Best place I can say that really helped me out with my issues. The staff was warm with a great welcome and the food was delicious. The only place that had my meds right away and the doctor's really cared about me. recommend to anyone seeking treatment for mental health disorders. Co- courring as well. A must see place.
I feel like many of the bad reviews here don't know what to expect of a short term mental health treatment center. Yeah, the days are regimented, no you can't have your cellphone, yes you can use their phone to call the necessary people, no you can't go any further than the tiny smoking courtyard. You know why? Because they don't want you to be distracted while you're taking care of yourself. Because they don't want people to try to escape their treatment center. I loved going here, the only thing I didnt like was that they made me sit down and drink water when I turned red from physical exertion. Oh no, they cared about my health! Since going to rockford in 2012, I haven't needed to visit an inpatient center again, and I think that's fantastic.
This was a long time ago but I was maybe 8-9 years old, yall picked me up by my collar on my shirt and slammed me into a table. I chipped my front tooth bc of it.
I don't typically do reviews but I'm trying to save you a lot of grief.. never go here, they keep you and drug you until your insurance runs out and then release you, messed up in every way shape and form. If you were sent here I fiercely hope you had a good mental support system when you escaped this hell of a place they pass as a "hospital".
This hospital is a joke I had a horrible experience while I was on the girls unit I witnessed a staff member just sit and watch as a girl with disabilities was being told by some other mean girls to run into a metal door, They took our blood in our sleep I am now learning that this is against the law battery and assault charges. The hospital was dirty and smelly. The unit was frequently unsafe. Its a crime that this place is open I have never met nurses who were so rude and unprofessional, the doctors were discrimintory of LGBTQ patients. They do nothing for victims of abuse and sexual crimes. PLEASE IF THERE IS ANY GOOD IN THE WORLD SHUT THIS HOSPITAL DOWN !
I can't think of a worse place to send a mentally ill person. I went in for a bipolar episode and essentially was stuck in what felt like a year of hell, even though I was only in for practically a week.
First mistake was that they put me in the adult section because I was 18, despite still being in highschool. The second mistake is that they essentially isolate you from the outside world, no cellphones, you got to use phones very rarely and always in a restrictive fashion, essentially felt like a prison where you could only get one phone call a day.
Staff talked down to you, smokers had designated smoke breaks to go out in the tiny courtyard to smoke. I don't even smoke but it seemed to me that they just treated everyone like incapable children. Even nonsmokers could only go out into the courtyard during this time.
The food was awful and gave practically everyone constipation. Yes, this place is that absurd.
You barely got to see your doctor despite them telling you that you'd get to see them often, and your release is dependent on whether or not they sign off on you, which is absolutely arbitrary. I was a "model citizen" while at Rockford and it still took me around two weeks to manage to weasel my way out of the place because the paranoid staff will think you're purposely trying to deceive them.
That's the other problem, the staff literally does not trust you even the slightest iota. They treat you as if you are mischievous convicts that are pitted against them.
Everything is so regimented, visits, exercise, etc. that you'll feel like you're in an actual prison.
This place is hell, it will not get your kids or relatives better, it will not get them the help they need. All it will do is imprison them for some period of time until you, or they, are somehow capable of managing to be released.
A nurse drew my blood with only the light from the door being cracked, my arm was all bruised up. disrespectful staff who cant control or help patients, also it was filthy. there was blood on my rooms floor and paint was peeling. it's like the place hadn't seen a vacuum since it was built. They were letting a known violent PATIENT take vitals.i Seen a red headed nurse cursing at a patient who had just cut herself. Some patients would act up purposely to get doped up with "booty juice" (I don't know what it was actually called medically) because the staff wouldn't communicate with them. Staff would join in on gossip between patients causing more problems. There was a boy there who was under so much stress he actually went mute. I left worse than when i went in, my hair was falling out like crazy. the stress is unbelievable, the staff would open and slam the doors every 15-20 minutes at night i would pretend to sleep, not lile they cared if i was or not though. I had panic attacks every single night. there was one point were i was looking out the window in my unit to calm myself and one of the staff workers opened the door and said "you can open it of you want" proceed to laugh and then slammed the door again. I know this is a psych ward so people don't take alot of these reviews seriously but please your child will never find any help here it's more danger than it is good and if they are in there now please help them.
Once they get your child in you cannot get him out. You pay money like up to 5000 to get the child out. Never let them take your child. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I highly do not reccomend this place to anyone. I was sent here and they madr my life worse, staff were lazy and rude. I was sexually assulted by one of the other patirnts and the staff did nothing. The place was extremely messy and uncleaned. They forced children to eat even if they were sick, they gossipped about patients infront of the other patients. They would even verbally abuse the patients. Please never go here.
I was in Rockford when I was 8 years old which was back in 2006. The people were nice but they werent making sure that the place was cleaned. I cried a few times because I wanted to go home. The bathrooms in the Gym were disgusting. The one roommate that I had was eating things out of the trash can. I had to sit in a soiled diaper more than 3 days. This place shouldn't of existed in the first place.
