Hewes has done three moves for me since 2015. My being a repeat customer speaks for itself. Highest recommendation to Bill Hewes and his merry band. Harbie Cawthon

High degree of UNPROFESSIONALISM and GOING BACK ON WORDS !! I read a lot of good reviews about Hewes movers and had a guy called Tyler come in for an on- site estimate for our move to Plano, Texas. After looking at the whole house, he wrote on his estimate sheet 1 truck- 3 men and roughly gave us an estimate of 2800. The next day, when we wait for a formal estimate, another guy Bill calls us and tells us that the estimate is a $6000 !!!! Me and my husband were shocked at the very sound of it and asked him to go back to his guy Tyler and ask him. Rather than trying to work the things out for us when we were given an estimate by their guy, they started escaping us and stopped answering calls. We tried calling again and now their new found reason to avoid us was that two trucks were needed and that Tyler was the guy for local estimates. . I WOULD SUGGEST TO NEVER GO WITH THIS KIND OF UNRELIABILITY AND LIES.I tried but somehow this post does not allow attachments but I swear to god that this is the truth which i just want to bring to the notice of everyone,so they don't get left in the lurch.....

We used Hewes in 2015 and would have given them a 5 star rating for that move. 2016 was a different story. We used them a 2nd time bc they had been so wonderful. Our second move was horrible. They damaged freshly painted walls, newly refinished hardwood floors, new linoleum, expensive furniture, and more. When I reported it to them, they asked me to get my walls and linoleum repaired on my own and they would repay me. They also sent a repair guy out to fix the damaged furniture. He actually was a belligerent slob and damaged more than he fixed. To date (move was in July), I have received no money to repay me for damages, tho I have it in writing from them that the check would be "in the mail tomorrow." Bill, "the owner", now refuses to answer any of my messages and we still have not been compensated. They brag about their integrity but this behavior does not match that claim.

I would happily recommend Hewes Family Movers to my family and friends. The two young men moving me worked carefully and efficiently. They were friendly and even offered me advice about living in Griffin (I'm new here). This was a wonderful company to work with.

The movers arrived on time and, did an impeccable job. Very pleased with the quality of service I received and, I would highly recommend this company for anyone who is in the market for a good moving company.

We used Hewes Family Movers on the recommendation of several people. Owner Bill Hewes came to our home and estimated the move himself. I questioned whether a group of four packers could actually pack our entire home of 7300 square feet in six hours and was assured they could. Two days before the move they decided to add two more packers, and on the day of added two more people. The difference between the regular packers and the call in people was obvious. Some boxes were packed beautifully and others had haphazard items thrown in a box with no packing material and labeled with a room none of the items came from. We put red stickers on items that were to stay in the house and communicated this to everyone present, yet many of those boxes and pieces of furniture were moved anyway. Many boxes were left behind, including the entire contents of our wine cellar. The loaders did not wrap each item of furniture with plastic as I requested and expected. When I questioned one young man about this he evinced ignorance and said he thought the upholstered chairs were patio furniture. They had to hire an additional truck to fit all our goods as they did not have enough available. On moving day they unloaded all the boxes first, then the furniture. You don t have to be a mover to know that this isn t the right order of work. We had to ask them to set up the beds. One six month old king size natural latex mattress was dirty because it had not been wrapped, just stood up in a dirty truck. It was raining during the unloading, and although the movers put down cardboard upstairs on the hardwood floors, they put NOTHING on the carpeted floors of the basement and we had to ask them to wipe their feet. Regardless, we will still have to have our carpet re-cleaned. One lamp was broken and all the parts of our clock were in different boxes. We still have not located them all. Cushions that were were not wrapped got wet coming in the house and we had to dry them with hairdryers. Every single wardrobe box was so tightly packed that the metal hanging bars pulled through the cardboard, leaving a tangled mess of clothing in the bottoms.

We had to rent a 10 x 10 truck ourselves to take back items that should not have been moved and retrieve things that were left. This move was promised to be professional. I would gladly have paid for better packers, for more boxes, for more careful loaders. I would have bought them more plastic wrap myself. The move cost more than $8500 (to move 22 miles) and the owner never showed up once during the three day job. There is nothing wrong with a family business as long as it operates professionally. This one doesn t.

I rarely write reviews, but when you are enduring the stress of moving, and people you hire make your life easier, it is worth noting. Daniel, Thomas and Jay helped my family move on Saturday, September 21, 2019 and they were awesome. They were efficient, mindful and hard-working. Their attitudes were terrific as several people were giving them instructions throughout the day. They were also very careful with our belongings and no abrasions on the walls as they moved furniture. I would highly recommend the service and specifically these three gentlemen. Christin in the office was also great to work with as we had to change our move date and details several times. These guys made our move and lives less stressful and that is worth 5 stars +. If you are moving and need 3 competent and hard-working guys, request Daniel, Thomas and Jay. Thank you.

Outstanding service. Great rates, movers handled everything with plenty of care. Best crew! They never stopped working and were very considerate with our belongings. They were open to ideas and suggestions for ways to transport our furniture out of a 3 stories town home even if they were somewhat unconventional. 6 stars!!!

I recently found myself needing to move a grand piano on short notice. Although the movers I'd hired to unload my truck were great at moving everything else, they were concerned when it came time to unload my grand piano. The weather was unbelievably bad at that point with wind and heavy rain and they suggested I contact Hewes Family Movers in Griffin. Bill Hewes, on extremely short notice, worked wonders to fit this move into his schedule. He and his team of four movers arrived at the time they'd promised (the very next morning) and proceeded to carefully and masterfully unload, move and set up a (nearly 100 year old) grand piano - all with the highest level of patience, precision and capability you could hope for. I was wholly impressed with not only how well they moved the piano but also how well they worked together and how respectfully Bill spoke to and directed his employees - to me, that really says a lot about a person. Bill Hewes and his team were unfailingly courteous and exceedingly professional. They did an absolutely awesome job on very short notice and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

Have moved us two time over 3 years out of state and back. Service is top of the line and price is very reasonable. Both moves they packed & unpacked us and made it all so smooth. They know what they are doing and it makes all the difference. Several of the crew were the same which I think speaks volumes. Give them a call and let your move actually be an easy one!

I have moved twice with HFM and cannot say enough about what a great company this is. 1. The owner stands behind their mission and the quality of work 2. The workers/movers themselves have an amazing work ethic and incredible positive attitude 3. The prices are reasonable for the high level of service and excellence delivered by all employees.

Unprofessional. I contacted them to set a date for them to help me load a moving truck. They told me they could do the job. I asked them to send me a quote. Four days later I still have not heard form them. I finally talked to a human (Bill Hewes) and we were cut off. He never returned the call. The following day I tried to follow up again and he sends me the following text, "Hi this is Bill Hewes. After the phone call last night we were under the impression that we were not going to be moving you." Really, 3 days before I need to be moved and this is the level of customer service and care they display. Do not use them!

This was a last minute move due to the movers I had booked I had to fire,because one of the movers didn't want to listen to the customer and do his own thing. I called Bill with Hewes Family and luckily he had a last minute opening. He sent 2 very professional guys to move my things (Danieland Jay). They showed up on time, and worked fast. There's no hidden fees, and they DON'T ASK FOR MONEY UP FRONT!!! They want to make sure you're happy before asking for payment. Their rates were better than the company I fired (TWO MEN/TRUCK). I would use Hewes Family movers again in a heart beat!!! The owner, Bill was genuinely appreciative of my business!!!

This was, hands down, the BEST move we have had in our, now, 13 moves. I have never felt more at ease and stress free as I did with this company handling our move. The packers were fast and efficient and the movers were even faster. We had no broken items, no damage to walls or floors and the entire crew treated me with respect. I would recommend them to anyone wanting trustworthy people who do a tremendous job and are grateful for the work. They came in under the quote and offered me an incredible rate. I would hire them again, without a doubt.

Great service at a great price. Arrived on time and worked hard to make sure we were happy with the move. We had some large heavy furniture but they took care of everything!

My husband accepted a job offer near Boston, MA, but they wanted him to start in less than a month! We got quotes from several moving companies, including both the big-name national companies and local, family-owned businesses like Hewes. Hewes had great reviews, was willing to work with us on our last-minute timeline, and was also able to work within the budget of our modest relocation assistance amount to give us what we needed. Other companies wanted to charge twice as much, move us in a large trailer with two other sets of stuff on the same truck, and give us a 3-5 day delivery window. Hewes did our move only on their genius van-trailer combo, arrived at exactly the move date and time we needed, and gave us the most reasonable price. We even had to adjust the moving itinerary by a day just three days before they were scheduled to load, and they made the changes just as we requested.
On moving day, a team of three guys came and loaded our things. Because they have a van + trailer, they can load fragile things like lamps, pictures, paintings, etc. into compartments in the van that keep them protected. These guys were incredibly nice, worked very quickly, were very careful with our things, and according to my four year-old, "They're the strongest men I've ever seen!" The delivery team of two guys drove our stuff up, stayed in touch, and arrived exactly when we scheduled. They did a great job and were also super nice. Great company, great people, great job. Thank you!

So happy that I chose to use Hewes! It was a very last minute move. They were available to help and I booked 2 days before hand! Bobby and Kendall were excellent help. Very personable and were non judgemental with everything this move led to (not a normal move.) Thanks to them for being such great help and treating my family and I normal. We moved everything into a storage unit and they packed everything so nicely, otherwise everything wouldn't have fit. I can't say thank you enough!

Hewes has moved us twice and done an excellent job each time. Bill is a stand-up guy who does what he says he will!

I dont know what happen to these guys. I used them for a move in 2013 and they were great. Now, I have called them probably 35 times to schedule a new move and every single time my call went to VM. I was contacted two days later and the person seemed to not be concerned at all. The other two well known (and well rated) firms I called answered on the first ring and either gave me a quote over the phone or came out the next day. Strange. Message to Mr. Hewes, answer your phones at all costs!
