Interesting place: definitely worth a visit when you are in Utrecht (with free entrance). The carriage downstairs with an audiovisual presentation about the different times and specifically during the time of the Peace of Utrecht is a must.

Utregters, but also non-Utrechters, will enjoy all the (moving) images to be viewed and heard. Also very nice for older children. Very reasonable entrance fee, children up to 12 years old can join for free. Friendly and helpful employees. Recommended!

Lovely staff, interesting historical building.

Will go back soon to see the permanent exhibition.

Nice temporary exhibition about posters of Jaarbeurs the past 100 years. Clear, approximately 45 minutes. With the possibility for children to make their own poster in the style of that time.

Only the animation that you see at the entrance is more than worth the entrance (2.50pp). Beautifully put together. If you then continue, you will pass a nice piece of interactive history of, among other things, the origin of Utrecht, the beautiful and less beautiful sides of history and you can cycle through the city. Finally, downstairs is a beautiful exhibition that really takes you into the disaster year of 1672. Really worth a visit!

The Utrechts Archief location Hamburgerstraat is worth a visit if you want to know more about the history of the city and province. The building is housed in the old court and close to the most beautiful square in the Netherlands: the Domplein. You can sniff history here.

With an archive you quickly think of dusty shelves and long, packed shelves. None of that at Het Utrechts Archief, which uses a state-of-the-art technology to create a presentation that is allowed. The Utrechts Archief holds changing exhibitions in the rooms that are often left over from the former St Paul's Abbey, where you can still find walls in monastery jokes and pointed arch windows. Of course there is a study room upstairs where you can search digitally in the archives. More than worth a visit.

'Utrecht on Film 1920-1980' is a very nice exhibition and absolutely worth seeing. Especially if you know the city it is great (and sometimes shocking) to see how it looked so many years ago. Utrecht is well documented by its citizens over the years. Some of them have been really creative too, making mini featurettes on 8mm.
The Utrecht Archive is located in the remains of the former Abbey of St. Paul (Paulusabdij) which was founded around 1050. The museumshop has a good selection of books and postcards. Very friendly staff is helpful and happy to tell you all that you want to know.

Utrecht has its online archives in order. There is a lot available so you can find a lot. Nice people through customer service. The site could be a bit more user-friendly but that's all.

History is brought to life here! You are automatically sucked into life, the way of thinking and the themes of that time. Because the court was located here you will find information about the Dutch legal system of that time. There are also changing extra exhibitions. Recommended!
