I wish I could go back 10 years and tell myself not to buy that Power Pet dog door even though your wife thinks it's so cool. I have easily spent over $2000 with this company over these 10 years and has been very frustrating to say the least.
Our first Power Pet door in our former home was constantly breaking. The only redeeming aspect is that they did send me free replacement parts on a couple occasions.
When we moved into our current home I wanted to switch companies/ products but my wife and I knew this company made a containment fence. We thought we'd be optimistic and give it a shot since their Blue Fang product would run both the door and fence. The new door actually has worked decently well but the collars eat batteries (which, like other reviews here have stated, are extremely expensive) like mad and the associated app is HORRIBLE!!!! The app adds new dog profiles out of the blue and won't switch between dogs quickly. A collar that we bought just weeks ago stopped making noise so we can't use the tones. I could go on about how frustrated we are but let's just suffice to say I'm incredibly disappointed.
If you're considering buying any High Tech Pet product I would caution you because like I said in the beginning of my post I wish I had never bought any of their products. Unfortunately, I'm in too deep with this company and don't want to replace the door but I HATE the collars and app!
Response to HTP's response:
I've been wrestling with this issue in my head for many days but after rereading their last response to me I've decided to go ahead and make an update. Below you will find my email reply to HTP's offer (that I had refrained from posting here until now).
Yes, I did receive the collar about 2 weeks ago and have been using it. I do like the charge life of the collar but was disappointed that no documentation/ user manual was included with the package. I haven't taken the time to go to blue fang/ high tech pet websites to investigate the features of the collar yet but need to as the collar beeps with the containment fence but doesn't deliver any stimulus (I checked it using my hand).
To be perfectly honest, one replacement collar isn't quite the incentive to change my review given that I actually have 2 dead blue fang collars in my possession that need to be replaced (under a year since purchase and they simply quit working) and I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with your company over the past several years. If you can, please fact check me on this because I would love you to know just how many doors, collars and batteries I have bought. As I mentioned earlier, I have 5 dogs and if your company really wants me to revise my rating I'll send you back my collection of dead collars (both blue fang and older ones that I haven't thrown away) and you can send me an additional 4 collars.
I am willing to revise my review but need to feel like High Tech Pet truly wants to earn it and not simply placate me.
So HTP, please tell me, on which part of our "deal" did I reneg? I am not satisfied with the outcome and therefore do not feel that I should change my rating simply because you sent me one collar and a few emails. What's more is that I'm shocked that a company would try to make a lame attempt at shaming a customer when my review seems to be in good company (see attached screenshot of the Consumer Affairs rating). My goal in all of this is to give potential customers a realistic picture of this company and products. The products work but buyers need to be aware of the potential pitfalls. I'm truly not trying to get free collars - just simply get what I paid for. I'll return the RX-10 to you if you like because I don't want the world thinking I reneged on a deal. I simply want the world to be wary about doing business with HTP.
