design hotel. Immediately upon arrival very friendly reception, which is striking since this unfortunately does not happen often anymore at the hotel. Our room was not yet ready, so had a drink in the nice front bar / lunch area of the hotel. We wanted to eat dinner outside the hotel, since my wife does not like game. Maarten, a very friendly and also highly skilled skilled sommelier / manager who told us enthusiastically about the hotel, food and history (including the owner who is called the "taste professor" (**)) of the hotel. He went out of his way to put together a nice 5-course dinner for my wife in consultation with the kitchen. We can only say that this is more than successful. We enjoyed the explanation of each dish / and the wines. The atmosphere is intimate, casual but at a high level culinary enjoyment (The 1st Michelin star was earned in 1967). We visit a lot of hotels and restaurants, but the Echoput has stolen our hearts on several fronts. We will certainly come back more often to relax, enjoy the hotel, food ambiance and certainly the environment.

"Taste professor" Peter Klosse has been the owner of Hotel de Echoput since 1986. In 1991 he founded the Academy of Gastronomy and in 2004 Klosse obtained his PhD at the University of Maastricht with his dissertation on taste and taste classification. In the meantime, Peter Klosse has further explored the scientific side of taste and taste. He writes more than 10 books, develops a groundbreaking new Taste Theory, for which he will be awarded a PhD in 2004 at the University of Maastricht. Doctor Klosse now holds two professorships in Gastronomy, first at Stenden University in Leeuwarden and now at Hogeschool Zuyd in Maastricht. Klosse is a popular speaker and his talks are fascinating and impressive for a wide audience

Hotel super nice, we had higher expectations of the food.

Nice hotel in very beautiful wooded area.

Few points of improvement, however:
- room was very warm and could not cool it as there were no air conditioning or fly screen present.
- there was also no loose sheet, so we had to stay under warm down in the heat

I'm staying in this hotel now for 2 months and so I'd like to let you all know my experience here. This is a very elegant hotel, situated in the beautiful green of the forest so if it is relax that you're looking for this is the place for you. Wake up in the morning with the birds singing, take a walk or run in the forest after work (or before work), or relax in the swimming pool or sauna, all the facilities are available without extra cost. The restaurant is properly good, and the wines are excellent.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, bath tub and shower for 2 people with king sized comfortable beds.
One last word for the staff. For every request they'll really do their best in order to make their guests happy. In 2 months every single thing went perfect in here since day 1. I absolutely recommend it.

After almost 1 year in here I'd like to confirm all that I said before. Absolutelly reccomended.

Atmospheric, excellent cuisine and smooth service. Definitely recommended!

Pretentious restaurant. Game menu 5 courses with wild boar and deer. Quasi nouvelle quisine. Small snacks. Some fairly tasteless. Pulled pork type pork meat around 50 grams and deer around 100 grams. Price quality m.i. moderate, partly due to high price

Great hotel and restaurant !! And they have the tastiest croquettes and croquettes ... the Royal goose ball and croquet !!!

Service was very slow and coffee with cake is also very expensive.

Food fine only a very long wait for dishes. And the operation certainly leaves something to be desired.
