I have been staying at the Hilton Carlton for the last six months for work purposes and have found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and all services have been cleaned well and I feel safe. Sadly, due to Covid, it has not been possible to get dinner in the hotel and the breakfast menu has been curtailed. However, room service is available and is very good food. Otherwise, the hotel has allowed guests to eat "carryouts" in the hotel and has provided plates and cutlery to enable this. Well done to the hotel and all the staff, they have been great. Eric

What can I say, you can always rely on a Hilton if...

What can I say, you can always rely on a Hilton if you want a nice city stay and this is what this hotel provided. Located right in the centre of Edinburgh in the old town. It is right next to the train station so if you are travelling by train it is easily accessible. Whiskey shop next door if you like your whiskey like a proper highlander. Gift shops opposite. It is right next to the famous royal mile home to Edinburgh castle. Nice room very modern with new bathroom as you expect with Hilton. Sadly, parking was a bit of an issue because there is no hotel parking but you can park down by the train station and walk up. Still, great hotel and if you want to stay in Edinburgh this is the place to go.

Beautiful hotel, Girl on reception was very friendly, room was beautiful and very clean and well the comfiest bed I've ever slept in . I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Had the best experience staying at the hotel.
Location is perfect - close to the train station and many local attractions. I booked the Deluxe Twin Bed room, which was very spacious and it had the most amazing view from the 5th floor - I could see Holyrood Park, Calton Hill, Edinburgh Waverley Station, and the distant sea from my window. Bed & pillows were super comfortable, i had the best sleeps (super important to me as I am a light sleeper!). Can't comment if different types of room have different pillows - mine were amazing.
Staff at the reception were friendly and helpful with any queries. The room was also very clean. Daily housekeeping has to be requested from the reception due to Covid, which was not an issue.
Grateful also to the hotel staff for the lovely note and sweets for my birthday, which was just cherry on top. Happy to have turned 25 in this lovely city and hotel. Felt like I have released all the work stress that had accumulated during the past months working alone at home. Hope to be back to this hotel again :)

We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of the city.

We would wander the streets and enjoy the city, knowing it was easy to get back to the hotel as needed.

Great staff who make you welcome, wether at reception or going about thier duties in the hotel.

Not a wonderful experience, and Hilton's remote information service did not help. However, the visit was greatly enhanced by the pleasant nature, and helpful attitude, of the young lady working in the bar. Other Hilton staff could learn much from her.

Went for dinner, asked for bill for prepaid mail eight times as had to leave for a show and was rudely shouted at for not paying for a lemonade, before telling staff that we waited half an hour and we really had to go before they chased us back to pay for the one drink. Wouldn't recommend.

We went for a family day out and an overnight and to finish it off we booked breakfast,
They told us we had to book a slot for breakfast because of covid restrictions so we Booked for 9 am , we were given coffee when we first went in and then we sat and waited an hour , so I asked a member of the waiting staff , she rudely put her hand up to me to tell me she is busy and then walked on, something as a 55 year old women have never experienced such rude service in my life. I then spoke to the restaurant host , who told me they had overlooked our sheet and would have breakfast out in 5 mins , another guest then appeared and was served within 10 mins while we still sat waiting it
Was now 10.30am. We then decided to leave, without an apology from the restaurant or reception of the hotel.

I am not usually one to leave a review but honestly the service has been shocking.
*Still not been refunded for the breakfast*
