Fabulous hotel, helpful friendly staff. We had an upgrade to executive room, amazing room, with views to match. 3 course dinner was excellent. Highly recommend.

Quiet, Friendly, very clean, and up to date decor, hotel and restaurant. Very nice food, good breakfast. Not the cheapest place around but recommended as good quality. Small swimming Pool. Parking up narrow quite steep drive. Staff lovely.

On arrival staff friendly and attentive. Cream tea served in lounge affording fabulous view of surrounding countryside. Evening three course meal well cooked with generous portions. Well appointed room with large en suite. Breakfast served with great efficiency and friendly attitude. Could not fault hotel, location or staff.

Perfect for Windermere, just 5 minutes walk. Lovely staff and really really impressive food. The hotel is modern and clean. It's the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Was here for our honeymoon and they upgraded our room for us which was lovely.

Just had a four day break here and had a wonderful time, great location with great views, very clean, great facilities, food I can't praise enough first class all the way, staff in the restaurant excellent,very friendly and professional in every way, would certainly recommend it.

To start...what an amazing view, couldn't be in a better plot. Hotel is clean, well staffed and very friendly. Food is devine. Really pleased to be here for our honeymoon.

Spent today having a swim and high tea, very friendly staff, good food and wonderful views, only complaint, as we are elderly it would have helped had there been grab bars at the pool, we found it quite difficult getting in and out of pool, but that will not deter us from visiting again,

Very pleasant and clean, tidy, with suitable decoration. Hotel walking distance away from town but can be steep in places. Best part of the hotel is the staff always courteous accommodating and professional with a sense of humour. Food 5* quality, well presented and delicious - would definitely recommend

I think this is the best hotel in Windermere! The service is great! The rooms are fabulous and comfortable. We had the occasion room called Wordsworth (I think) and it has a beautiful terrace overlooking the hilltops. Booked this for my birthday and I m so glad I did!! Don t worry about the price! Just book and it won t disappoint

Brilliant hotel! Insanely good for value, room included free bottle of wine, 3 course meal and breakfast which were all fantastic! Location is brilliant, only 3 minute drive from the lakes and local shops. It's also located on a hill which gives a great view of the surrounding area! Would highly recommend, and will happily be going back in the future.

I booked a room at the at the hilthwaite for the night before my wedding, the room was absolutely stunning, the view was amazing, so clean and decor was amazing, when I turned up at reception on my own holding a huge wedding dress, handbag, suitcase and hold bag, not one of the reception staff asked me if I would like a hand carrying anything to my room especially because it was up the stairs, I really struggled but apart from that my experience was very relaxing in a beautiful hotel

Had been given a present of Gentleman's Afternoon Tea at Hillthwaite. The offer also included use of the swimming pool and sauna, so we passed a very lovely afternoon relaxing here.

The decor in the hotel is beautiful. Luxurious, tasteful and calming. The afternoon tea was extremely generous and to be honest we couldn't finish it all. It was a miserable Lakeland day outside, so we sat and relaxed in the lounge with a roaring log burner. There was no pressure on us to move on. The staff were lovely and friendly and offered good service when you could find them but my only criticism was that they seemed to be overstretched, probably could've done with one more person on waiting.

I keep coming back to this hotel because nothing is to much trouble for the staff they are so proud of there standards and service and I shows it takes quality of service, food and standards to a whole different level the attention to detail which is very hard to find in the UK thank so so much for making my stay a place that is a true hidden gem and secret that I don't really want to share because I want to keep it to myself :-) but then again if the world does not know just how good you are you would not remain my favourite hotel in the north of Engalnd and be assured I should know. 5 STAR PLUS ******

Nice enough place set in between the towns of Windermere and Bowness.
Hotel is tidy with a nice view of Lake Windermere from the outside balcony area.
Room was very small as was the bed but we got by fine.
Food and drink were quite pricey but in fairness so is probably most places around the area. Enjoyed the breakfast both Days but wasn't too impressed with the evening meal.
That said the service was very good and all things considered I would go back here.

The waiters were very kind and attentive, the rooms were elegant and comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was delicious and refined. Breakfast is a semi-buffet, and the main course is delicious and delicious.

I live local down at newby bridge and my 5 year old son goes to school in Windermere every day I have give this 5 stars because of the honesty of the place such a down to earth place and lovely views right next to lake you know there is other places were you can go with helecopter pads or pulling up in a big yacht but all you need is you and your new wife or husband that's what it's about a lovely country pub next to the lake and just chill all the best Graham newby bridge .

Rated at three stars we weren't expecting this place to be anywhere as nice as it was, but it is absolutely lovely. The decor, rooms, the staff and the facilities offered make this closer to a 5 star retreat. The only side where this place was off the mark slightly was the evening food. While the meals were nice, I had a couple of dishes that I feel could have just been slightly better, and even then I think it was down to texture combinations and seasoning issues. All aside, the accommodation was perfect!

Lovely cosy warm and friendly hotel . Food was delicious with a wide varied menu. The only down side was its a hell of a track up to the hotel without transport ..

Another great stay at Hillthwaite. Upgraded room was great - hope to have that room again when it is warm and we can sit out on the balcony. Actually had a bath and watched the TV in the barhroom while relaxing!
Our 3 course meal was fabulous! As a vegetarian I find that my options are always limited, but all 3 courses were stunning. Sadly, breakfast wasn't as good as dinner, but there were plenty of options and my husband loves the locally produced meat sausages.
Lovely hotel with a pool and spa area too.

My experience of this place was poor. Had to wait for over 10 mins for check in as reception was left on unattended. The worse part of my stay was at restaurant, staff were not friendly and tone of voice was very harsh. We felt we were treated differently from everyone else in a bad way. To anyone who is staying here to make sure you bring your wallet with you when dine as you will have to pay first and won t allowed to add the bill to your room. Not recommended and definitely won t return.

The whole stay was excellent. From a lovely welcome in reception to the fantastic service and meal in the restaurant. Richard in particular was excellent, although it seems a little mean singling out just one person as the whole team that we came across were great.

Fantastic hotel with great facilities. Food is of an excellent standard and service is as you would expect from a quality hotel. Rooms are large and well equipped for a week long stay. Location is perfect to use as a base to travel around all the lakes.

An absolute pleasure to have stayed here. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the food was fantastic and the spa facilities were just right. Leaving feeling very relaxed, will be coming back

Very friendly staff, clean comfortable room. Lovely food great place to celebrate my 70th birthday. Wonderful views, lovely little villages, boat rides were really good.

We stayed for 3 nights - from the friendliness of reception when I phoned to the exceptional quality of food and service, it has been an amazing experience. The team accommodated guests that we invited for dinner and were well informed on dietary options. Their COVID 19 protocols are excellent - wear masks in common areas, marked out 2 metre distancing, tables well placed, booking time slots for meals, order dinner menu in advance, sanitisers in all the right places. We would highly recommend the dinner, bed and breakfast.

The Hillthwaite Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. It is just on the hillside of Lake Windermere. From the balcony you can see for miles. It s total heaven, even on a rainy day you can wind away the hours reading a paper and watching the weather pass on by.
I have been going since I was a child and now we ve bought my son a voucher for the Fireside and Fells stay, for his 30th Birthday.
This is luxury at its best. The hotel had a refurbish at the end of last year, this can only add to the lush feeling you are given.
Treat yourself, you are totally worth it. Then tell all your friends, envy will be all over their faces.

The room was fabulous. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Really lovely experience here when we stopped for our anniversary weekend.
Rating should really be 4.5 but google doesn t give that option.
The only thing that detracted for us a bit was the state of the mattress, it was very saggy. For some this is great but we found it affected our nights sleep.
The bathroom in the occasion suite was spectacular.
The views are perfect, whatever the weather. Our experience was torrential rain, which was fine as it was a perfect excuse to chill out indoors.
Will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous location. Warm and welcoming with attrative decor and a comfortable setting. Room was excellent with a lake view and all amenities including iron and ironing board, coffee and tea making facilities and hairdryer. A comfortable restaurant serves delicious food and offers a good selection of wines. The menu can be found on the hotel website. The staff are outstanding and nothing is to much trouble for them, you are always welcomed with a smile and made to feel a valued customer. My wife and I like this hotel and all it offers plus it is in a beautiful setting. We will go back again.

Lovely service and setting, although i would hsve prefered a window table to look at the stunning views more as nobody was sat at those! Afternoon tea was nice cakes were beautiful but sandwiches were not to my taste and very few compared to other places would go back again but would book a window table and request my taste in sandwiches

Amazing! We go a lot for meals and the staff are always accommodating, a lady with dark hair remembered us and came over to speak even though she wasn t waiting on our table and Shimmy made me laugh out loud a lot and made excellent drinks I can t recommend the food enough here, Been coming here for 11 years now

Didn't love the food. Meat was overcooked, the beef stew wasn't tender but quite dry. The cheese and ale soup was really bland and it looked powdery. The staff were really nice though

Nice hotel in a great location on the outskirts of Bowness. Beautiful views over the lake. The common areas are really well furnished in a contemporary style. Small bar but plenty of room to sit & chill. The pool is a very pleasant option for healthy downtime.
The staff are great & enormously helpful. Only criticism would be a lack of attention to detail in a few operational areas.

Just on our way back to this fabulous hotel for one night only! This is the third time we've been and it won't be the last. It has the most beautiful views, fantastic beds and the food is exceptional. Never been to the Lakes until last year and have regretted that I waited so long to see it. Hillthwaite is outstanding and deserves to thrive. Just go see it and experience the service you receive. I feel special and relaxed when we visit here. Well done the hotel team.

We had use of the pool and then afternoon tea they was 4 of us and we all really enjoyed it and the staff were very helpful.

Stayed for 1 night. Lovely room (no.11) great views and all recently redocorated by looks if it. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and staff all very good. Bonys to have a small swimming pool. Sauna and steam room. Good location. Would recommend.

Staff were just rude, the room was left with dirty sheets and the food was just ok. Wouldn t visit again n not worth the money

Fantastic hotel, with friendly welcoming staff that can't do enough for you. Rooms are spotless, modern with upto date decor, the breakfast and service is superb.
The views from the hotel are stunning. We can't wait to return later in the year.
