Nice castle, not too big. Very neatly kept and they have a tour that is very informative and really gives the castle one identity. You imagine yourself back in time and the whole story makes it fun and interesting even for children. You do have to take the early tour, then you can still visit the fort further on. If you want a nice day out with the kids, this is highly recommended. As here you don't see them often. Tribute to the volunteers!
Beautifully restored castle, where the film Floris was shot
Wow, very good idea of how to live in medieval times
Today and tomorrow a beautiful event going on around the castle! Imagine yourself in the Middle Ages and enjoy all the friendly people and of course the castle and its beautiful surroundings
A castle as you would imagine it! Where a knight used to live, who fought for the Duke of Gelre. A fortress with a moat and a draw bridge. Floris (a TV series about a knight with Rutger Hauer) was set in this castle. Cool! They have a great collection of armor and weaponry, documents and there's personell in authentic clothing standing by to answer questions. Great castle experience! We walked to Arnhem from there but I would recommend taking the bike there from Arnhem. It's really nice.
A real castle with courtyard bridge and thick walls in a beautiful setting. There are guided tours, at least 1 in the morning and 1 in the early afternoon, so be on time if you want.
Was not in the castle, but from the outside very nice. And that day was a knight event, which was great to watch. Small and fine
Light feast was fantastic. 12 artworks of light, small to large. Atmospheric matching music. Nice to view the castle in a different way.
Beautiful castle. Very accessible and well maintained.
Authentic castle, especially the light festival is a must
Beautiful castle becomes much organized on weekends
Very nice castle to visit. The volunteers have interesting stories and facts about the castle and really complete the visit
Beautiful castle, where Rutger Hauer once started his career as Floris. In the past had various corporate parties in this castle. Unfortunately, the castle was not accessible, most likely due to the Corona crisis. But the exterior is still worthwhile.
Beautiful castle, very enthusiastic hostess during tour.
Beautiful castle, castle freely accessible, nice environment
Beautiful castle. Nice informative tour. And a nice terrace for afterwards.
Today we had a delicious lunch at Doornenburg castle with Han and Lilian. The owners of my babysitter dog Casje.
Beautiful location
Yesterday I took a trip to Castle Doornenburg with 2 of my grandsons (13 and 8 years old). It was a great success. Mainly because of the pleasant, entertaining explanation from Rian, the guide. All three of us enjoyed it!
Nice courtyard where you can get corona proof coffee or the like. can drink.
A beautiful castle on the outside, but very austere on the inside.
very informative volunteers, medieval soldiers every 3rd Sunday which makes the atmosphere super. Nice castle
Beautiful castle, brings you directly into the dreamland.
Beautiful old really like a castle should look like.
A hidden gem. Beautifully conserved castle with the most amazing 'voorburg', the part surrounding the main building, in The Netherlands. Inside it is well -preserved with some interesting rooms. In the on-site restaurant the food is good and people are friendly. The reason for 'just' 4 stars is the tour we had... The tour is obligated, but we had 'luck' to have someone talking quite monotone and the tour took almost 2,5 hour (!). Something around an hour would have been perfect.
Fabulous. We really enjoyed visiting the Castle and learning about the history. We also had an excellent meal.
Beautiful place but unfortunately during openmonumentendag, only a small part of the castle was open
Beautifully restored castle with many stories from the past.
It is wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the many volunteers who do everything to keep it beautiful.
Atmospheric, authentic (rebuilt after bombing in 2nd W.O.) castle. Nice courtyard where you can eat and drink something. Tour is possible. Located on the Linge. Beautiful environment. Recommended!
Nice castle with a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and drink a nice cup of coffee. The fresh waffle with strawberries and whipped cream is highly recommended
awesome
The castle is located in the east of the Betuwe and centrally in Gelderland, near the village of Doornenburg. It consists of an outer castle and a main castle, which are connected by a narrow wooden bridge. It is one of the largest and best preserved castles in the Netherlands.
In the 9th century, there was already a fortified house on the site of the castle, known as Villa Dorenburc. This resulted in a modest castle in the 13th century
A real castle. Nice tour.
Only a real suit of armor: be the coolest dad.
My day was great, my son's too
Fantastic, well attended despite Corona, very nice staff who are available in every room for questions and photos in costume. Unfortunately, a few rooms are also closed due to Corona
Impressive light show. Better accessible paths for wheelchairs would have been nice.
From the outside it is quite big and is beautiful. I do not know inside
nicely done this Halloween party for the kids next year we are back again
The castle interior is not impressive, but the exterior & courtyard are impressive.
Was a lot of fun though it was a pity that the footpaths were not lit so my wife fell over the steel ramps that protruded. And a day later found out that she had broken her elbow, that was not a nice start to my birthday.
Cool castle, nice lunch enjoyed beautiful surroundings
Great location. After cycling you can relax on the terrace.
It s a very beautiful place. Old man is full of it. For visitors, delicious sausages are smoked on their eyes. Near the blacksmith forges something, and here you can buy your product. Cafes offer very good coffee and homemade pies.
The "tour" was well organized! At the reserved time we were picked up and escorted to the door of the castle. Inside we got a short explanation about the tour (we were allowed to follow the footsteps) between the different groups sat 10 minutes. That was enough time to walk around quietly (with 4 children). Enthusiastic employees stood in various rooms to give explanations or answer questions. Disinfection equipment was available in every room! Had a great afternoon!
Beautiful castle surrounded by small meadows, with a nice looking terrace eatery inside. Unfortunately the eatery was not open for meals when we visited, but really nice location.
Nice Castle in a beautiful and well-kept environment. Too bad that only the courtyard is accessible. The rest on public holidays and under supervision.
Small but nice Castle. Even better that the TV series Floris was largely shot here
Beautiful castle, so accurately restored after the bombardment that took place during the Second World War, unimaginable that the castle dates from around 1300, the style is beautiful, the courtyard is also very special with the ancient weeping aspen, a beautiful castle! Have also been in one of the chapels, very nice.
Beautiful castle in a quiet area. From here you can also make beautiful bike rides with nice feather pounds. Note that out of season the ferry pennies are less or not.
Beautiful castle, beautifully renovated after WWII.
Very beautifully restored castle and interesting tour
Very nice castle and very beautiful light show last Saturday.
There was something to look at. Meparik that such places make coffee.
The castle is now being renovated and restored. Nevertheless, the terrace is open. Nice views and herb garden
Castle which you can only visit with a tour and limited opening
Beautiful spot. Delicious food. Very friendly service
