Policy has been migrated from Anchor insurance to Homeowners Choice. HCPCI

My policy transfer states a NO renew with Homeowners choice HCPCI.

The claim coverage status deadline is the week of July, 21st 2020 per claim examiner. The cancellation date of my policy is the 28th of July, 2020

I cannot open a new policy with a open claim or my home in a state of Loss. I ll be forced to open a risk policy.

If my legitimate and justified claim is denied or underpaid this will be the first step of many to seek reimbursement and reconciliation.

BBB, Fl office of insurance regulation, social media, a full release of all documentation, legal team services, Fl commission of Ethics. Release of Names of all contacts titles and addresses, a drove of reviews, cross platform reviews, shareable links to all data including all engineering, and professional investigation reports. All reports from HCPCI will be made as discoveries.

If Homeowners Choice restores my insured investment whole on this claim I will promote this company s coverage indemnity and products finally deleting this review.
This review will be changed to 5 stars with a stellar recommendation and we never will need to do business again since there is a no renew clause already.

Hurricane Sally ripped my shingles off my roof, causing major leaks in my living room. The guy that came out from HOI to take a look at the damage was professional and nice. He told me he would get me a new roof in no time. WHAT A LIE. 3+ months later, I'm still waiting on a check big enough to cover what my roofer estimated - $15k. HOI gave me $6.6k to fix an entire section of my roof. That's ridiculous. Not only that, but they've not replied to ANY emails or calls concerning this issue for the past month and a half. They've left me with this issue to fend for myself essentially.
IF YOU CAN CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY, DO SO! I didn't have a choice after they took over from my last insurance company.

Worst insurance company you can encounter. They have a method of making you give up on your claim: when you call their main number, they tell you who is handling the claim, then when you try to contact that person, there is NEVER an answer, so you leave a message/s. These NEVER get answered. When you call the main number again, they claim that a different person is handling the claim now, and when you try to call- never an answer and never a call back. In my opinion, they have to be investigated by the State Insurance Commissioner. They might be running a complete fraudulent operation. If you value your money - Stay Away from this company.

I paid off my mortgage and I have been trying to cancel a windstorm policy with HomeOwners Choice since December 30, 2020. Today is January 31, 2021. I have been rebuffed at every turn, "No, you have to file a cancellation request", No, you have to provide a Satisfaction of mortgage", No, we can't accept a digital signature on the cancellation form". I think Homeowners has forgotten who the customer is. I am not the product, I am the customer. No I have to resubmit the cancellation form again". We've had good luck with this insurance company considering their rates and claims experience. I see some others gave them a low rating, but being from that industry I know sometimes they either have a bad agent who didn't explain coverages, or they just wanted the lowest possible price and got that by removing coverage they should have had. We had a simple claim with Homeowner's Choice they paid quickly and professionally. We will certainly continue to use them to insure our home while their rates remain competitive.

I would give my experience with Homeowners Choice extremely high marks. I was prepared for the "typical" experience of delays, no responses and slow payments but has happily wrong. Lidia, our contact, answered phone calls and e-mails promptly, told us what to expect, followed up on items that we had questions about and generally was there for us. My one suggestion to anyone that has to repair home damage is to hire a contractor that has done insurance work in the past and particularly utilizes the same software that the adjusters use. This made our efforts easier when we submitted the claim paperwork and the supplements. Since we were all working on the same data the approvals were done quickly.

Our agency has worked with Homeowners Choice for many years. They have been a pleasure to work with. Recently they have added a new carrier, TypTap, that has been a very good option for our clients in what is one of the hardest markets for homeowners coverage. Their customer service and underwriting department is very responsive. Marketing reps are very attentive to our agency needs and are willing to assist us at all times. I do recommend this company to many of my clients.

Went thru a bad rain and wind storm on 6/7/15 and had damage to my screen porch and the facia of my house. I got my estimates in to the company in 7-10 days. At that point I didn't hear anything until they sent an engineering company on 6-27 . to make a report . The insurance company then claimed they didn't get the report til 7/7/15 and stated that they wouldneed 10 days for the review process. I then called on7/23, 7/28, and 8/10 and received the run-around each time. Finally on 8/19 I called again to hear my claim was denied for engineering reasons. I still haven't received the official paperwork so that I can start myl objection process. It seems to me that by paying my premiums and never having been told that my porch wouldn't be covered the company would have an obligation to pay my claim. Can they, after a hurricane say "Oh sorry' your house wasn't built properly we can't pay for your damage."? I wonder if anyone knows if this bad company just denies all claims? I would be happy to hear any other feedback.

As a victim of Hurricane Irma, I suffered damage to my home. I was patient to work with HCPCI. Finally an adjuster met with use, and some time later I received checks. However, when bringing in roofers to do the work, the amount paid by HCPCI was substantially less than required to do the work. I have submitted new paperwork and find it impossible to get any answers. Consistent e-mails with the supporting documentation and constant phone calls to the so called "claims adjuster", go entirely unanswered. Phone calls to the main office are answered. They ask me questions, then say the will transfer me to claims. Then claims asks the same questions, then says they will transfer me to a supervisor. Of course, the supervisor does not answer, and I go to voice mail. The voice mail promises a call back, which never happens. It seems like a policy to wear out the clients and not have to respond or pay the necessary amounts.
What do I do next...Hire a Public Adjuster.? Lawyer? File a grievance with some higher power Insurance Board?

I had 3 different plumbing companies to check on a leak in my home this month. We all can hear the leak which they all identify it is under the floor in the dinner room. Homeowners Choice sent out their own people to check on the leak and confirmed what the other plumbers stated. They also agreed with the other plumbers that they need to go through the floor to fix the leak. Now after waiting on them for three days they finally came back and said they will not fix it since they cannot see the leak and they do not see any damage even thou they know it is a leak because
they can hear it and they know my water bill is so high now. They even predicted that my water bill will be even higher. Now they want us to come up with thousands of dollars to get this repair which we do not have. We cannot use our water and we have to go cave man style to wash and flush the toilet. I have been with this insurance company for almost 20 years and now I need their help and I cannot get it. I am not sure if it is because we are elderly and retired couple that they think we do not know anything but this company deserve a negative rating.

HOMEOWNERS BEWARE! I got them by default in lieu of the bankrupt homeowners insurance I had. They not only have distributed a check far below market value but then SAW AND REC D additional pics on property damage and never responded. The check is so low that US Bank is reviewing it.. the bank who s name is also on the check. I can hardly get material at wholesale cost for what they sent. Idk how to put in flooring but I guess I ll learn!!! Absolutely horrific at communication and then gets mad and defensive to you if you ask for a WEEKLY update, I enjoyed being transferred to random numbers that didn t pick up and leave voicemails that never became returned calls.

I have been calling and leaving voicemails with this company for almost a month now after filing a claim for water damage in my home and have not received a single call back. Had received a partial check for the roof and had to cover the remaining just so we could stop water leaking into home . Now saying they aren't giving us 2nd check to cover rest of roof. Tarp was flopping around and sand bags falling off home but said they won't cover for it to be re-installed. If you are shopping for home insurence . I would not use these frauds.

How come there are no negative stars? The Worst Company Ever!! I was forced to take them when citizens dropped me. February 16 2016 a tornado landed in my yard. Massive damage. Still fighting to get it paid. They offered me half. I need a new roof - some windows, shutters, etc - not to mention what they say they "don't cover" Been making things up so we filed suit. Just another delay tactic for them - supposed to come to a resolution - find out they sent someone who could not make a decision and didn't know anything about the suit. I've had a severly damaged roof for over 8 months. By the time they sent half - it was storm season and roofers couldn't do it. Then Mattthew hit. They had the nerve to tell me construction should have been started. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS> They deny, deny, deny, stall, then offer you half hoping you'll give up.

The customer service reps are condescending and rude and in no way should be speaking to their clients the way they do. I m stuck with them until the fall and have already told my agent I do not want to renew my policy with them. I can t even imagine if I had to put in claim with them, what a nightmare it would be! I thought an Insurance company is supposed to help if there is damage done to a home caused by mother nature. I litterly made over 50 phone calls to this company. I had 60K damage done to my home from hurricane Erma. The first gave me a settlement chek of 9K. To say the least I was upset. After 8 months I finally received a check for an additional 36K. I had to fight like hell to get it!!! The time and effort this company put in to not give me a decient settlement would have saved them manpower money in the long run. Our upstairs neighbor's kitchen and dining had two leaks above our dining and bedroom that caused $1,600 damage to our drywall. Progressive instructed me to send the report to the owner. My upper neighbor said he could not give it to them and I had to contact Homeowners choice with the damage report and cost 2 weeks ago. Today I received a letter stating that they will not repair the damages to our condo. I am now forced to contact the State of Florida insurance commission. This is unbelievable.

Homeowners choice does not do right by its policy holders. They do not pay valid claims. They make you sue them to get the coverage you pay for. My experience, and it seems that of many others, is that they do not pay attention to their policy holders until you have sued them.Then they miss deadlines, use stall tactics and string along the process asking the judges for extensions to get you to settle. We had to sue them and live in our damaged home for a year with a leaking roof, and other property damages caused by Hurricane Irma. After settling with us for our claimed repairs, we had damage caused by the insured roofer we were paying to repair our roof. The roofer caused thousands of dollars in documented water damages to our home, which will be covered by their state mandated insurance and bond. It is a cut and dry case where they pay for the damages then recover those from the contractor's insurance. HCPI sent out a crew that later found asbestos in the damaged rooms. They have been up to their same games. We filed our claim over 90 days ago, and have been living with our 11 year old in a home that is severely water damaged. We are living with visible signs of mold from the soggy insulation still there within the walls and ceilings. We are living with asbestos which was confirmed by HCPI's water damage people, and an independent asbestos removal company, and contractor, and the asbestos removal people have been waiting over 30 days since submitting their scope of work to the company and walking through with the insurance adjuster. We have sent a demand letter and looks like we are going into litigation once again. Do not do business with this company, it's a scam.

Debra, Nick, and Steve were all great to work with through the entire process, which took less than a month to complete, and each person was knowledgeable and courteous in our dealings. It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with this company. We put in a claim for a leaking sink pipe and they were able to get an adjuster out within a few days. The adjuster approved half of what needed to be done. We have now been going back and forth with the company to get the entire portion approved and also we have to now have mold remediation. We can not get anyone on the phone, they don't return calls, they just ignore you. We have been without running water in our kitchen and our guest bathroom sink now for more than 1 month! Their customer service is non existent. Once we finally get through this claim process, we will be dropping them.

I have worked with MANY companies across the state and by far this company supersedes an other companies customer service by 1000%! From claims to billing to customer service I would recommend them to everyone I could. No company is perfect ... but homeowners Choice is pretty close!

We started a claim and an adjuster came to inspect the property. The claim was not covered and then they cancelled my insurance based on photos the inspector made. Our home was going through a remodel at the time, with new impact resistant windows being installed and lots of upgrades. They cancelled based on photos stating disrepair. I think it's absurd to cancel a policy when improvements are being made. Based on looking at other reviews, I am glad to be leaving them.

If i could zero stars this place i would. I very rarely give a bad review but this place was more than deserving. A complete miscarriage of my claim from start to finish. My agent Stephanie was atrocious. Would never return calls, neither same day nor next day. Never. I was constantly given poor information that ultimately was handled in house after speaker with a different customer service agent. Then when im trying to get the checks sent out that are over a month late. They assure me both are sent. And what do you know? I only get one. And they tell me I have to wait days to even have the other sent. Both my agent and her supervisor were inept. If you need good help keep calling customer service. LUZ IN PARTICULAR WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL.

This company is a fraud....they cover nothing at all. They are also very insensitive to your damage or losses. When you speak to them they absolutely hesitate to answer your questions because they know how shady they really are. They supply nothing but codes and sections as answers. What crooks to be taking advantage of all Hurricane Irma victims. Do you know that Hurricanes do not produce wind or rain and therefore their Windstorm only policy is not responsible for any claims ? Shame on them!

I had Anchor, which apparently lost its rating, and my policy was transferred over to this company. My premium with Anchor was $2873/yr. I just received my new policy from this company with the new premium - $4320. That's an increase of over 50% for the same coverage. For that kind of money, I can just to go State Farm, and after reading all these bad reviews, that's exactly what I plan to do.

Their company is the worst for homeowners. The person assigned to my claim never returns my calls or responds to my emails. My home has roof damage from Hurricane Sally, and this company has not given me the adequate pay out to replace my roof. They refuse to give the funds to replace my floors, walls and doors even though black mold was found in these areas. The company sent out a technician to check for black mold and it is documented that this all should be removed. I might as well have no insurance and not pay for it because basically that is what I have here. They should be closed down by the insurance commission. Perhaps if enough homeowners complain about them we can make it happen. Put them out of business.

I've never actually used this mans services before, but as a gas station attendant who has had interactions with this man I can tell you, hes a piece of work. Never once says hello, thank you, nothing. This may not seem as important as insurance but you have to consider that he drives around with his company plastered all over his emissions belching dually acting as unprofessional as a greenhorn on his first day.

Season is around the corner and yet nothing still. Do your homework before you sign with an insurance company. Didn't even want to put one star.

Buyers beware... when compared to my other neighbors with larger homes built around the same time, my premium was way higher. This company had the most outrageous premiums. Do your homework and you'll find a better company with a much lower price.

My experience with HCPCI has been outrageous. It's been over a year & my home is still not complete.
Make sure the company that does your property contents loss includes everything that is damaged the first time. I'm grateful I had insurance because if not... I'd have nothing.
If I could do it all over again...
I would hire an attorney immediately because my adjuster was very difficult to reason with.
We went to mediation, The state mediator Cynthia said in her 20 years of doing this, she's never had such a disrespectful person representing a homeowners insurance company. At mediation I had itemized over 22k in losses but ended up settling for about half because I was pressured into it.
I am now in the situation where my house is incomplete and I've ran out of money to finish my home.
My own opinion is that in any claim with them, hire a good attorney & don't sign any settlement documents.
I've been paying over 1k a year for 16 years & this is my 1st ever claim.
This past years been the hardest year of my life because I have to argue with my own insurance company & I'm out of $$$ because it taken a year to completely rebuild a home, the fact that hurricane Mathew made a direct hit 20 miles from me has nothing do do with the delay... lol.
Just such a disappointment all around.
If they correct the issue, I'll make a review & repost.

I rarely do reviews on anybody. But this Insurance Company is horrible. I submitted a claim on 6-14-2020. All kind of inspectors and structural engineers had inspected my house since then. They all agreed that my 15 years old shingles needs to be replaced. I have tons of leaks and water damage. I have called and left messages with no answer. Its been over 3 months and no responses to my voicemail. I called 2 times a week and no answer yet. 3 tarps and no updates. Horrible Company

I have currently Citizens insurance but My agent advise me to look into this company and if I want to switch because I m going to pay less but after I read ALL THE BAD REVIEW I rather stick to Citizens even though I pay more but at least it is more reliable than this one. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I had a choice to stay with Citizens or go with Home Owners Choice seamlessly and thought that not having to shop around would be good but also was confident that I would not pay more with them. I had been thrown in to Citizens when I bought my house because none of the Insurance companies in Florida would take on anymore customers. I have a house that it high and dry, never a claim and always paid on time.

Unfortunately Home Owners Choice is not my choice anymore.
I wish I could reverse and go back to Citizens. Home Owners Choice is taking advantage of people like me by charging us over 500.00 more a year.

Now if I want to go somewhere else I also have the cost of an inspection because my house was built in 1970. Its a block home on an old orchard its not like its falling apart!!!

Took about a month to get an adjuster here after Irma; I understand that there are lots of claims. Adjusters were not professional in any way. Weeks later the company called me to see if adjusters had been here. Weeks later they were still trying to obtain the report from the "adjusters". Phone calls are answered, transfers are made and voice mail ensues without any return phone call.
I'll be going to the Florida State Insurance Department soon if this continues.
