Don't miss the IMPROV GROUP this weekend (Oct. 5 and 6) at HCT...Friday and Saturday night. This will be the third time I've seen them in the intimate Fireman's Kitchen and they are a riot! So much fun, so much laughter. They are good for the soul...and your spirit. Side-splitting laughter, lots of talent, very "off the cuff", pull a few people from the audience...just plain F-U-N.

I have been to 3 venues at HCT 2 of which were excellent and one totally sucked, that being, "You I can't hear you when the water is running". The cast read their lines in a nervous and unprofessional manner. We had to leave halfway through.

We were very impressed with the 9/6/19 performance of Hair on the main stage of HCT. The cast and crew had loads of energy and passion for their performances. The talent presented was just outstanding! It speaks highly of this little community theatre that it can bring top notch directors in for these performances. I'm also glad that the sensitive nature of this particular musical did not hinder the theatre from bringing it to the public . Art has the ability to broaden the mind and teach one to tolerate other points of view. This musical had an over arching theme of patriotism and creative individualism which has shaped this country thus far. Don't miss this one!

Really cool little place! I caught a production of Tolkien's The Hobbit. I wasn't a huge fan of the alcohol sales but other than that this place is nice. Parking no issue. Pretty part of Hickory.

I was very surprised to see what a beautiful theater they have. It's small so it's very cozy and every seat is a good one. We saw "the Lion King Jr" and it was a wonderfully professional show with outstanding sets, costumes and actors and actresses. Well done!!!

I love this theater. Very intimate with great acoustics. We have always loved Momma Mia. We saw it on Broadway, twice at Bluementhol, and the movie too many times to count. My Wife and I enjoyed the performance last Saturday 5/25/19 more than any of those. The acting was great. The minor characters smiled all the time. All the main characters were great. Sofie was amazing. the orchestra was great. Sofies's friends were great. Sorry, I don't know names. One of the back up chorus ladies always attracted my attention because of her infectious smile. She wore white capri pants most of the time. Just to show how important all actors are to the total package. We will attend more at this wonderful Little Theater. Thanks to all the actors, orchestra, stage hands and all others who made this a great performance.

I have seen several shows at the many comm. theatres in Hickory, Hudson and Lenoir. There is a great Children's Theatre in Salisbury called the Norvell. They put on 5 to 6 shows a year and everyone is under 18 but the director I have been told. The back stage, lights and actors are all young people. Newton/Conover has a youth group theatre also and there is a New Art Ballet group from there that also does ballets for the public. I also under stand that Sparta has a youth theatre group. Have fun exploring all there is to see in live theatre around Hickory.

All the reviews posted for HCT are a year or more old except one. I have no doubt they could make a better effort to represent their city. Wondering why are people are allowed to eat from noisy, rattling packages during the play? The staff is very friendly. The facility is nice. The acting was the only issue. Local talent can be wonderful but the play I saw did not rank with a High School play.

My wife and I were very impressed and had a delightful time seeing The Hobbit here. Staff are friendly and helpful. They have a fair selection of refreshments, and there are several good restaurants nearby for pre-show dining. I was particularly impressed by how clean and nice the building is, especially considering its age. I often have problems in similar buildings because of a mold allergy, but no such issue here. The theatre itself is clean, well-maintained, and cozy. Seats were comfortable enough to sit in for a couple hours at a time. The passion of both cast and crew is evident in their work, and I'm glad to know we have an establishment like this in our community.

The main stage plays are amazing but skip the fireman's kitchen ones if your going to have plays with little or no production the actors and the play should be magnificent not a snooze fest. Nevertheless I am very impressed with staff, volunteers and local actors.
