I ve contemplated writing a review for a physician...
I ve contemplated writing a review for a physician at the Nashville Heritage Medical Center for over nine months. I hesitate to publish a negative comment because it is not my intention to judge anyone s character or motives. However, I am daily reminded of what I believe to be an error on this physician s part, and that has led me to write this review.
I had sinus surgery to correct a deviated septum and remove sinus polyps in December of 2020. I was told there would be a stint placed on either side of my septum for support, and that these two stints would be removed on my first post-op appointment. I was unaware that, along with the two stints, two plastic implants had been inserted into my nostrils from tip to bridge. No details of these implants were given to me before surgery and no picture of these implants were shown to me during any prior appointments. I did not know they were in my nose until my first post-op appointment.
The implants are visible at the bridge of my nose and are still tender to the touch nine months later. However, I wear reading glasses for at least 8-12 hours per day, as well as sunglasses when needed; and the pain I feel every minute of wearing glasses is a constant reminder of the wrong I feel was inflicted on me by this physician. I informed the physician prior to surgery that I wore reading glasses almost all day. The implants make a V-shape right at the place where my glasses sit on my nose. I can t begin to describe the pain I feel every day.
I was very upset to hear that these implants had been inserted without my knowledge or consent. At the post-op appointment, this doctor told me they would begin dissolving in a few months; however, in my own research and after seeing a plastic surgeon to inquire about removing them, I learned the implants would not begin dissolving until after two years. And, removing them would be quite costly and leave very visible scars. I will have to deal with this pain for over another year.
While I asked all the questions I could think of asking prior to surgery, it s very difficult to ask questions about something of which I am unaware. I would not recommend having sinus surgery with this practice.
