Hotel is centrally located on the beach/boardwalk. All rooms have gorgeous views. That said, this is a higher priced hotel on the beach and yet the room and service is bare minimum. We were unable to access our room until about 4:45pm (checking time was 4pm). The pillows and linens are sub-par. The AC did not work well despite being checked, our room service was poor - short sheeted bed, no coffee replacement after first night, etc. when we explained these things to the front desk we received blank stares and an explanation that they do not work in housekeeping... all of this being said, the staff was friendly and we enjoyed being on the beach. Just wish we were getting greater value for our money in the way of better facilities and customer service.

BEWARE! Before you book your room just know that they are refusing to clean your rooms during your stay! What a joke! They should be keeping then extra clean!! and they will ask you to bring your own towels!!! Sounds like an excuse to save money on much needed housecleaning!

Oh and they don't bother to list this on their website but will call you right after the cut off for cancelation. I will be getting my money back.... just imagine what else they aren't cleaning.
Ridiculous

Dirty hotel...no thanks!

If I could give a 1 1/2 star, I would, this hotel is terrible if you drive for 6 hours in the car with a grumpy 2 year old. We got there a little early at 3:50 and was told to wait for our room, so we did, and 4:00 came rolling around, and our room still wasn't ready. It took them an extra 15 minutes until the hotel was ready, and by then, the baby was screaming and throwing tantrums because she needed a nap, and refuses to sleep in the car. Once we finally got in and slept for the night, we woke up and went to the beach for a good 3 hours, and it was about 12:30 pm by the time we finished, and our beds hadn't been made, no room service had been done. The only thing saving this review from a 0 star rating, is the food. The food was delicious, although our waiter for lunch was slow, our waitress for dinner was amazing, very sweet and fast, her name was Sara, please give this girl a raise as soon as you can. She was so nice to us, and made sure we liked everything we got, and made sure to get it as quick as she could.

Kind of a mixed bag with this hotel. Cleanliness and Service were all top notch (this is an almost new hotel-built in 2014). Pool (which is indoor and outdoor was nice-though kind of small. And why on earth they have the pool jutting out to the street side instead of the ocean, is downright moronic design. Location, toward the north end of the Boardwalk, is perfect-close enough to the action but away from the drunk kids. Value is the issue here. Yes, we had an oceanfront room booked peak season, so I wasn't expecting a bargain. But at $350 per night, I was disappointed at the cramped rooms--and especially the tiny (and I mean TINY) balcony that could only really fit one adult and maybe two kids. In other words, one of the major selling features for this hotel looking out over the ocean was lost as there wasn't enough room to actually enjoy the view from the balcony. As a result, one of the prime selling features when we booked the room (i.e. Ocean View) was lost. I was looking forward to sitting out with my wife and a drink and watch the ocean. No such luck. If I go back to V. Beach, I'll look for a hotel in the same general area with bigger balconies.

This was a terrible way to spend a honeymoon. The hotel took what was meant to be a special honeymoon weekend and completely ruined it. To start, they told us that they moved us to an "upgraded suite" because it was our honeymoon. This "upgraded suite" had a balcony that was right up against the wall of another hotel, so we didn't even get a full view of the beach. It is also not optimal to spend your time on a balcony with a direct view into someone else's room. Also, for a "suite," the room was not that nice. The amenities seemed poor or outdated (low shower pressure, old TV, musty smell, small balcony, poor sliding door, etc.). The bed was also terribly uncomfortable with pillows that felt like they were wrapped in a mixture of paper and plastic leading to no head support and a constant crinkling sound throughout the night. Needless to say, the time in the room was less than optimal, which is kind of what you pay for when you book a hotel. Moving out of the room, the hotel pool was also one of the few on Atlantic Avenue that isn't facing the beach. Instead, you spend your time in the pool looking at traffic on the road that passes in front of the hotel. The best part of this hotel was actually the Lager Heads restaurant and bar in the lobby which had incredible food and great service, though you could have just gone to this as a normal beach patron. If your visit is about the beach and local attractions, then you can just as easily stay a block or two off the beach, or at many other hotels on the beach, with the same access, a fraction of the cost, and likely the same room quality. Having compared prices up front, and now having spent time walking up and down the beach seeing the other options in person, I highly recommend choosing one of the many other hotels on the beach. I write all of this with no intentions of being overly harsh or negative. The beach and surrounding areas are beautiful. Instead, I want to make sure that when people spend their hard earned money for that once in a lifetime beachfront getaway, they are not sorely disappointed with no chance of remaking their memory.

Very nice location, staff is very accommodating. Room is clean and view is great, love the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing into the beach. Would definitely consider staying here again.

This is a typical inn, the room was clean and there was a beautiful view from the balcony. It has a step up from the usual free breakfasts with different hot items every day.
Everyone was very polite, friendly and helpful. This place is at the North end of Virginia Beach and has an upscale feel away from the seedy looking area on the south end. It is close to the Neptune statue and free entertainment area, but far enough away that the partying is not an issue.

BEWARE, families with small children and babies. The restaurant adjoined to this hotel has very loud live music going on late into the night. We thought this was a family friendly place. We are on the 10th floor it sounds like there is a concert going on right outside our balcony door. There is no reason to have the amp up so high. This establishment has no concern for their guests. We were told nothing could be done about it. We were also told this goes on every night during the summer. For $350 plus/ night, you're much better off staying somewhere else that values their guests enough to ensure they get a peaceful night s sleep.

*Rating based on Va Beach, not all hotels as very expensive for what you could get elsewhere but in line with Va Beach pricing which is all over priced.

Very nice hotel with clean rooms, solid breakfast (for Gold and Diamond members), free beach chairs, a fun pool, and one of the better ocean front restaurants in that area. The hotel is relatively new (5 or so years old) so will be curious how it holds up, but a great experience relative to other Va Beach hotels. Staff has universally been great on 3 visits

Great place. Super nice people. Only issue we had, they did not inform us that they were not not going to come into our room or give us clean bath towels everyday unless we ask because of Covid. Understand them not coming into room. Just we were not informed there would not be clean towels or trash taken out unless we put them outside our door.

I love this hotel but this visit wasn't so great. The sink in the room was clogged and the front desk person said someone would come and fix it. No one came. It was horrible trying to wash our hands or brush our teeth. We had to use the shower. When I checked out, the front desk person still wasn't enthusiastic about my inconvenience. I also left my jacket in the closet and the SAME unenthusiastic front desk person transferred me to housekeeping. The good at Lager's was great. The staff in the restaurant was amazing. Dennis at the front door was phenomenal! His customer service skills were the best. Maybe he should train the uninterested front desk person without a name tag..... I will request someone from management when I get back tomorrow to retrieve my jacket.

Worst check-in I ve ever experienced. Made everyone wait until 4:00 to start and then an hour long line ensued. Some rooms weren t even ready! Don t accept reservations if you don t have rooms!!!

The room itself smells smoky. View is good. Lobby is clean. But the front desk experience was awful, awful, awful. I m afraid to even ask for towels because people say they yell at you.

The worst stay ever!!! I reserved a room here for my birthday back in August, I reserved the room for 4 days. The money for the room was withdrawn from my account for the stay. The manager there CARTER told us to leave the hotel because he stated that we only paid for one night; I showed him where they withdrew the money and he also heard one of the associates from the bank tell him that a transaction was withdrawn from Hilton Garden Inn, but he still told us to leave. To add insult to injury, he called the POLICE on us FOR NO REASON!!! We didn't get loud with him, we didn't curse him out, and we didn't threatened him, WE DID NOT DO NOTHING to derserve to be treated the way we did. He humiliated us in front of everyone. I ended up having a bad anxiety attack and had to go to the hospital to get treated. He had ruined everything for me, and I will never forget this terrible experience.

I thought my trip was destined to be horrible after the awful experiences I had in the airport on my way to Virginia Beach. This thought disappeared however upon checking in to the Hilton. The views are amazing and the staff makes you feel right at home. Two staff members in particular, Mike and Mason, were especially amazing. I could tell from our first interaction that they took extreme pride in their professions and wanted my stay to be as perfect as possible. As a result of its fantastic staff, amazing views, and exceptional rooms I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I can not wait until my next stay here and hope anyone who reads this review considers staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

They were ok. Have stayed there twice for a convention. Breakfast is a little pricey considering I have stayed at other hotels and that same breakfast was complimentary. And watch your Bank account when they "hold" for incidentals. They will hold your account for twice the amount they claim and then say they can't do anything about it. Usually we stick to Holiday Inns, just as nice without all the money hassles, but had no choice since this was for a convention.
