RMA a WD RED drive in August. They lost it. I've RMA 3x over 15years, always no issue. This time they lost my drive. Beware RMA no longer go to Western Digital. They go to 3rd party "Teleplan" who don't care about your stuff. You talk to some idiot oversea who don't understand English. WD made a lot of money from me. They take my money, but I think they don't want responsibility. They have grown very big by relying on a 3rd party to do their work now so they pay little. You are now not only paying WD but you pay someone else and WD takes the cut. Maybe Toshiba will give better customer service.
I have a Gen 2 unit with two drives, one failed. So I didn't read the RMA instruction to send the entire unit it. I sent only failed drive. The held unto the drive for 4 months. I spoke to someone 2 months ago, they said they found the drive and would send the drive back to me. I have not yet to receive it. I called to follow up and the person on the phone told me to wait for it in the mail. My warranty expires in Jan 2019. I won't be able to wait any longer. Hello!!! WD!! is any of your 3rd party contractors working?? Hello? The drive is about $150, and not worth much. I don't care about the data, its backed up already. I just want someone at WD to be honest and honor the warranty. Hello, anyone there?
**Update, after 5months I finally got my RMA unit processed. They did send me a working unit. I added 1 star to my rating. Not worth investing so much time though.
