Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica Review

Very nice hotel near Oslo. Far from the airport. Short walk with steep inclines to catch the train.

Great hotel and great reception. Two points of criticism, the parking garage is very expensive and the cost of the buffet is disproportionate to the offer. Too expensive or too little, it's just how you look at it.

Beautiful hotel. Amazing view, and very nice suites. We had pre-booked late checkout. Also double checked this. Still, someone came knocking on the door to clean our room early. We were in bed, and didn't open. The the reception called, we explained, and they said it was OK. Shortly after they tried to get in again. Not great! But the staff was apologetic and tried to compensate us afterwards.

Positive: great view and good breakfast. Negative: run down infrastructure, e.g. rooms, and cleanliness.

Not all that classy of a place, this seems to be the preferred hotel for average budget European tourists. The lobby, breakfast room are always full and loud. They sometimes even get unloaded by the busload here, that's the sort of place this is...
Buffet dinner is a bit meagre, not many vegetarian options save for some salads.
Staff is OK but not all are that friendly.
The quirky design and the amazing view are what this hotel has going for it, but for nearly the same money you can stay in nearby Soria Moria Conference Hotel, which is a MUCH nicer, quieter, classier and friendlier affair than this place.

We stopped here to take photos and to admire the stunning view. Sad that the hotel is currently closed due to corona. Will definitely come back.

Very nice and stylish hotel facility on the Holmenkollen.

Had Sten suite to be the best, not work whirlpool (never hot), long queue at the Restaurant, beer at the Restaurant and "everything" in the mini bar was expired, hair in the bath, did not get late checkout even though we came in 45min after our check in, did not get bucket for ice and generally poor service! Really not noticed, the husband!

Didn't sleep over, just visited Holmekollen. Cosy lobby, feel like skiing hotels.

Quite impressive, but very expensive, especially the zip line.

Great place atop Oslo. You can do most outdoor spot here from biking, running, rollerblade or ski during winter.

Lose 1 for a bit too old rooms. A little worn and bad drain in the gorge, but otherwise wonderfully great hotel. Adventurous breakfast buffet.

Super nice pool only long waiting times if you want to check in and have traveled long. With us there was an electricity outage and no solution was provided such as fresh water, spare room (so our luggage could go), ....

Very nice hotel with great service. There are impeccable views of the city from the hotel. Prices are quite ordinary compared to other hotels nearby. The rooms are a bit older and could have been modernized. Otherwise ok sites. You can take the train to and from the city just below the hotel.

Great stylish hotel with great views of the Oslofjord on one side. Here we have eaten the best homemade Tiramisu ever. Restaurant, bar, breakfast table and service can only be recommended. We enjoyed ourselves.

Very nice rooms. The service is on top there is nothing to complain about. There is spa and fitness room.

Great location overlooking the fjord. Very friendly staff at the reception. Great breakfast. Unfortunately, a lady who apparently runs the bar, for 2 days in a row has been very repellent and rude to us. It takes a bit of pleasure to write a better review. Apparently she does not like German guests.

Bei Ankunft im Hotel fiel uns gleich der sehr schmutzige Eingangsbereich auf.



Der Wasserkocher ist innen braun und es steht Wasser drin - definitiv nicht gereinigt!






Parken in der Garage kostet 150,-- Kronen pro Tag, einfach ein paar Meter weiter unten beim Holmenkollen-Parkplatz parken, der kostet nichts - also bitte diesem Hotel nicht noch mehr Geld in den Schlund werfen.

Scandic is always reliable, you get what you pay for. I like it.

As with any hotel it's nice and tidy, the personnel is kind to you, just like you would expect. I like their broadloom, I'm always a sucker for broadlooms though so don't take my word for it.

The pricing is pretty good, and the location is central as usual, you will not be dissapointed if you decide to spend the night here, but I can't say you will be mindblown either.

Used the hotel for a quiet boy's trip with my son of 11 years. One night, two visits to the gym, one hour with pool, jacuzzi and sauna all to ourselves (Saturday night), wonderful views, wonderful breakfast, professional staff. Recommended!

Breakfast was amazing! So much choice you wouldn't believe it! The area is great and the view from the entrance is enchanting. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. However! We walked, and It's a good 10 min walk from the train station but all the way steep uphill. Also I'm sure some rooms have a stunning view, ours looks out at a snowy bank. The room is a little out dated and the TV didn't work. No kettle in the room either and the nearest shop is 25mins walk both ways. I would recommend it but you have to be aware it's a task to get to!

Pretty good buffet, but the steak could have been better. A little meat per leg and a little dry. Otherwise very good. Very nice staff.

Had booked refurbished superior rooms (also the only ones they have pictures of on the website). When we checked in, we received no other info. When we got to the room, we were disappointed to get into the 90's. Large room with view but not fresh. Went back to the reception, which could inform you that we were upgraded due to fully booked hotel. We had the view but the poorer standard (in old rather than new part of the hotel). The receptionist could agree in our experience, but room cost alredy 250 more ... And nothing she could do, when they had vacant rooms.

Great hotel, close to the metro and with a beautiful view over Oslo. The rooms were good, the bathroom somewhat dated with a little mold on the bath. Very friendly staff and an amazingly extensive and good breakfast. Price / quality quite adequate.

Cold room, cold bath and cold shower. The food was also not top notch. But nice location

Standard Hotel. But very noisy the night we stayed in the form of partying gang until 4 at night. Fire alarm that worked but no information on what happened. An eventful night! Nice staff and good expensive food. Totally ok but hope that security and info are reviewed.

The hotel is in a traditional nordic looking like building. It has fantastic views over the Oslo fjord and its in a great location for hiking or skiing, depending on season. The food i had here is very high quality. You get very good quality for the price you pay here.

is an interesting hotel that used to be very high-end and exclusive around the time of the winter Olympics when it was held in Oslo. The restaurant that is here is very good quality and also very expensive. There is no room service and there is a pantry in the reception. The location to the world-famous Oslo ski jump and Nordic ski area is perfect. And the views from the hotel are absolutely breathtaking.

What a gorgeous old hotel. Reminds me of the Overlook in The Shining. Beautiful views.

Disappointing hotel is old and smells like a retirement home. View makes what good but price quality is hard to find.

I didn't stay but I had lunch here: caesar salad was just lettuce with tones of unknown dressing. Tomato soup was very salty and mediocre.
