I don t know.... giving a 1 Star for this school ...

I don t know.... giving a 1 Star for this school is sound bad but giving it a 1 Star is based on my first time call, my first experience when I called this school someone by the name of Sara answered the phone. However, I asked about the requirements for UC Irvine Medical School. In addition, I already have BA degree. However, I was shock because she seems very depressed, sounded very nasty, and was unprofessional. I was very discouraged talking to her, I wish there was someone professional; mature it would have been much better. Anyhow, if you like to know how she answers my question that shocked me was just go to our website and it will answer all your questions, and I m sorry I can t counsel you for an hour just go on the website. She also added that there are many applications, we don t take all the applications, I was more shocked at her negative answer, and just asked her name and I hang up .
My word of advice for this school is (please do not let someone unprofessional, and tired to answer the phone/ presenting you school and after all, you are a Medical school not a day care. Thank you.
Regards, Mrs. H Ferguson

As a full-time student and part-time worker, I recommend this University for any resident in Orange County or Los Angeles. The campus is great for commuting, as long as you avoid rush hour. It also is very peaceful which is optimal for a study environment. The professors in the School of Social Sciences are intelligent, passionate about their disciplines, and helpful. I am glad I cam where after community college. Zot! Zot!

Recently, a young Vietnamese female scientist has successfully invented a super-large, lifelong battery.
A surprisingly unexpected accident has helped researchers successfully create ultra-durable lithium batteries, which perform well up to 400 times the current batteries.
The batteries can be used for a long time and almost never run out of energy. However, they still need to be recharged and are made of "super-thin" nanofibers so Lithium batteries can be charged up to 200,000 times.
The invention of this breakthrough technology also helps extend the battery life of devices such as phones, computers, cars, and even spacecraft.
Vietnamese wisdom and inventions "utopian"
The creator of this feat is the female Vietnamese PhD student, Mya Le Thai, who is the leader of the research team at University of California, Irvine (UCI).
For a long time, researchers of lithium-ion batteries are usually made of nanofibers but because nanofibers are extremely thin (even thinner than human hair) and are not suitable for use in charging. and discharge the battery repeatedly.
Further links between the nanofibers often swells, brittle and cracking.
UCI researchers have "embarked" to solve this problem by coating a nanowire from a yellow molecule with a shell of manganese dioxide.
Then, immerse them in the electrolyte made of Plexiglass gel to make the nanofibers more stable.
According to an UCI researcher, Reginald Penner said: "We started testing the battery cycles of devices and realized they were not lost."

But when the experts in the research team of Vietnamese-born engineer Mya Le Thai began experimenting with gold nanowires embedded in Plexiglass electric gel, they discovered that the battery's system was extremely resilient.
In particular, the batteries "metastable" is more resilient than any other battery systems.
Penner added that even when Mya Le Thai tested this new nanofiber structure hundreds of thousands of times without being pinned. Meanwhile, the types of fibers that previously charged only about 6000-7000 times were destroyed.
This "micro magic" battery test showed that the new system could withstand 200,000 charges for more than three months and lost only 5% of its capacity.
The "millennium" Lithium battery research project of Mya Le Thai has been recognized and granted patents by the American Chemical Association on April 21, 2016.

Some information about young female scientist
Mya Le Thai research on nanotechnology in a bachelor program at UCLA. She was the assistant professor at UCI for more than 2 years.
In 2015, she went to Washington D.C. Working at the US Department of Energy's Pioneer Energy Research Center, before returning to UCI, she undertook some organizational work for the nanotechnology research departments for the university.
Currently, Mya Le Thai is pursuing the Ph.D. program at UCI, majoring in chemistry.

Over the last 11 years, Irvine residents have seen UCI become a world-class university! Whereas the national rankings are a strong measure of how good UC Irvine is, the real measure is the overall quality of life that students enjoy while going to UCI. One side effect of the tremendous growth is constant construction going on in different parts of the campus. The good news is that most of the major buildings are already built. UCI is no longer a safety school for prospective undergraduate students; rather, it s a top school that is sought after among the UC s. Welcome to UCI, the new number 1 choice for California students.

This place is a JOKE!!!! The only difference between this place a hell hole is... the ac works. How do you NOT know where a patient is? And why are people lined up like a heard of cows waiting to be slaughtered in a hallway? Also when deciding to go into a profession where you want to help people (NOT only focus on a paycheck) understand that there are going to be MANY different personalities.. we are NOT here just because we had nothing better to do. We are here because something is wrong.

My experience is as a parent of a grad-student, and for that I am grateful. I'm embarrassed for the simple-minded dolts who have displayed their ignorance so publicly by commenting erroneously on a situation they clearly haven't bothered to investigate. Thankfully, it appears none of these misfortunate individuals have ever attended this--or, based on their misuse of language and numerous spelling errors, likely any school past fifth grade. (Our grad-student son is from a long line of career military members.)

I graduated this school in 2015 so I've been here for four years. Let me say that this school is boring! It's a computer school so expect the campus to be dead during weekends. In addition if you want to have fun, you gotta drive somewhere else cause there's nothing to do in Irvine. In addition, Irvine is the safest city in the world so don't worry.

Some of these reviews are completely idiotic and uninformed. The flag ban (in only one room out of the entire school) was legislated by 6 student body individuals/22000 or so students, most of the 22000 whom were not even aware of it until the schools' name started to be dragged in the mud by the media. Many outraged students after finding out, rallied to overturn the stupid "flag ban", and it was because of their pressure, effort, obvious pride for their country, and outrage of being misrepresented by 6 students.

I am currently an incoming student at the graduate...

I am currently an incoming student at the graduate level at UC Irvine, set to commence my academic journey in Fall 2016. While I haven't thus far engaged in the full collegiate experience that would be common among the students attending (or that have attended) this university, I can comment on a few important points regarding my initial perceptions of this school, which may prove beneficial to any and all who are thinking about going here.

First and foremost, I LOVE how clean the area is, along with the suburban setting (the two neatly go hand in hand). I have spent the entirety of my life up to this point living in Long Beach; seldom does this city ever have the cleanest air and the fewest environmental hazards to worry about. Being in Irvine, I notice so many more green spaces, and somehow, I sense the air is cleaner. In fact, the campus is so lush with a copious amount of vegetation and trees. UCI is additionally the only campus in the U.S with an actual park on campus; there, students can relax peacefully in nature. Oh, did I mention that UC Irvine received the award for having the most sustainable campus in the U.S for the second straight year in a row? Quite a remarkable achievement.

I should mention though that with a suburban setting, there is a greater chance to encounter wildlife (some more dangerous than others). I even heard a story of a group of UCI students that ran into a coyote on their way from class. So be prepared if you wander about at or near campus at later times.

Second, there is a great sense of community with no shortage of friendly people. Yes, I have been to UCI only around 5 times thus far; yet every time I go, I am greeted by many of the students and professors with extreme curtesy and kindness. Based on this observation alone, I almost wonder whether or not an environmentally cleaner area correlates with more positive behavior. Hmm, something to think about..

Finally, there are the opportunities outside of class (aka: location, location, location). The nearest beach is only a couple of miles away, the University Town Center (which acts as a hybrid between a casual outdoor mall and a good number of eateries and grocery stores) is accessible by bridge on campus, and fashion island is relatively close. Generally, all of what a casual student would want.

I have only begun to list a few of the great things about UC Irvine, and something tells me that my adventure ahead will prompt me to report many more hidden secrets. In summary, UCI is filled with aspired intellectuals and students who want to contribute to an ideal greater than themselves; the location is attractive; the environment is clean; and the outside "free time" opportunities are wonderful. For a university that is only 51 years of age this year, we've come a long way, and the future appears even brighter. Zot Zot Zot!

Top notch public medical school, consistently ranked amongst the top 50 in the US, will only go higher as their funding research increases.

Leading medical education as the first class in the country to have their entire digital curriculum on an iPad.

Good value & great location - hard to beat!

(Anyone not familiar with the situation at hand, just do some googling of these terms: UC Irvine College Republicans; Milo Yiannopoulos)

For an institution that presents itself as a center of learning and academic rigor, it is remarkably intolerant of views that differ from those held by the administration. Instead of fostering an environment where respectful debate can flourish, the administration has chosen the path of censorship. Student organizations which hold the wrong opinions are being hamstrung and silenced in direct retaliation for having been a little too successful in making their voices heard in the past.

Meaningful education cannot be achieved from within an ideological echo chamber. There was a time when universities sought to give their students the tools to form intellectually honest opinions based on reason, evidence, and the diversity of views to be found in an open marketplace of ideas. It unfortunately appears that UCI has rejected that philosophy and now pursues a policy of indoctrination as opposed to education. Being exposed to ideas which challenge one s worldview is an indispensable part of the development and maturation of young minds, and when an administration makes the choice to censor views they find uncomfortable, they do a disservice to all the students in their care.

Regardless of one s political leanings, the cowardly and vindictive way that the UCI administration has handled this situation should shock the conscience of anyone concerned with responsible education and honest political discourse. Anyone looking for a university committed to the ideals of reason, free speech, and intellectual courage should look elsewhere.

I am very unsatisfied with how UC Irvine has made use of my tuition. My tuition was used to fund their police department, which seems to be extraordinarily mismanaged.

Officer Julie Huynh and Sergeant Jon Sloan conspired to commit fraud in order to falsely incriminate me. Officer Huynh made fraudulent statements in a document that was used to hold me, against my will, for 72 hours. Lieutenant Hallinan confirmed, via email, that the statements made by Officer Huynh in that document were fraudulent. Written testimony from investigators at UC Irvine further confirmed that Officer Huynh did indeed commit fraud.

To see documentation and analysis evidencing the above, please see my Twitter profile: twitter . com/Sebastian_B_D

A terrible school over run with racist zionists. For four straight days this past May, a group of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers called Reservists On Duty harassed UCI students who were displaying a Mock Wall to educate their campus about Israel s concerted violations of international law and Palestinian human rights. The soldiers surveilled, disrupted, and physically assaulted Palestinian students, along with their Latinx, Black, Native and Jewish allies. This occurred in full view of UCI administrators, who refused to intervene.

Rather than protect us from harassment by foreign military agents, UCI is investigating students for disruption because of chanting in reaction to a physical assault on the students during the Q&A session of an event with the soldiers. This just blames the victim and abandons vulnerable students, many of whom have experienced discrimination and brutality at the hands of the same military, explained Forest Agostinelli, a student who participated in the events. The administration failed the students at every turn.

Great and clean University. Not confusing at all to find classes because it's literally like a circle so you will end up finding the correct building eventually. Also in the middle is Aldrich park which is really nice place to just hang out. There are also a lot of water fountains to fill up water bottles with.

Con: it's not that big, so it might get boring fast.

Also known as "Ir-FINE", because of the beautiful ladies. Yes, I am talking about you. So can get all giggly and tell your friends. I highly recommend visiting UCI if this is your first time in Irvine. You experience a great view only second to UCLA.

Before a start my review, I like to address the bad reviews. I understand that everyone has a right to their opinion, but come on! Without looking at the reviews, I can bet 100% of the bad reviews are from people living in LA. Don't hate on Irvine. Just because we like clean air and 4 lane roads with no traffic. I do feel sorry for you. I'm sorry you have no night life. You do not need to pretend that your life is something out of an MTV show. The people make the party not the location. Even LA Lakers Kobe would not live in LA! He lives in Newport Beach aka Irvine 2.0 or Irvine's beach. Just understand that there's a reason we live in Irvine and you live in LA. A lot of South OC people would not be caught dead (or found dead) traveling north of Tustin.

Here is my unbiased review. Growing up in Nor Cal, I did not know much about Irvine. After college, I lived in the IE, LA, and OC but fell in love with Irvine. I DO! And I hope I can live here until death do we part. The sunny weather is beautiful! From my office window I can see picture perfect landscapes of unreal looking blue skies with hardly any clouds. The temperature stays in the 70s almost year round. A 100 degree day in Irvine is uncommon.

Everything is CLEAN!! I did not realize how clean Irvine is until I went to visit my friend in LA. The roads are clean with very few or no pot holes. Nice wide freeway and streets. The bathrooms at the Mall are incredibility clean! No papers on the floor or pee everywhere. I once used a bathroom at Arcadia Mall and I thought I was going puke because it was the exact opposite. Every car you see is clean and looks like it just came out of a car wash. The cars are in good shape without anybody damage, maybe because drivers here with drive with care and not like maniacs in a hurry to get to their minimum wage jobs. Even the plants are clean and we kept. They are not brown and dying.

Irvine is a great suburb atmosphere. With a great education system and beautiful parks this is a great place to raise children. It is safe and people are friendly with soccer moms and trophy housewives galore. Compared to 10 years ago, Irvine is more diverse so you will get to experience a lot of cultural food. It s hard to truly understand life in Irvine until you live here. So come visit!

i find it pretty amusing that recently people have been posting 1 star reviews because they claim UCI is anti american.

their logic: 6 students vote to ban display of flag (which btw the school vetoed)... therefore, the entire school is anti-american and un appreciative of troops.

Yes, there will always be some students who think of themselves as radical and will do pretty dumb things, but there are those students at every school. however that in no way reflects the quality of education and overall environment of the school.

I dont agree with the students who voted to take down the flag, but i very much disagree with the people who critisize the school as a whole because of six students. This grossly underminds the diverse student body at the school.

UCI is an amazing school that, in its short years, has grown tremedously. I am proud to call myself an anteater, and a student of the school. There is alot more to the school then 6 people and you really shouldn't listen to those who say that there isn't, that the goodness of the school is determined by the few.. its not.

Can't understand why it is taking so long for the FDA to give their approval for the University Of California Irvine to get under way with the work they want to perform on people with RP or Retinitis Pigmentosa. At 1st we were waiting on the funds now that the school has the funds we are waiting on the FDA, we have been waiting for over 2 years this is very frustrating. We aren't even being kept up on with this might turn into a possibility. We have been dreaming for many many years for an opportunity that might husband just might be able to see now that we've been given a chance for a dream to possibility come true we're still having to wait. My husband has missed out on his entire life since this dreaded disease has taken his eyesight slowly for all of his life. It was discovered around 5 years of age he was having difficulty with his eyesight but there was not even a name given to it yet. He has lost out on doing all the things a child does, a teenager, a young adult, a young married adult, a middle aged adult & now and older gent. None of this is fair in my eyes, I'm his wife of 41 years now & even though I have my eyes it's like being in a prison, because I've never been able to enjoy him & myselves life because of this horrible disease. We are childless because of this disease neither one of us wanted to bring a blind child into the world, it's hard enough with a blind husband. Please FDA at least I'd like to spend the later years with my seeing husband if this is possible. We've heard in Europe this same research has been done on people with the same disease for a man who was almost totally blind now able to drive with 20-40 vision. So FDA you see this is extremely hard to sit this out I'm in my 60's now and my husband in his 70's please let us enjoy each other in our old age we did the best we could until now. Now there's is a chance and you know what they say when you get older you lose all your patience. I give the school 5 stars for their effort they are making to do this research, I give the FDA no stars for dragging their feet.

(Review based on experiences from about decade ago) Good, affordable education. Depending on your program, class sizes could get quite large and students may receive little support from professors. Professors have a lot of amazing research going on, so great for research opportunities. Students were overall quite friendly, good atmosphere, though somewhat lacking in diversity -- at the time I attended, middle/upper class Asian Americans were a large majority of the student population. Overall beautiful campus. Peaceful and safe place, though living in the city of Irvine can be quite expensive for a student.

Anti free speech, anti gay bigoted college. Suppressing free speech of college republicans (suspending them for A YEAR) and not allowing them to host anything until the spring of 2017 - All for alerting the administration that they'd like to have added security for a speakers event. Your bigotry and hate for anything you disagree with is clear.

Though you've shut down any reviews on Facebook since doing so, folks including myself will do all we can to spread the news of the joke that this campus has become everywhere that we can. Not even a republican and I'm repulsed by this behavior at an educational facility.
