Hotel Capitàn Suizo Review

Fantastic location, facility and staff. The food, beach, rooms and staff were all first rate. If you miss staying here when in Tamirindo, you reill really missel out.

Great service, food, and beach. Laid back. You can walk about a mile on the beach to get to Tamarindo restaurants, groceries, and souvenir shops. Good location for excursions in northwest Costa Rica. This hotel is more about a Costa Rican experience than generic North American hotels like the Westin, W, or Riu. Real people work here. Capitan Suizo is clean comfortable, and luxurious. I will be back.

The Capitan Suizo is truly unique in this area. We were greeted by a very friendly and attentive staff. Exciting are all the animals here in the hotel. The location away from the commercial center brings peace to the beach and in the area.
There are one or the other, which could be improved. But maybe that's exactly what makes this charm. Pura vida!

Excellent service from all staff members, great location slightly outside of town. About a 10 minute walk along the beach to the 'tourist' area. Hotel is steps away from the beach. Onsite, they have kayak and boogie board rentals. Take a self-guided kayak tour to Isla Capitan.

My new husband and I ended our honeymoon here. We booked our honeymoon and reservation through AAA travel agent. The main bartender and server we dealt with were spectacular. The food and drinks were pretty delicious. There are amenities available for outdoor activities. Some things that are listed in the binder in the rooms for what is available, aren't. Both of us are outdoorsy people and love nature, and we were not disappointed with the views and location. HOWEVER, the rooms are in need of a serious update. If I wanted to sleep with nature, I would have gone camping. I am writing this as I am wide awake on our last night- due to some sort of animal in the room that keeps chirping. We are very diligent to close windows and doors, but noticed the cleaning crew leaves them open when they clean. I'm assuming this is how the animal got in. We found pieces of animal feces in the bathroom on multiple occasions. When we called the reception, someone came with a broom, swept the bathroom, then left. This experience tonight was enough to damper the entire stay, in my opinion.

The best caipirinhas in Costa Rica. Hands down. The huts are private but be prepared for some bugs. You can hear monkeys swing through at night. Steps from an incredibly beautiful beach.

The restaurant offer a real customer service! The cream brulee was really awesome!

Amazing hotel. Beautiful and environmentaly sound down to the last detail. Right on the beach at the southern end if tamarindo, away from the crowds. The hotel is home to a colony of howler monkeys who we saw every day. Great vegan options at the restaurant. Fast internet. Stayed in a bungalow the first night and then in a superior room later on. 4 nights total. Really a great experience all around .

Older place, clean but if you want an ocean view this is not the place, it's right on the ocean but they like the tropical plants more than the view..There are moneys and iguanas on the property, awesome staff.....

Just beautiful! Rooms are decorated with a lot of love and the garden with the animals is charming. A paradise to relax and enjoy the holidays.

I have stayed at this hotel 2 times and could do so many more times! The first time it was a romantic trip, now it was a trip with my son and it was just as perfect as the first time. This is a small, intimate hotel, with dreamy gardens, wonderful food, just steps from the sea but what makes it so special is its staff. Friendly and professional make you feel at home.

The swimming pool is the jewel of the hotel, surrounded by trees and a perfectly manicured garden attracts howler monkeys and iguanas.

Stopped by for lunch. Exceptional staff and service. Food was good. We had mahi mahi tacos, ceviche and a few cocktails. Great setting poolside and just steps from the sandy beach with a little break for surfing. Loved the location! We even saw some howler monkeys on the grounds. We'll definitely go back and make a full day of it.

My husband and I stayed here during the second half of our honeymoon and loved everything about it! The staff is wonderful with incredible hospitality, welcoming arms, and superb service! The grounds are absolutely beautiful on a stunning beach within walking distance to the local town. The food and bar service was beyond our expectations and our entire stay was relaxing and peaceful! The only downfall was the internet service. There are multiple wifi connections throughout the hotel which constantly change and never have a steady connection. Also, we were on the first floor we did have quite a few insects and bugs in our room, which I guess is expected considering the area, but could have been prevented by being sprayed daily. None the less, we would definitely stay here again!

Can't say enough positive about the service and hospitality, this place is A++, I've stayed there 3 times for a total of 30 days, have already made my reservation for next year.

This hotel is beautiful. The eco concept makes this a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. You can expect to see monkeys, birds, and iguanas daily. The gardens are immaculate. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, though it can be a little pricey for the portion sizes of some meals. It is just far enough away from the public beach to feel private but close enough that everything is accessible by a very short walk.

The beach is quiet. Perfect for those who want to learn to surf.

We will definitely be back! Such a quaint little hotel in Taramindo. Must be an animal lover! Animals galore! Raccoons, cats, iguanas, monkeys... we had an amazing time! My son loved it! The food is incredible. Anything you order off the menu, you will love! We shopped in the gift shop which smells delicious! Very relaxing place... beautiful pool... no TVs in the rooms :)

What a fun beach for walking, swimming and people watching. Surf boards, boogie boards or just walking in the surf Tamarindo beach beach is a great place to hang out. The town is only a block away from anywhere along the beach so access to either is easy. It's your choice to find something fun to do, or do nothing at all. Enjoy!

Nice hotel with beautiful, comfortable rooms. Has a boutique feel, most rooms facing the water. Great service. Nice breakfast buffet, though could use more options. Very clean. Right on the beach. Pool is just so-so. Some free body boards to rent, and $10 USD/hr surf boards.

We went to the restaurant only. Great romantic dinner and the food was excellent. Big portion. If we had know, we would have only take appetizer and dessert! But everything was really good. Un bon chef!

Hotel Capitan Suizo was awesome! Our room was beautiful and very clean . The hotel grounds were kept emasculate. The pool was cleaned daily. All of the employees went out of there way to make us happy. The beach access was great. It was the best vacation stay ever. The restaurant food was delicious. The wild life is abundant. One morning when eating breakfast a monkey dropped down out of the trees and helped himself to the guest sitting in front of us fruit bowl. Amazing!!!!!

Integrated in the nature near the beach, this hotel is very welcoming. Beautiful, well-equipped rooms, a smiling and caring staff, delicious food. No false notes. You can see monkeys, iguanas, squirrels, coatis and various birds in the trees of the establishment. I LOVE

Beautiful. A walk away from the heart of Tamarindo and just far enough to be a quiet sanctuary. Monkeys in the trees on their beautiful grounds makes you feel in Costa Rica not like a larger resort can. Beautiful pool, great beach for surfing. Best sunsets I have seen. Great little spa, wonderful staff and service. Can't wait to go again.

Fantastic staff and service and a beautiful pool right on the quiet end of Tamarindo beach. Spent a lot of time in the pool observing the monkeys and iguana foraging in the trees above.

We just returned from a two week vacation, Tamarindo, La Fortuna, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio.
This was by far our favorite of all our accommodations. The bungalow was perfect, nicely decorated, cozy and clean. In addition, close to the restaurant, pool and beach. The landscape is beautiful and the hotel opens to a picture perfect view of the ocean & beach. Chairs are provided for guest for a relaxing day on the beach. The staff was helpful, friendly and sincere in ensuring our stay was comfortable. The breakfast provided a vast choice of nutritional food, delicious fresh fruit and the best orange juice. We had lunch at the restaurant several times and everything we ordered was delicious. Our stay exceeded our expectations. We continue to talk about our stay here. I highly recommend this hotel. A 5 star stay for us.
