Great hospital one of my favorites. Professional and compassionate staff. Very modern building with advanced technology equipment. TV with Internet acess in all rooms and spaces in the er. This or hakansac is the only er I would go to in case of emergency

I can't believe there is such a low-level hospital in New Jersey. Since many Korean doctors are on the air, I chose my father who is not good at English. There seems to be no difference in the number of back-counters who are unable to help Koreans. I can't get in touch with my doctor and I can't tell what's going on and what's going on. Hospital facilities, working nurses and staff are also poor. The hot water comes out of the shower, and I didn't wait for more than 15 minutes. The patient's hygiene doesn't seem to matter: the bedsheets don't change for days and no paddy leaves or clothing. If the family does not visit and change in person, I will leave it alone. I want to go to this hospital or not to be hospitalized. Even if I don't speak English, I am looking for an interpreter at the hospital. I've been to several hospitals in New Jersey, but this is the worst.
Words are not enough to describe how great the labor was with Dr Ganza and the team Ellina , Jessica , Loren & Mary .Also the anesthesia Dr . Everything went smoothly . All of them were on high level of professionalism and they surrounded us with emotions and care .Thank you guys and God bless you all
Holy Name was once a very reputable hospital but it is so grossly understaffed now that it is like a 3rd world experience going to this hospital. If it is a holiday weekend, don t get injured or sick. If you do, go somewhere else.
Do not go! The treatment looks Okay but medical bills are the worst part. I have medical insurance but some test or doctor are not in net work and got huge bill. When I contact them they replied rude and say no plan available to help payment plans. That hospital has no financial helps, then you will be fighting with medical bills with them.
Emergency room staff are loud, and unprofessional. It was not a CODE, but just talking loudly... Insurance rep, loudly asked for my Social Security number, which I declined to state it "out loud"....The ER Doctor was disinterested, and rude to my partner. They seem understaffed, and not interested in patient care.
Amazing experience every time I go there! I have been suffering with multiple sclerosis for the past 16 years and for 8 of those years I have trusted in holy name Hospital with all of my medical needs. Having everything in one hospital is so convenient for a person in my situation and I am so grateful for holy name Hospital for all of their service and attention! The staff is amazing and attentive, very friendly. I am certainly not changing hospitals and I live 15 minutes away, so grateful to the e.r. staff and Dr. Shirley for being fantastic
My husband and I like this hospital because the staff is professional, nice and caring. I was at the hospital on Saturday the 18th and I had the best service with all the staff, specially with Dr. Huang Kai and the nurses on that day. Pain persisted throughout the weekend so whined up returning to the hospital on 1/20. This time it was full of people so it took much longer to be seen since they were short staff and not enough rooms but ones I was in, my nurse Jacqueline, the entire ER staff was quick and caring with all the patients there. I want to thank Chris at Radiology who did the CT scan. All the staff was amazing and God bless them!
The nurses at the Birth Place are the most caring, loving and supportive. I delivered my baby there 7 months ago and i had to stay for 3 days and i was throught different shift. Each of the nurses who took care of me made me feel safe. Especially i want to say to Maria who helped me during delivery, thank you very very much Maria, i never forgot you.
Amazing! Went for a colonscopy and an endoscopy and the nurses as well as all the staff were all amazing! They made sure everything ran smoothly and were so helpful during the whole process!
was sexually assaulted in recovery in 2007, and they told me I wasn't alone unconscious , but my husband was lead to the room where I was all alone with no sheet on. hospital really cares about there patients... do not go there for anything....
Worst hospital ever!! My sister just had a c-section there and they wouldn t let anyone under eighteen visit. (even if you re related or they re your children) Another thing that s mandatory is to wake the mother up every two hours to feed the child...they let the mom sleep five hours and when she woke up she was in so much pain she was shaking!! The staff was extremely rude and I do not suggest having a child here!!
Some nurses had bad attitudes and it was evident that they were unclear on patient protocol. I wasn't the patient, but it was still bothering me to see that someone I love is in the hands of people who were confused on how to handle a mentally ill patient. Other than that, the manager of the floor was super nice and so were some of the other nurses that didn't constantly belittle us.
ER doc's English comprehension and communication were unaccetable and she made mistakes. Then you are overbilled and insurance company had to fight them and we had to ignore scary collections notices. Everyone knows you choose another ER.
Bad someone from my family has to wait hours because they don't hv a ultrasound tech There . that's just TErrible service !!! Don't go there for any emergency that requires a Test !
I am just leaving the hospital. I had a my son here , & there couldn't be better medical care than the one they offered to my baby and I at the Holy Name Hospital. Great operation in all the services area: nurses (with the exception of one or two), doctors MDs, pedriatitians, etc . I recommend it to all pregnant women.
Don't go here. This place discharged my husband who had major neck surgery within days even though I tried to get him to stay. He couldn't even walk he was in so much pain. They don't care. Once home I called 911 and he was brought to Mountainside hospital where they are keeping him and bringing him to rehab.DON'T GO HERE. This is a place not fit for DOGS
I dislocated my L thumb last Nov 2015 after playing basketball. I am from NY and it happened it NJ. This is the closest hospital. They were good but they never told me that they bill separate for the ER and the doctor. I end up paying 350 for emergency and 600 dollars for the collection agency. I think this a good hospital but billing no good. Be aware of the billing.
I visited Holy name hospital on July 12th, 2015. I felt sick for several days and had high fever and chills. I had family trip to Dominican Republic about week before i got sick. I had told the nurse and doctor about my trip to DR, but they did not pay attention. I went through so many test, but doctor told me that i have unknown virus and have no medicine. While i was at the ER, i told doctor i still have fever and chills, and asked her what shall i do? Doctor said, just take tylenol and motrin. I came home and i was deadly sick for four extra night with high fever and chills. On fourth day,I couldn't take the sickness any more, so my sister took me to the Englewood hospital ER and found out that i had Malaria. Malaria is a life threatening disease, because i was misdiagnosed by Holy name hospital. I lost my red blood cells and platelets a lot through four extra days. My infectious doctor said, i can't get injured, cut or get bruises, once i bleed, it won't stop because Malaria was eating my platelets.
I made complaint to the hospital and that's when i found out that they did not run the Malaria test on me when i was at ER. Even though i told them i made trip to Dominican Republic. When i complaint about why they did not treat me according to WHO recommend, Manager of the ER doctor said, they never get up date their knowledge with WHO (world health organization), nor CDC (Centers for disease control) to treat patient. He said, i never seen anybody getting Malaria from DR in 35 years of his practice.
Please do not treat patient with your assumption, it is only one click away, please up date your knowledge and educate your staff, so people who visit holy name hospital don't have to suffer or put their life in danger.
Avoid the ER. Patrick, an ER staff employee, was rude. I approached to ask a question, he pretended not to hear. I asked once again, he looked at me annoyed responding, "I'm in the middle of something." He didn't seem busy. I work in the healthcare field, I was extremely shocked by the lack of professionalism he showed.
To whom it may concern. My name is Aileen I was a patient at Holy Name Hospital in October 23, 2014. I went in trough the Emergency department after having a surgery done at St. Mary Hospital in Passaic, NJ a few days prior, I was very sick and had to have a second emergency procedure done, I thank God every day as when I arrived at Holy Name Medical center never did I imagined I would get the on divided attention and care I did. My surgeon was Steven Becker, I was admitted for five days and there is not enough words for me to express the amazing team this hospital have I was in the floor Five Chadwick. the nurses and assistance unbelievable. A special Thanks to all the staff. Especially to Ryan Hernandez, Luisa Vanegas and Christen Verreengia, with out your support and care I would of not be here. I pray for you all may god keep you safe and bless you in all you do and desire in life. it takes a lot of heart to deal with people and there illness and you all prove to me How special you all are. thank you Holy Name for employing the best team!
I am in emergency room. I just urinated in a bed pan on fold up chair because bathroom is filthy and they couldn't Find anyone to clean it. THere are no rooms available and they have admitted me. I have to sleep in emergency room. It is 11:50 pm and I still am waiting for a regulate me bed but since NO One can find sheets for it I sit and wait. This place is falling apart. After coming from a test a gentleman was pushing me in bed and slammed into walls, I was so nervous and asked him to stop. He kept blaming the bed. I have more to say the hair wrapped up in the wheels of my bed is disgusting. Never again, I will sign myself out tomorrow and go to Hackensack Medical. I love Teaneck, I love here. This is a terrible disappointment.
I had an appointment there this week in the radiology department and Oh My God how those ladies treated me, the hospital was amazing!!! The atmosphere was amazing!! My ultra sound went amazing and how comfortable they made me feel it was amazing! Thank Holy Name and the ladies (radiology department) you were great! Also I want to give a shout out to the register department Alieen she was so kind and made me feel comfortable once again everyone thank you!
My brother went for an endoscopy today and everyone was amazing! Dr. Ayman Abdel-Wahab, anesthesiologist Dr. Gross & the staff from Endo, Jazmin from Transport and Mary Elizabeth(RN) from Peds were super nice and made us feel comfortable. Thank you so much for your excellent service!
Kind an compassionate staff. Attentive to needs. Decent food. Only complaint is there was a nasty NP psychiatrist that covered my psychiatrist on weekends. Otherwise everyone was fantastic.
I want to say great thank you for an amazing experience at holy name labor and delivery. I had a premature scare and had to spend 3 days with them. And the nurses were super nice and everyone helping the units. Made me comfortable during times of fright and were very accommodating to my husband especially during these covid times. These was basically what I hope is a preview of what my labor and delivery will be with them and it gives me some sort of comfort for the times coming ahead. The rooms are nice ,private and cozy and they try to accommodate you in anyway . It's not a huge room but honestly with their services and hospitality it doesn't matter . I rather have them attentive and nice than a luxury suite. My husband was eating the food because I was on a clear diet and he liked it for being hospital food. He had a pull out chair. But at least he was next to me.
Hope to see you again next year for my real experience. Special thank you for Shandra, Kelly,Sarah ,Maria and Natalia.
Everything there was great! The nurses and the whole staff are very caring, they all know their stuff and are really professional. Especially Matthew, he made me feel like he really cares about my case and I really appreciate that. Dr.Blitz is good as well, they all just want the best for you and know more than just a regular neurologist because they are specialized in MS.
Yesterday had to go to holy name hospital for a epidural shot for my back pain! By my great pain management dr Isaiah florence there! PERFECT EXPERIENCE! KIND SINCERE CARING FROM EVERY KIND PERSON AS I ENTERED AND LEFT BY THERE STAFF! AMAZING DAY! THANK YOU Blessings! Love REV Douglas moser
Friendly staff... Friendly atmosphere. I walked in here very nervous, but I was very happy when walking out. Great hospital that really cares about you.
Was diagnosed with thyroid issues. Dr Kwon saw explained detailed my results made me feel trust and obedient to him and his plan for my health. I've given 100% to Dr Kwon and would definetly recomd to anyone with medical issues you can only expect 100% dedication to you from Dr Kwon and his staff Karen office manager. Thank Dr Kwon
I went ER with an incredible pain in my back from falling in my house. I was in tears all the time that I stayed there because of the pain. At the end they send me home with the same pain that Brought me there. Here comes the worst. I started getting bills all over the places. I had to make a deal with them to pay what I thought will be the last one, almost $1000. In monthly payments. But, didn t stop there, I keep getting more bills another one for more than $900 and when I call to ask about it they Said that I still have an extra one not receive yet for more than $500. I have insurance, they charge my insurance too. How much is ER for a few hours and coming back home with the same pain??
My granddaughter went there as she has symptoms of guillain barre syndrome they refused to do the tests that were needed to be done to check for this. They admitted her she went paralyzed in her entire body transferred her to ICU as she was having breathing problems the house doctor wanted MRI done with contrast however the nerouoloist refused . They sent her home and now she is worse than she was unable to walk . If anything happens to her this hospital will be held responsible along with everyone that was involved. If you have a serious illness don t go here!
For 5 years they did not know what was wrong with my father. He went in Friday June 12, he died in their presence Monday June 15 after the "procedure" they did on him. A staff from the hospital called his wife stating "he is no longer here with us" and then the actual doctor called back 3 days later to tell us how he passed. Absolutely horrible and horrified by this hospital. My grandfather use to be a patient as well but passed away because of this hospital.
Great place to get well again!!. Personel and doctors are fantastic!. And my dad Luis Iglesias is very thankful for the care the food and treatment of doctors nurses and staff at Holy Name medical center. I Would like to also thanks Dr. Gilberto F. Gastel, Dr. Harris B. Tesher and nurse Mili for your great treatment and for giving my dad a future and hope!!
Everyone here - nurses, patient advocates, chaplain, volunteers and even parking attendant - did such a great job taking care of my father. They are on top of their game!
Was working as a per diem and experienced a lot of confusion in the staff. They blamed their new central monitoring system for their lack of knowledge. Having worked for MS in NYC this was quite alarming. The burden on the staff was caused by the monitoring system shutting off repeatedly and unexpectedly. Never heard of the company Mindray but they never showed up on time to fix things and were always blaming their sales rep. Glad I moved on to another provider, this was scary stuff for patients and families!!!
Zero stars for you guys I must admit . Came in here with abdominal pain , the pain level was about an 8 out 10 . I was seen by Dr. John Koliapoulos and he determined that there was nothing wrong with me. And ordered my release from the hospital .I think this doctor just wanted to go home himself and did not care for the patient he was treating. The whole staff was a joke , like they were on a play ground and all having fun and making fun of the patients. I feel very dissapointed with the treatment i received and i hope that nothing happens to me because of this negligence . All they care about is the people with good health insurance so they can milk it. I told them i had no insurance and they told me it was $600 for all the exams they were to perform , well all they did was blood work and they did not give the results all he said was you are fine , just go home . I told him its not fair , they also put an IV and the nurse forgot to turn it on so all the three hours i spent there with an IV on my arms nothing got in my veins. I hope this help somebody else because they do this to alot of people but i wont be back there any time soon.
I am an Emergency Dept. RN in NYC, but always loved Holy Name Medical Center. I had 2 minor surgeries there this year, and each time the experience was phenomenal!!! The facility, the care providers from the surgical team, nursing team, & auxilliary, they were just awesome!!! LOVED IT! 5 stars! KUDOS!
Issues with care fall under the radar, unless the patient contact JACHO to report bad healthcare practices, this place will not do better............. uhhhhh
My daughter was brought to holy name by ambulance last week. She was admitted to the ICU quickly. She was in ICU for 7days. The NURSES were absolutely amazing. I can't believe how hard they work. She was constantly cared for. She is recovering nicely. Thanks Holy Name!
I absolutely enjoyed my experience at this hospital I had to get a procedure done and the staff made me feel so calm and comfortable. All the nurses were very sweet. This will be my go to hospital from here on. I am looking forward to delivering my baby here.
The emergency department was well staffed and the doctors and nurses were top notch. My husband was admitted to the first floor in Interventional Radiology. His nurse Coleen was the most caring, wonderful and compassionate person we have every met as well as all the other nurses and aides (Radh). They made his first two very uncomfortable days bearable!
The nurses at the Birth Place are the most caring, loving and supportive. I delivered my baby there and i had to stay for 5 days and i was throught different shift. Each of the nurses who took care of me made me feel safe and i was relieve that i know i was in good hands. Thalia, Daisy, Jeana, Miriam names i won't forget and always be so grateful.
Avoid HolyName if you can. Horribly under staffed, patients packed in waiting room. We took 90 year old fathercame into emergency. We waited 3 hours in lobby , then another 4 + hours in the room until doctor showed up. We were told only 1 doctor covering emergency. We asked for discharge to go to another hospital. LOBBY was still lots of people waiting to be served.
I call Holyname Hospital the third week of September to do my pre admission, and was told that a nurse would call me,and next week Friday is my surgery,up until now that NURSE hasn't called me,this is very unprofessional, are they gonna wait until the last minute to call me,they can forget it.
Thank YOU so very much to Holy Name and their Labor and Delivery nurses and doctors. I was in labor for 13 hours , had anxiety, a panic attack, and at the end had to have a c-section performed. The staff at this hospital were able to keep me calm, continuously checked in on me and were determined to make me feel relaxed and comfortable. The staff is quite professional and took time to answer all of My queries which consisted of: procedural queries and aftermath, baby monitors, what to expect in terms of recovery to even the best baby sleeping techniques (to name a few). My doctor has been fantastic throughout my 9 month journey and while in labor did not sugar coat anything. She was transparent and when my daughter was in distress she immediately told me what to expect next. During my entire experience the staff made me super relaxed and I felt safe in their care!! Bottom line: The Labor and Maternity staff are dedicated, professional, compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, quick to assist and take their time to make a patient feel relaxed. Thank you again for everything ! God bless!
Terrible Hospital Please stay away, They Rip you off without hesitation,
Scheduling extra visits just to tell things which can give easily told over the phone- such as answers yes or no . Doctor Mohammad Padela not professional, didn t do anything to help, cares about money more than about patients,
just sent me to the MRI, told multiple times that I should not worry and go to the procedure cause my insurance Approved it, then couple months later I ve got a bill for $2200 for this procedure which was approved .
I ve asked multiple times doctor and front deck if it will be covered they confirmed yes, and now I am at debt collectors. Please stay away form these robbers
Today was the worst day and experience at Holy Name Hospital, I don t even know where to begin. I went to the emergency room at 9:30am for a strained groin muscle, I was in so much pain , waited 2 hours before I was called in , and then when I was called in , I was placed in a room and they completely forgot about me for another two hours then finally a nurse practitioner walked in and asked me why I was there and told me she needed my urine so I went to the bathroom got the urine sample And again that was left in the room waiting for an hour, I finally said something and ask them why no one has come to see me and the nurse practitioner immediately got defensive and expressed her experience and years in the hospital because she thought that I was implying that she was not a nurse but really I was asking because I was left alone for so long there and I just wanted to know how we were going to move forward and possibly speak to a doctor, Moments later another nurse came in and said they want to send me to an x-ray but they need my errands first the sample e urine that I took an hour prior to this , So now I need to wait for them to get the urine sample bag to confirm I am not pregnant so that I can get an x-ray done but now I only have a half an hour before I have to leave and pick up my daughter I literally spent the entire day in the hospital , When I saw that there was no way I was going to be able to get the x-ray done and leave in time to pick up my daughter from school I asked to be discharged and the doctor came to me and told me that getting an x-ray would ve been just a waste of time so the best thing I can do is go home and rest , They were extremely insensitive to my pain and my feelings and to make matters worse when I was leaving in a very sarcastic told the nurses told me to have a jolly Christmas knowing how upset I was . The most unprofessional staff and worst experience ever in holy name hospital I don t recommend anyone to go there
I've been here many times. I've been to many much worse hospitals, e.g., Hackensack, Meadowlands, Palisades, etc. Until people have had gone to other facilities and had experienced their services, you can't compare or make a comparison. Oh yeah, there are other great local hospitals close by, e.g., Valley, Englewood, even JCMC, Holy Name is definitely a winner.
All hospitals do have times when they are backed up but when push comes to shove Holy Namee puts it's best foot out all the time. You'll always have negative inputs for everything but if you must hit a medical facility you'll not be disappointed going to Holy Name. If they're busy then you'll wa it like you will in all others as well. I go to an allergist out of Hackensack. The nurses there also do not have very high regards for the hospital itself because it really is so short staffed as well as being designated as a trauma center. And, food is very decent at Holy Name. In the end if you unfortunately have to go and seek medical treatment keep this institution on the top of your fist.
No one really likes a hospital, but, for a number of years, my mother has gotten superb medical and nursing treatment here. The culture is fantastic and all levels of staff from the cafeteria to nurses to doctors are so kind and considerate. Caring is truly valued at stressful times.
Given labor bed in post partum room which aggravated vaginal stitches and caused hemorrhoid
Tuck pad application instructions where given incorrectly
Asked to use breast pump but advised against it by lactation specialist just for prepping up before feeding baby
When asked to replace bloodied sheet asked to show blood and pulled sheets off the mother while she was breast feeding instead of doing the decent thing and waiting
Mortrin painkiller was ordered but not given when lactation specialist asked only then it was provided previously we were told its normal to have pain and no need to take any pain relief medication
These are some of the few instances which made the whole experience of having first child terrible
Never knew they had a behavior health unit and when my family member went there he had a great experience and both day and evening staff were caring, compassionate, professional, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and well trained. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Fantastic experience... I am surprised that no more reviews give it 5 stars. I had knee repair surgery in the Same Day Surgery center and I cannot say enough how efficient and well run the process was - but more significantly how great the staff was throughout my entire time there. Caring, pleasant, responsive and competent - thank you!
Everytime i go to this hospital the nurses are so nice they always want to help you,the food ordering system and delivery needs to be more accurate in time but the rest is great.
I went to their emergency room Saturday because I had ringworms on my neck that were spreading rapidly. Despite my treating it at home it got really bad and had severe discomfort. When I arrived I was seen by a PA who heard me out and let me know she too thought it was a fungal issue. She told me she could not prescribe me anti fungal meds because they damage the liver. I let her know I had a full bod scan in this same hospital two weeks ago and I was fine. However after she left Dr. Jesson Yeh a male chauvinist A- hole told me I didn t know what I was speaking of and there were no such thing as ringworms on the neck. That he will not prescribe anything antifungal. He didn t even let me show him the photos i have been taking daily to show the progression of what I had. I even did my own research and tried showing him examples of neck ringworms online. He refused to see it walked out and sent a nurse to shoot me up with steroids. When I asked the nurse what that was and what were the side effects she told me she did not know the side effects. I explained to her I had one kidney and was not comfortable with having medication I didn t need put in my body and with no explanation as to what it can do to me. I was completely ignored by here as well. She came back and asked if I was going to get the medication and just gave me discharge papers. That said I was diagnosed with a rash and given meds for a rash. I then went home woke up only to realize I now had ringworms on my face and spread down to my chest and shoulders. Only because of the complete neglect and disrespect from Dr. Jesson Yeh and his nurse. I rushed to Palisades hospital where the doctor took the time to look at the photos of the daily progression of the ringworms, put on gloves and looks at my neck chest and face. Then prescribed me antifungal creme and referred me to a dermatologist with a two day excuse from work. Had this been done when I entered Holy Name Emergency room it would have been controlled and not spread to my face and neck. I will be reporting this animal to the board of medicine for his neglect and complete disregard to my concerns and research on what I had. For given false statement that ringworms on the neck didn t exist and calling me a liar. Told me he didn t care what google said it is a rash. Because of you Dr Jesson Yeh my face is now ruined and I have it all over my chest and shoulders to where I cannot even sleep and now I ve to miss work because of something you could ve controlled with a proper diagnosis. This man is a danger to this hospital and has no bedside manner nor respect for patients and their concerns. He is the worse doctor I ve ever had the disgrace of knowing and the nurse he works with who was ready and willing to put medication in me she did not even know the side effects for is just as guilty for his neglect. She too didn t care about my concerns and sent me on my way when I refused to take meds I did not know what they were for or what it would do to my body. This is not staying this way what they did to me could easily be done to someone else. It cost my situation to spread and this neglect could easily cost someone their life. They are a hazard to all patients they encounter and I will do everything in my power to make sure no one else is treated the way I was.
I went to holy name hospital er Sunday night. Obviously going to the er is never fun but my experience could not have been better from start to finish. Pleasant helpful staff. Kept me up to date on what was happening and time frame. Julia is above and beyond amazing at what she does and keeping the er running. Diane was my nurse and Jennifer did my stitches. Helpful polite knowledgeable great dispositions. And when I went to leave after 3 hours and my car battery had died security was there to jump my car and send me home happy and safe. The staff and care is amazing.
My daughter was there on June 1st, had surgery under general anesthesia and was forced out by the pushy nurses assistants less than an hour after surgery. I was told to go get the car, as I drove to main entrance I see my daughter walking out by herself, no one making sure she was ok. Unfortunately, my daughter is sick young lady due to a genetic disease and we have visited all of the Hospitals in the area, by far this is the worst dump of all. Starting with the unprofessional aide in the waiting area, too preoccupied in learning how to work the computer system to look up her pay check. She was on the phone with which I gathered another employee for over an hour. I was waiting for her to get off the phone to direct me to my daughter's room, when she finally did I asked, her answer same room she was in this morning. Take a guess I was not there when she checked in, she had to uber herself there as she was told to check in at 5 a.m. I worked until midnight the night before, yes I do work in the medical field and have never seen such outrageous treatment to the patients and families. Through out my career in every training PATIENT FIRST. Holly Name learn something, your patient's are paying your outrageous checks. Let me clarify my daughter is not on welfare she has very good insurance provided by her employer just in case you were wondering, can't imagine what would happen to a patient on Medicaid.
Tried calling to find out if my sister was still at the hospital and was made to play phone tag with every department and told me nothing. Completely unprofessional and frustrating to no end. My sister has a mental disorder and I can t get any information from this hospital
I recently attended pre-op testing and I must say the staff was exemplary. Samantha and Pam just to name a few as I didn't catch some of the other names. A pleasant experience often hard to find these days. Kudos to the staff
I had an echocardiogram scheduled through my cardiologist. The day before the procedure, Holy Name called me to ask me to pay for my procedure. They said I would be responsible for $1200 because I had not met my deductible. That was true, but I was surprised that the procedure was that expensive. I immediately called my insurance company and my doctor's office. My insurance company said providers are not allowed to ask for payment before the procedure -- and that normally a patient does NOT pay for the services until after the claim is filed with the insurance company. Furthermore, the negotiated rate between the insurance company and the provider (i.e. "allowed amount") is far less than the amount the provider bills. In my case, my procedure should have only cost me around $500 out of pocket.
I called Holy Name back after I got to the bottom of this, and the woman back-pedaled on the conversation we had earlier in the day. She finally said that I was free to wait until after they filed the claim with the insurance company. When I confronted her that she is not allowed to make me pay for a medical procedure ahead of time, she told me "that was what she was told to tell patients." I then proceeded to give her a piece of my mind about patient advocacy. If I had not been adamant about understanding the process, I would have paid $1200 today. Someone with far more limited means and more serious health conditions would have been completely taken advantage of.
It's no wonder healthcare costs in the U.S. are out of control. We, the consumers, need to demand answers and accountability!
By far the worst hospital ever!! ER never has real doctors but only Pysican Assistant and in my book they are not "Real" Doctors. 2) They will bill your health insurance for services not provided. 3) you are expected to pay a 100.00 co-pay for the ER visit for what? To be told go see your primary care doctor and do anything for you at the time of visit. I don't get it? The whole point of going to the ER is because it's an Emergency and one needs medical care, not to be told we can't do anything for you or we don't have the means to treat you here at this hospital, go see your primary care doctor.. This has happened to me twice in a 4 month span and I am in the process of appealing it with my Health care provider Cigna! Holy Name should reimburse Cigna for the funds paid out! #Scammers#HospitalSucks!
One of the absolute worst experiences I have ever had at a hospital. Awful communication, awful staff, rude nurses and doctors. I have never in my life been so disgusted with a hospital facility. Will not recommend nor will I ever come back.
Unfortunately I have had to use Holy Name too many times in the past few years for some rather serious conditions. Everybody likes to complain about things like food and things like that. It is a hospital not a 5 star resort. Medically I can't thank the staff enough wonderful. Would have been a five star but I did have an issue with a very nasty nurse, but that situation was rectified by her boss. I have more problems during my overnight (sometimes several night stays) with nasty patients most of them with no insurance and their families being obnoxious to the staff as well as patients! I'll be back again soon and if these reviews are actually read by the staff I would like a slightly better snack choice after same day surgery as a reward (Just Kidding) This place has come a long since growing up in Teaneck!
One of the worst hospitals in the tri state area. The staff is rude to both patients and guests. Their diagnoses are not thorough. The best part of this hospital is the parking ticket machine- it gives clear instructions.
I was there on Sat, Dec 10th. And let me tell u this is one of the best hospital I have ever been. They register patients while taking your vitals which makes your emergency room visit way faster. I was at another hospital 3 times for lower abdominal pain and they found nothing like always, in this hospital they found what i had without any hesitation. Nurses and doctors and front desk ladies are really nice and open to hear you. Best experience ever. Here they do care. Thank you!!
Worst experience ever!!! This POS hospital held me hostage for 20 hours refusing to let me sign myself out! Then billed my insurance the insane amount of over $18,000!! For anyone who's counting that's over $900 an hour (mind you in that 20 hour period, I was not in a room, received one inedible meal and was stuck on an ER bed with a bad back! I actually spent about 8 hours sitting in a chair because I was so uncomfortable!) After being paid over $16,000 by my insurance they were not satisfied and are now coming after me for even more money! (Mostly due to incorrect coding on their part which caused denials by insurance) They are nothing more than money hungry, greedy. Scumbags!! Food is disgusting at best....bedside manners horrible, they hole you up in an area with no windows, not allowed outside at all and refuse to let you leave! I had to threaten to call the cops to finally get released! DO NOT GET MEDICAL ATTENTION HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HSVE YOUR CREDIT DESTROYED BY THIS GREEDY HOSPITAL !!
I would actually give 5 stars to the staff in the ER.. they took such good care of my mom. Then she was transferred to the 3rd floor where they put all the other elderly's. Talking about rude, lazy and incompetent. I got the feeling of a bad nursing home. They would make her go in a bed pan and wouldn't clean it and let her lay in it. The day she was being discharged is when the nurse on duty was caring and great. (That's also because she called her primary Dr and begged him to call and get her discharged. I thought a job of being a nurse was to care. Training needs to be done there.
