A nice spot to go for sceenic views. You can drive up the road from Hubbard park, or walk the 7 mile roynd trip road, which goes by a reservoirs and a beautiful winding road with lovely tree canopy up to the tower.

Amazing view! But, if you are not in shape, or exercise every day you will be in for VERY LONG hike. Make sure you have your water and appropriate hike gear and sneakers! I loved the hike and the view is breath taking. The castle has lots of stairs to reach the top. The story behind the castle is historic! And the staff were great. It was my first time and definitely not my last!

Good steep trek to the top to get here. Almost 6 flights of stairs each floor showing an arrangement of how things were back in the day. Very informative and beautiful. Amazing view form the top. It's free and has a gift shop on the first floor.

I've looked out at this tower for the better part of my life with endless wonder. Actually visiting is priceless. The view, the history and the tower itself were better than I ever imagined. You should probably plan on spending some time here. I'm so happy I finally made it and I will definitely return soon.

Never knew this gen existed till a week or so ago. On top of a tremendously invigorating hike, the history of the Hublein Tower was great and touring the place was gorgeous! Incredible view and so peaceful. Would highly recommend a trek up Talcott Mountain!!!

This is such a great place to hike to and visit. Beautiful in all seasons. In winter, they don't plow all the way up the access road though, so you have to park and walk to the trailhead. You'll definitely want yaktracks for the walk up. It stays pretty nice/snowy! It's a bit steep at first, but then it levels off. Beautiful views of the Farmington River valley.

The hike is well worth the view from this magnificent tower. The tower itself is entirely free to visit and you can climb the stairs inside up to an observation deck. The trail is pretty steep in places, but relatively short and a great family activity. Overall, I highly recommend hiking the trail and climbing the tower!

An essential destination if you live in the area. People of all skill levels make the hike. The first part is quite steep but we'll maintained, and then it levels out. Distance to the tower is 1.25 MI. The tower is not always open, so check the website. I believe it is generally open on weekends until it gets too cold. The view is spectacular from the tower and along the way there. There are bathroom facilities at the bottom and top and a water fountain at the top that isn't bad.

A really good uphill hike to get to the tower. There are benches along the trail if you would like to take a break. Best time to go is in the fall, when and where there will be plenty of bright and colorful foliage awaiting you. Inside the tower there is a small gift shop that sells snacks and drinks. Around the outside of the tower there are grills and picnic tables some under open wall roofed structures.

A very serene trekking experience to the tower. Beautiful views of CT along the way up. And awesome views from the tower as well. A great picnic spot also available with ample space. A perfect place to enjoy with family and friends!

If you set your Google map to Heublein Tower, it will take you to a dead end residential drive way. So the right way to get to Heublein Tower is by going to Talcott Mountain State Park, parking your car there and doing a 35 to 45 Minute hike to reach Heublein Tower.

There is plenty of parking at the Talcott Mountain State Park. Cars having Out of state registration plates have to pay a fee for parking. Connecticut registered vehicles can park for free.

Due to Covid-19, the tower is closed (hence 4 stars), but the hike to the Heublein Tower is well worth the trip. I am not a fan of hiking, but I loved this one. The trail is pretty steep and slippery (loose pebbles) for the first five minutes starting from the Talcott Mountain State Park, after which the trail flattens out completely and has multiple scenic points to stop and take some amazing pictures. If you are lucky, you will also get to see Para-gliders jump off the ledge within 5 feet from you. We were lucky to talk to one of them, see him prepare his glider for the flight and watched him sail off into the sky. It was an amazing experience. I wish I could just tag along. It was one of those beautiful day's with clear sunshine and blue sky peppered with beautiful white foamy clouds with an amazing cool breeze for a fantastic glide.

There are two toilets (not designated to either gender) at the beginning of the hike from Talcott Mountain state park. Your next chance to use one will be at the Heublein Tower. There are two restrooms at the Heublein tower (not designated to either gender), neither one had the toilet paper, so I would suggest carrying some towelettes and Hand Wash or Hand Sanitizer for your hygiene. Carry at least one big bottle of water, you will need it during the hike. I did not see any drinking water fountains at the tower. Further more, this hike is not handicap friendly (especially the first 5 min of the trail). Once you reach the tower, again there are multiple locations you can take some good pictures, but again if you are assisted or in a wheelchair, you will not be able to get close to the tower. There is a flat region right at the entrance of the tower, you will have to be content just hanging out here, while others can walk close to the tower and take some pictures or enjoy the view.

Beautiful location with an energetic hike. Figure 40-45 minutes from the parking to the tower. 30 minutes back down. You can send a hours or more enjoying your time there. Bring water and a snack. Hiking boots are recommended as the walk up and down is loose and uneven mix of stone, gravel, and dirt. The first 15 minutes up is the hardest. The top is very flat. There are toilets at the top but no other services.
