This firm is amazing. Looking at some of these other reviews they it seems as though some people are upset with the social security process.
They have helped my family members get benefits and are always trying to assist where they can. Even if there isn't something they can't do to fix the process, they're always trying to help and encourage you.

this firm hacked into my social security account - changed my password and home address TO THEIR ADDRESS. ALL MY SS NOTICES INCLUDING THE NEW 1099 HAS BEEN SENT TO THEM. THEY FILED SOMETHING WITH SS WITHOUT ME KNOWING IT AND TOOK $2000 FROM SS CHECK THIS MONTH!!!!! I FILED THE IDENTITY THEFT AND APPEAL WITH SS IMMEDIATELY - 30 TO 60 DAYS.... WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE OFF OF!!!!! Calling our Maryland State Police to see if i can report this fraud.

By far the worst law firm in San Antonio. Consider taking your business elsewhere People. My father is waiting to attend his hearing in December and I have not been able to speak to the Manager of the Hearing Department Ana Malpeca. Every time I call, she is not in, out to lunch, or has left for the day. Does this woman work? As a San Antonio native everyone knows everyone and this woman is an embarrassment to Heard and Smith. Access to her social media, she surly represents her company well. How does Mr Heard and Mr. Smith allow this? It surly shows the unprofessionalism the law firm provides to its clients. Re-evaluate who represents your company! I will be submitting a complaint to the state. YOU ARE FIRED!

I was a little skeptical to use a national attorney for my Social Security disability case, however from the reviews I decided to use them. I have to say that I am very pleased with them. From the time I applied until the day that I was approved they have been nothing but professional, Kind and Courteous. As long as you do your part in updating them with all your doctors appointments etc. they will do the rest. They were always up-to-date with getting all my medical records that I needed. Other than the 2 year wait because of the overload from ssdi, I never had any stress dealing with the attorneys. It is very common for Social Security disability to deny you the initial application and the reconsideration So don t get discouraged. If you do not hear from your attorney for months it s because they haven t heard anything from SS yet. It takes months to get a hearing appt. You can always call them if you would feel more comfortable.
I highly recommend this company. If you have qualified disabilities, they will get you approved. As hard as it may be you have to be patient.

I don't typically leave reviews, but this time I felt a good one was due. Without going into lots of uninteresting details, in September 2015 H&S initially took me as a client for first-time disability application; The process was roughly 13 months, and approval was granted. It never went to court or anything like that (to the best of my recollection it was smooth sailing & straight forward). They had earned their agreed upon fee IMOP. Fast forwarding to March 2019 I myseriously receive a surprise huge chunk of money in my bank account from the Social Security Administration which caused immediate panic that something had gone horribly wrong. It turned out that H&S had sent their entire fee BACK to the SSA with a letter something to the effect that they didn't feel they had deserved it, that in the end they'd decided not much effort was needed for my case. Imagine that! What law firm in America practices ethics THAT PHENOMENAL these days!? It was a HUGE HUGE HUGELY amazing thing to witness! As far as I am concerned, Heard & Smith can do no wrong! The principle & good ethics of it all.. It made me tearful with joy. There are no words!

Not only did this law firm do nothing for me, after I fed them every bit of information, they failed to obtain a single record from any doctor's. The lawyer they sent to represent me was about as inept a lawyer as I've ever seen. After almost 4 years of doing next to nothing, they withdrew from my case. My case is cut and dry, so I am baffled that these idiots did absolutely nothing. ZERO!

They claim to be be one of the best disability law firm companies but they seem like they don't have any compassion or care to help been struggling for almost two years in bad health and waiting now to find out if they are even going to appeal for me or not feel like I have just been brushed to the side.

Rude and very reluctantly MIGHT give you some help. After all the receptionist is awful and with such matter-of-fact attitude wouldn't like to have do anything with this business. I regret having recommended them before I actually did personally interact with myself

So far, so good. We are hoping for the best. I called Heard and Smith four years ago to help get my disabled wife on SSI. During the call they asked me if I had any physical issues, and I told them the few I had. I didn't expect anything of it because my wife if far more ill then I, but within a year I was approved for SSI and getting a check. Unfortunately the government has denied my wife over and over, so she has had to progress through several legal stages to finally get to see a judge to get her disability approved to start receiving SSI. Tomorrow we do a phone consolation with the attorney and on May 30 my wife goes before the judge with the Heard and Smith attorney and 28 years of doctor records. The first two years of this four year journey was going through stages of doctors and SSI applications. The last two years was just waiting for the court to set a time for the hearing before a judge. I have every confidence that we will succeed. The communication between myself and the attorney's office has been excellent and we look forward to winning so we will finally have the funds to help my wife get better doctors. I will update this post after May 30 with the results. We were also affected by two floods at our home here in Houston, including Hurricane Harvey, so please keep us in your prayers. God bless. if u need adequate representation for ur trial, call heard n smith. I had to wait 1 year, but shortly after trial, I got my decision.... they need to do a TV commercial. believe it or not, I found them on FB. I was hesitant to call, but they said they could help me. I was denied 3 times before.. thank y'all....I can live again.

Heard and Smith suck! Heard and Smith suck they dragged my case on for over a year trying to rack up commissions and dropped my case two months before my SSI administration hearing date. Fortunately I received representation by my local social services building won my case and am waiting for my benefits.

This firm really sucks. My husband has all kinds of problems and depression is one. Well he was represented by shanti day and he didn't get his benefits. He threatened to kill his self and they let him go. What kind of firm is that. It shows he needs help and they cut him loose now he is having trouble getting a attorney. Do not use these people. Full warning don't use them.

My husband is currently using them to try to obtain his SSDI and they do not return phone calls and leave you in hold FOREVER...no one ever comes to the phone.

I used Morgan & Morgan and received my SSDI in one month, I wish my husband would have also gone with Morgan & Morgan - now he is stuck with Heard & Smith. Do not use this firm - run, run, run for your life!!

Absolutely terrible , dropped me with no explanation right before my court date , they dont care about you and will leave you more stressed then if you went it alone , i believe they dropped me so that i will pay more for another attorney , there all working together just to get a big pay day,

The facts are you took my case had me strung along up until i got my court date and then even scheduled and appointment to review my case with me before we went court , then i receive a notice of social security department that you dropped me .
Then nobody would explain to me why or what happened til i came down and Hector was sent to talk to me and he was clueless and acting like i was wasting his time .
Again i say dont go with these guys there horrible and they care more about me removing my post then they did about my case , i got the voice messages to prove it

Acted like they didn't have time of day to even talk to me and listen to my case. So if you don't have time enough to get your appeal in don't even call them because they're not even going to deal with your case. Seems like they just want the sure thing.

Best law firm ever, mrs Henderson sorry your husband did not get approved i know how it is being depressed, but its not law firm that approves your disability all thay do is file for you keeps you from doing all the paperwork. Don't give up even if you have to file on your own but keep trying.

For 2 years they have been my attorney. They did everything that needed to be done and I was very satisfied with their services. But I was denied 3 different times. After the 3rd time they filed another appeal for me then sent me a letter stating they were withdrawing as my attorney! Now my options are to continue on my own or find a different attorney! As if my anxiety and depression werent bad enough! Im at a total loss! Why waste all this time and then walk away and leave me to do it on my own not knowing where to start??

Very incompetent group. I lost my case for lack of info on rules.

They might seem like they're not doing much at first and you might have to do a tad bit of helping when it comes to getting records but they were able to get me a favorable outcome.
But to be clear I actually do have medical issues that that do qualify for ssdi.

Avoid them at all cost!! If you do not choose to retain them, they will harass you until you open a harassment suit against them.

It's a good website.I was looking for something and had a hard time getting around but only because I was unsure of what I was looking for. I eventually found what I needed and after that I would give it a five-star rating. I gave a four only because of the trouble finding what I needed.

Five years, yup five years of waiting and working with them just to be dropped for no reason after having my court date in December. Since I'm sure you'll reply with "this person wasn't represented" so you can save face, my name is Brittany Shaw, and yes you did.
I spent five years sending all my information, all my doctor's appointments, paperwork, diagnosis and proof to you all, now all of that is now wasted.
I have a NUMBER of disabilities and proof too, and spent all of that time wasted just to be interrogated in court when I was told my lawyer was going to talk for me. That never happened.
And apparently they also don't pay attention to address changes either.
When I moved 400 miles north, I told them of my address change three separate times, just for my court case to be held 400 miles away because they never updated it, then I get a phone call from an enraged employee there telling me I never changed it and yelled at me, when I told her I told them three separate times of my move.
But hey I was told I had a strong case so I decided to take that drive down south for the court case: I spent $80.00 on gas and $180.00 on a hotel.
Just to meet my lawyer at the location, and being interrogated by the judge, who in turn, denied me on false diagnose, couldn't spell my previous work correctly, so of course he isn't going to find my previous work, and the lawyer only using one piece of evidence in court.
Then they drop me today, they tell me I have to find another lawyer, without all the proof I've sent them over the passed FIVE YEARS!!!!
FIVE YEARS WORTH JUST TO START OVER.
Research other places first, people, please. This many years lost isn't worth it.

They will drop you in a heart beat if you get denied befints. I had the for a year and they do not keep in touch with you ..They assign me a crappy lawyer to represent me. Now I do not know what to do. If I could give them no stars I would.

Lawyer was granted an extension from judge to provide necessary medical supporting docs to verify my disabilities both medically and mentally. Not only did my lawyer dismiss this timeline. She then Requested another extension after judge granted the first one. Judge approved. Lawyer THEN still did not pursue documents as per what i hired her for is to represent and fight for my case. Judge was hindered by the law to deny my disability case in which took a total of 2 years of misery financially bc i was told i couldnt work due to my limitations and restrictions. Plus voiding out any chance of back pay. I was recommended to these ppl. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THE SERVICES THEY STATE THEY OFFER. Yet make you feel like you were the problem after the federal level denial. How so u ask? By telling the client they no longer wish to represent you after hahaa they are the ones that ruined your life

Obtaining SSDI is a difficult and frustrating process, Heard & Smith made it about as painless as it can be. The firm has extremely knowledgeable and helpful employees who patiently guide you through this extremely long and hard process.
