HealthSouth Emerald Coast Rehab Review

This was my third stay at this facility since 2007. The staff is professional and caring. I received excellent nursing and therapy services. As a big eater, I had trouble with the volume of food on my diabetic/cardio diet. The dietitian worked to give me more vegetables which where safe for my diet while giving me more food to eat. There were one of the nurses and one of the aides who were especially up beat, making my stay more bearable. I always looked forward to the shifts that they worked..

Nurse's staff not that good at least the one's I had. Had open heart surgery and every night between 5:00 and 6:00 ask for a pain pill and never got till 8:000 or 9:00. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worse enemy.

I was so very fortunate to get rehab at Health South after surviving a burst sigmoid colon on MAY 10th. Dr Richards and McKesson (bayside surgical) saved my life! Thank God for their expertise! Then after 10 days HS began to transform my weak body through a miraculous recovery
I could not say enough about the great team that worked with me encouraging me at every turn. Nurses and aides outstanding as well. (Especially ostomy nurse) They also treated my broken emotions addressing my feelings and needs in every respect .

Fine staff at Encompass-"Health South". They took very good care of my father every time he was admitted. The rehabilitation seemed to be helping him a lot, but did poop him out. It appeared the food wasn't bad as in a regular hospital because when he had a good day he ate well. They stay on a tight schedule for rehab and work you hard to hopefully get you back on your feet and get you out of there and home. Thanks to all of you for helping my father. If ever I need rehab this is the place that I want to be at. 850 STRONG!

If you don't care for your loved one this is the place to put them.

I have been here for about a week after having a motorcyle wreck and the staff have been amazing. The Nurses and Techs are kind, making sure you are comfortable. The Occupational Therapy, and Physical therapist are amazing! The days of boaring recover are gone with this crew! They find fun ways to make recover enjoyable and interactive. Highly recommend them if you want top notch care!

Staff is for the most part amazing. Its the lack of staffing they are forced to work with that is detrimental to patient care. decrease your patient to nurse ratios and patient care will improve.

Having had my leg Amputated put me in a not so nice mood & I think I bit off a few heads my first couple days after arriving.
I dreaded therapy like the plague until I went to my first group therapy. A young lady was having us kick a ball & do exercises with 1-2pound weights which was really kind of boring for me cause I am only 57 and most of the others were well into their 80 s.
My Second Group a young man named Chris was in charge and during the ball kicking and weight training he started asking Trivia Questions. I must tell you I had the best time that day and got a whole new outlook on therapy. My one on one therapy was with a nice young lady Joanne & her Supervisor Christy.
After a week with them I now consider them family.
The ppl there are Great & they go above & beyond. After a few days I was looking forward to my therapy times and was even showing up early for treatments.
I recommend This Therapy Place 100%, and if you need/Have to go for therapy I promise you that you will love it here too.
I cannot praise these therapists enough and now that I am home, I miss them every day.
If you have to stay here, feel comfortable knowing you will get the best care you ve ever received. The Nurses & Staff are all Wonderful ppl. If anyone had told me I would enjoy therapy I would have laughed in their faces.. but since going here I can t wait to go back as soon as I am ready for my prosthetic.
Thank you to all the Women & men who made a horrible time in my life, one of the best times in my life.

My husband was sent there for rehab after getting his foot amputated because of a diabetic ulser, most of the staff was very friendly and helpful but on the nights that a nurse named Sandy worked, he was ignored almost completely. She was the only nurse to restrict him to his bed, he couldn't even get up to go to the restroom without an alarm going off on his bed, she NEVER emptied the urinal and when I tried to sit with him a little past "official" visiting hours she rudely made up a lie about us making too much noise. None of the other nurses had any problems with me staying with him, and his roommate was sound asleep on the other side of the curtain that separates the beds. Most of the staff would encourage him to get into the wheelchair and be as independent as possible (hence REHABILITATION) but this one woman has no nursing skills or people skills and does not belong in a patient care environment.

So very grateful to everyone at HealthSouth who took care of me. You are all amazing and I am so blessed to have chosen HealthSouth. It didn't matter whose job it was, you did whatever was needed to help the patient. I would love to name each one of you but I know I'd leave someone out. God bless you all.
