Unsuccessful wild goose chase trying to register for free summer classes.
Beautiful campus with excellent teachers. Work hard for the grades but play hard for your sanity, should be their motto.
During COVID, I returned to Hinds to simply increase my knowledge. It has not been to the standard that I knew when I attended Hinds 2014-2016. It has plummeted!
I was given the wrong books by the bookstore for my Summer 2021 classes and was CHARGED for them although every student was told that classes AND books were FREE (took 2 weeks to then get reimbursed).
This 2021-2022 school year has been even worse to where I am actively looking to finished my classes elsewhere. I was charged for books that I am not using yet Hinds will not give me back my money . YET AGAIN.
Even the classes that I am taking this semester, the professor (because it s one teacher for all 3 classes) isn t much help in it. The students are basically teaching themselves to zero help from the paid professional in the class. It s not to the standard that I knew Hinds at.
Also, Angela Easterwood (GM of the bookstore) talked to me as if I was some child and not a grown man. Attitude and scornful behavior should NEVER be tolerated, especially from a person that is employed by a committee college at any level.
Teachers and staff are amazing! The kids are mostly "Good Southern kids"; especially if you stay around with the right sort of people. Courses aren't too difficult, and not too easy. I would recommend joining the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa if you can as it helps financially with scholarships and with real valuable life experiences. It also looks good on a resume when applying for a 4-year school or a job.
Overall, becoming a student at Hinds Community College has been a great learning experience for me as I begin to understand the world around me.
I attend the Hinds in Raymond. It is a beautiful campus and the dorm I stayed in and the dorms I visited are very nice. The teachers that I had were wonderful and cared about my education deeply. I feel like I learned a lot from them. Hinds has great scholarship opportunities and many programs so that everyone can be involved in something. I hope the rest of my stay is as pleasant as my first year.
Wonderful family community. I taught here 23 years. Changing lives is what they do.
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AS ALWAYS. MEAT IS GREAT!
I would give this pathetic place 0 stars if I could. False advertisement about free school tuition. Employees in admissions are messy, scornful, and pitiful. They acted like they didn t know what they were doing.
