This place is incredible and the people here are totally out of space with all their talents. Staff is friendly and they are superb in their weekly public tours.
SANSA Space Science does fantastic research into Space Weather, Ionospheric conditions, Magnetospheric modelling and more. Host to the only Space Weather Monitoring Centre in Africa. Ionosondes, GPS receivers, radar and VLF antennas abound. Massive Helmholtz Coil and a very impressive high-temperature SQUID Magnetometer. Science Centre for outreach and education! Free public tours on Wednesdays at 11, and they often hold public lectures by visiting scientists from around the world.
Interesting place. Could be better kept-- gardens etc. Wednesday one can see the exhibition. Small but interesting. I think more can be done by them to get kids psyched about science center and maths a d ensure they see the bigger picture of life out there.
Lovely for inquisitive children. Interesting if you are into Solar flare and Space information. They calibrate compasses here as well.
Professionalism is clearly visible in how they deal with clients. I dealt with them recently and they are extremely good.
Very interesting place to visit. The tour guides are very knowledgeable & always ready to answer any question that you may have. Until my visit, I never knew how much the Earths magnetic fields were so affected by the Sun s radiation & how a little town in the Western Cape could have such a big impact on the rest of the world.
The name say it all and when u get inside the buildings you learn more of space science..
