Very cool historical atmosphere with lots of activities planned throughout the summer.
Very cool historical atmosphere with lots of activities planned throughout the summer.
Abandoned town. Just spent 45 min bus ride to get here and there is nothing to see and no one to talk to.
Love everything about Richmond town, from the fairs to the drive in movie nights. Learning about our past is always great. One of my favorite places on Staten Island.
How could you not love history? Great place. Great events held by Richmond County too.
The people are really nice and welcoming when you first enter
I was one of the vendors at the Richmond county fair .One of Staten Island's biggest Annual event.
Event or no event this place always has something educational and fun for everyone.
A trip to the past... Well kept and rustic.. hope to take the ghost tour
LOVE HISTORIC RICHMOND TOWN! wonderful tour takes you back to 1800s with appropriately dressed guide as they take you through houses dated back hundreds of years. They also explain all the things that average locals did back then.
A pleasant spot to enjoy a picnic. They also have some freshly made ice cream.
So happy they brought this place back to life. Thanks to Eggers Ice cream.
Saw Shakespeare Co's production of Judgment at Nuremberg
Awesome little old town ! The guys there are just perfect ! I loved it
Beautiful, well-preserved buildings, some dating from the Dutch colonial period.
It is free to walk around and take pictures of the buildings, but guided tours are not, although it's pay-as-you-wish every Friday. The guided tours, which can be booked at the Visitors' Center, allow guests to go inside the buildings and learn about their historic and cultural significance.
I like that they do not try to touch or renovate the buildings unnecessarily in order to preserve their authenticity.
My guide, Ain, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient with questions. I did not feel overwhelmed with information.
The place is a bit difficult to reach by public transportation from all the other New York City boroughs, including Manhattan, so those without a car might want to reconsider. From Manhattan, it takes at least an hour to reach the place by bus.
Great place for history, clean friendly, nice ice cream at Eggers and good community days for Pokemon
Just fascinating, the history, artifacts, atmosphere, and the staff were all a wonderful experience!
Old timey perfect, and good parties and other events
We were there for the summer eats. The food truck food was good but wait time for our food was long. Prices were average. The dairy free ice cream was fantastic.
I was there for the Richmond County Fair. Lots a great food, especially the mac n cheese truck!! There were also a lot of rides and games for the kids. It is also a great place to visit any time.
Unfortunately when we came alot of the stuff was closed due to the weather but we will return..
Very welcoming and happy people, great selection of rides and attractions for kids.
American history persevered nicely, relaxing place to explore on a lazy day with small kids, and there s a candy and I've cream store, yummy.
Oktober Fest was a wonderful and lovely event for families and friends!
The fair was awesome.the kids enjoy themselves as well as myself
Beautiful view of the past of how humans lived a century or 2 ago
great experience and our guides were very knowledgeable and patient with our large group of very inquisitive children!!
Historical place with homes and shops from 17 Century.
What a Horrible joke.Never again will I attend this trashy event. This whole fair was very poorly operated and very overpriced. The ride Operators look and act like they just got out of jail and not to mention the 40 minute wait to go on a ride. The food was just a total rip off and wasn't anything special. The people who take your money at the gate were as old and slow as Dinosaurs. But the worst part of it was the Trashy Staten Island crowd.
cute ice cream shop. Brought my gf here to propose and it was great :)))))
Great night in Richmond Town ate some of Langans Patties and Deputy Dogs listened to great music from the live band while drinking my favorites from Flagship
Fair was fantastic
Bought zeppolies at big truck, they were terrible. Very doughy and heavy, no refund
Small town that offers nothing, impossible to eat something, on a Friday, forget it.
I learned a lot from visiting the houses today and learning about all the crafts from the 1800s. It was raining hard when I visited but I was impressed with the enthusiasm of the volunteers who were dressed as craftsmen and artisans from the olden days. They were very knowleadgeable and they explained in detail how life was and how things were made in that period. I would recommend going here during the weekends when most of the old houses and shops are open. I would suggest joining their guided tours as well, they do 2 everyday (check out their website for details) to get the most out of the experience.
The bbq cookout was very nice good food and great atmosphere!
A very quaint, tranquil, small village in the middle of Staten island.(only when nothing is going on, other wise it is way too crowded). I sometimes go the Richmond town to get sone home made ice cream at Egger's I've cream shop. It is nice to have a seat at a ice cream shop and not eat the ice cream in a car with the family, Egger's had a nice picnic table area.
A historic place of Staten Island. Museums, events and fun and educational topics for kids. Worth a visit.
A great little piece of history located in Staten Island, easy enough to get to and sized right for a quick day trip. Worth the time and effort.
Wonderful Historic Site with multiple historic buildings to explore for a nominal admission feel. Guides are very knowledgeable about Historic Richmondtown. I recommend walking the trails in the nearby Greenbelt to get a sense of how the 18th and 19th century farming community used the local land.
Search for Howe's (Hessian) Spring behind St. Andrew's Church.
Search for Look Out Place at the top of Richmond Hill (the old Revolutionary War Fort)
It was really is inesting and leared lots of cool facts
Very nice town, with houses from the colonial era. It is worth signing up for guided tours to see some of the houses inside.
Very educational for a quick tour. Needs maintenance tho.
Great place to relax and step back in time. An oasis in the middle of Staten island.
Great as always, the Ladies Auxiliary club always cook up a wonderful meal at the Bennett Cafe!! missed you last night Rose
A wonderful place to learn about history or attend an outdoor event or just get some delicious eggers ice cream
For city people who have never seen anything like this before, it's very important. Especially kids! But if you already have some knowledge about early American times, you are not likely to learn anything or see anything special. Just my opinion. We were told the schoolhouse was the oldest in the USA. That was pretty cool.
Richmondtown gets better every year. I was born on Staten Island, so I've seen it grow. It's a walk through Staten Island history. There is a tour, but l got there too late, Will do next time. It's very interesting, a must see. Free parking. The tour is $8.00. There is also a gift shop...
As well as being a beautiful natural setting the town is the only truly historic village preserved in N.Y.C.Well worth the trip!
It was my first time here even though I've been living here for the past 10 years. My children were so happy and enjoyed so much. The food here was so good. It is hard to resist once you get the smell of it.. There were a lot of rides, games, icecream trucks where my friend was working.... it was just a wonderful day. I love Staten Island.
Pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Paul and Ian were excellent guides. They took us through the different homes and gave plenty of historical information regarding the homes and Staten Island. Also, the man working in the Tin Building was very knowledgeable and kind.
Can't give a 5 just because we got there after last tour left. However we were only there to see the Britton Cottage. This house was originally in New Dorp (a few miles away) and was in my wife's family for over 100 years. It will be going through renovations at this location. My wife was so excited to see it.
All the historic buildings are closed because they have not been restored yet. It looks like it will be quite some time before they will be restored. The ground around the houses has been torn up because of the construction and could be dangerous for anyone not able to walk without a sidewalk. The one building that is open is a store!! So you won't be able to see anything but you CAN buy something! AND they will be glad to take your money for a tour of closed houses. If you are thinking about a town like Williamsburg, Virginia, think more like buying a house out in the country that "needs a little work". Then you have a better idea of what to expect.
What a wonderful day at the spring fair in Richmondtown. There was a butterfly exhibit and other fun children activities.. So many events throughout the year to attend.
Went to Eggers for ice cream. A little orucy but well worth it. Great atmosphere, music and ice cream.
Great place to old building from earlier American colonies
I love richmondtown..been in love with it for almost 40 years now! !!
Went to Eggers. Very reasonable. Had sugar free vanilla very good
Very Interesting place. Historical artifacts and bldgs. Nice ice cream shop too.
Wonderful look into past SI history and up to Verrazzano Bridge construction.
Love the history. Good for the kids to see. Just get some ice cream and walk around.
This place is historically lovely; well kept, clean, and inviting. Going to church on Sunday is a pleasure in this historic area of Si. I truly miss all the history and sense of home living in this area. If you haven t visited them this is a must see.
Uncorked was excellent! Getting there early made a Big difference....
There s nothing like going back in time when visiting this place. If you enjoy Staten Island history then this place is for you.
