Golden Ale, Amber and Red Volcano were very good.. Pale Ale was under attenuated. Tsunami IPA was disappointing.
Tasting room is cramped with standing room only. Sampling of 3 oz pours or sale of growlers or cans. No pints or open cans allowed.

Great beers. The tasting room is fun while deciding what I want in the growler. The staff is friendly and the beer is excellent.
I miss the Southern Cross. Please make a replacement soon.

Not really sure why this is rated so highly. The beer is really not very good compared to other Island staples like Kona and Big Island Brewhaus. We went to the ''tasting" room and it was very small and not really that clean. There was a pitcher of stale water/beer mixture just sitting near the taps, and the person helping us with tastings seemed annoyed to have us there. They don't seem to get the whole movement of beer as an experience, like many craft breweries are trending towards. I'd avoid if possible.

If you're on the big island, do yourself a favor and check out this brewery! We loved our experience here! Free samples...if that's not enough of a reason to go then rest assured the beer is super tasty. My favorite was the southern cross ale. To add to the experience, the woman serving us was so friendly and full of helpful information about other things to do around the island. Take a break from your tours to enjoy some good beer at the islands oldest brewery.

Great way to taste all the beer. We bought a growler. Was looking for a brew pub when we found this place. They told us where to find their brews locally and recommend some great places to eat.

Also known as Hawaii Nui brewery. Procaimed as one of the first if not THE FIRST brewery on the big island. This place is a no frills brewery, putting out some decent brown ales, reds, and lagers.

The tasting room is very cozy and probably fits about 4 people comfortably. There was one person working the tasting and had decent knowledge of the beers being served. Tasting room is standing room only, but there is one table and a couple of chairs outside in the brewing room.

Overall nice experience with the basic brews. If the brewery was updated it has great potential. Again this is my opinion. Cheers!

Four stars on a brewery is a damned fine rating from me. The lighter beers are good but nothing to write home about. However, the porter, pale ale, IPA, and double Belgian red are absolutely outstanding. Staff was friendly and happy to chat. Minimal tour would be a fantastic addition to the visit.

Tasting room is simple and sampling all beers costs $6. That s the good. Otherwise, the girl staffing the room couldn t have seemed less interested. She didn t know about the beers, just served. No charisma or chatting. Filled the plastic sample cups without rinsing, even loaded up a pale ale right after the porter. on top of that, the beers are mediocre at best. This is now a corporate subsidiary and no longer an independent craft brewer.

Just mehw. Lack of "over the top" applied brew experience. Significant progress is probably in the future but right now this brewery reeks of short cuts based on financial concerns and a standard Hilo lackadaisical "whateva" approach.

I'll agree with the other reviewers - small taproom, not super friendly, only small tasters available for $1 each or all 8 beers for $6.25 - plus tax. Beers are ok, nothing to write home about.

I must have been reading old, outdated reviews that said two free pints and bring your own food - definitely neither of those anymore.

Small and utilitarian tasting room. The selection of beers was awesome plus the people were super nice. You can buy beer to go (mix-and-match sixpacks, too). If you're in the area, highly recommend visiting.

Nice, quick stop for a flights of beer for less than $5. The tasting room is standing room only but there s a picnic style table in the main area next to it that you can sit in and listen to the music over the radio. If you re in the area and like to drink beer, it s worth a quick stop!
