Hemingway House Review

Was there 25 years ago and the penciled Piccos we're not there only the cat and some history had " changed' but I still enjoyed our guided tour... remember to tip the guides it's the thing to do.

Good place to visit, might be the best in Key West. Learned a lot about this famous writer.

The tour was wonderful and the tour guide has a wonderful sense of humor. Beautiful home along with some wonderful history behind it. A must see while walking around town.

Loved the museum. Take a guided tour if you have time. Cats are everywhere and there s so many! Loved every minute of it! Staff is wonderful and also cares so much about the kitties!

The building is so well maintained. The lawns are so fabulous. The cats strolling around are an absolute joy. There is a gift shop where books can be purchased. The furniture inside is exquisite.

Good spot, can't leave Key West without going there !

Very nice well kept and very interesting museum. Guided tour was very nice Johanna was a great guide. Definitely worth a stop in on a hot day, the ac works very well. Give about an hour to enjoy the house and the grounds.

I have been to Key West many times - and taken the tour twice. Tyler was our guide. Could not ask for a more friendly, personable guide on the island. Tells great jokes, wealth of information..and he kept ALL of us engaged. He grew up on the island... I envy him! Thanks for the tour Tyler - great work!

Worth the admission. Take the free tour. Tip the guide and pet the cats.

My wife and I visited on her anniversary one of the cats bit the hell out of me and scratch my hand it was bleeding for a few hours all in all it was a good tour though.

Interesting window into the life and work of Ernest Hemingway in the Key West context. There was apparently also a combo deal available, covering both the Marine 'treasure hunting' museum (Mel Fisher) and the Hemingway home - be sure to get that in advance in case you're interested and save a couple of bucks.

Honestly not very interesting. I fell in love with the "six-fingered" cats that master everywhere but $ 14 for a half-hour ride, it seems a bit exaggerated. Parking not available

Nice also the fact that the property is "invaded" by very well treated and sociable cats.

Guided tour was interesting & informative. Guide was passionate & friendly. Cats were adorable and will stop by to say hi during the tour! Tour guide knew all the cats names. Scenic. Worth doing.

Very interesting and recommended *: *: *: * Every time. His house is so well preserved and authentic as if he were present. Some descendants of his cats with claws 7 live there actually still.

Make the time to go with the guided tour (free with entrance). It's not long, and it's informative just to hear about the 6-toed cats.

A piece of history! The house is kept very well and leaves a lot of space for the imagination and thoughts of the writer. The guide helps you feel part of the story. A lot of emotion :)

A must see. Hemingway didn't live here that long, but it is one of the best houses in Key West to visit.

Our tour guide (forgot name, but possibly Doug) was the most knowledgable person on the subject we have even come across. He knew everything about Hemmingway and you can tell he absolutely loves his job. The house is gorgeous and full of history to keep anyone entertained. Highly recommend taking a guided tour to hear all about this incredibly interesting man. (This is coming from someone who doesn't much care for history lessons)

The tour at the Hemingway House was fantastic. I enjoyed it so much I couldn't sleep that night because I was pleasantly overwhelmed.
Our guide (whose name I have regrettably forgotten, but she was beautiful, had long hair and butterfly tattoos) was the best guide I've ever had.
As much as I loved the cats, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the estate (building, gardens and furniture) was fantastic.
Knowing what I know now. ..
I'd pay double the price.
If you are in Key West, you gotta stop.
You'll simply love it.

I would love to have a house like this one. Surprisingly small but light and cozy! The six toe cats own the home!

The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum provided further insight to Hemingway s lifestyle and tumultuous stories.He was a restless personality who processed trauma and dramatic reflection visually through the means of literature and the protocols of war correspondences.Key West,Florida and Cuba were centers of culture and entertainment for the writer.I highly recommend a visit to this museum and home memorializing Ernest Hemingway!

This place is great if you like cats. As of today they had 60 hemingway cats. The tour is informative and the money is used to feed them and keep up the museum.

This was a lovely little museum that shared information about both the writer and his relationship with Key West. The house and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There are a number six toed cats that wander the house freely. If you have that allergy this might not be the best choice of activities. There is a gift shop near the back of the property. The museum has guided tours periodically throughout the day. I loved this place.

Wonderfully preserved, captured the essence of the man and his family, great tour guides or feel free to walk around the grounds on self guided tour. Until the tour I didnt realize the influendence this man had on US history. Just around the corner from Duvall street. The cats are friendly...you can pet but don't pick up.

Great tour with knowledgeable tour guides. The rare kitties were the best of course, especially Harry Truman.

Come for the legacy of 'Papa', stay for the love of cats! Hemingway House is a lovely visit while in town, but I was asked at how many cats are on the property, the story about them, and how I wanted to see EVERY SINGLE ONE of them!

Do you love Cats? Are you a crazy cat person? Do you feel the need to pet cats? THEN COME HERE! Also... history buff of hemmingway's work? Sure.. come on down.. but watch out.. there is a ton of cats here.

We did not really come in because we were late, but we saw the house from outside.

Very informative yet not at all a dry museum tour. Very entertaining.

When in Key West, take time to tour Hemingway's home. Learn the culture of a writer in paradise. My husband and I had a great time on this tour and highly recommend it! It's wonderful to see how clean and well cared for the cats are.

The tour is awesome, make sure you stick around for it. So many cute kitties too, a literature/cat lover paradise! Just dont pick them up, they will come to you when ready :) gift shop is super cute also. Worth the entry fee for fun tales to bring home.

Lots and lots of foot traffic here! It definitely takes away from the ability to explore it when you are trying to see around other people! Would be nice if they limited admission to a certain amount every 15 minutes.

We ve been to the house in Cuba, and preferred the house and grounds there. But it was good to complete our tour of Hemingway Homes, and still worthwhile to see while in Key West.
